Since I switched from a five blade cartridge razor to a double-edge safety razor, The Art of Shaving has become one of my favourite places to visit at Perimeter Mall and for now, it is the closest location. In my opinion, the«old school» shaving experience warrants the use of a brush and lathering shaving cream in a bowl and not applying some canned shaving foam or gel with the fingers. I have tried the following products: Ocean Kelp shaving cream — this product contains bergamot and citrus, to me, those are the dominant fragrances. All of their shaving creams offer a good shaving experience. Choosing a shaving cream, pre-shave oil or gel or after-shave from their core selection will be based on your fragrance preference. [The others are Lavender, Lemon or Sandalwood. Unscented shaving cream and after-shave are also available. Starter kits of their shaving products are available and they include an offer for $ 25 toward the purchase of a full size kit.] Ocean Kelp pre-shave gel — this is a glycerin based product that is a lighter alternative to pre-shave oil. Unscented pre-shave oil — Although«unscented», the smell of clove and pepper is what I like the most. Only a small amount is needed to massage into the face to prior to shaving. In late October, I received an email about a new shaving cream with peppermint oil. It smells great and it works as well as the other shaving creams I have tried from The Art of Shaving. I have been using it frequently since I purchased it. Sign up for the«Brotherhood of Shaving» to receive emails about promotions and products.

I’ve had a mustache for many years but recently decided to try to grow a classic handlebar. After letting it grow out for a while I wanted some professional advice and a trim. I found Art of Shaving at the Perimeter Mall when I was looking for a mustache comb a while back. I decided to get a traditional shave which includes a mustache trim($ 35). You can get the mustache trim alone for $ 15. The master barber, Jeff, is the ultimate professional. I enjoyed a relaxing half hour in the barber chair as Jeff meticulously trimmed my mustache. Next came a hot towel to prepare my whiskers. Then pre shave oil followed by warm lather. Then Jeff gave me the closest shave ever, with no irritation afterward. The shave concluded with a cold towel and moisture lotion. Jeff has a great touch. My mustache needs a little more time until I can achieve the curls I want, but it looks so much better than when I first walked into Art of Shaving. Be sure to call ahead for an appointment because he gets booked solid at times. I also purchased their mustache wax while I was there. Although pricey at $ 28, it is of very good quality. It is a soft wax, so not really appropriate for keeping a handlebar in place, but good for conditioning and general mustache and/or beard grooming. It has a light vanilla scent. I will definitely be back for follow up trims and a relaxing shave. Note — for an extra firm wax try Death Grip available on Amazon. It’s the only really firm wax I’ve found so far.

Very helpful! Came in here to get my husband a gift and they explained everything, walked us through the different types of razors and different types of gift sets they sold. Once we told them what we were interested in, he showed us how everything worked and in what order they need to be used and why they needed to be used… it was great! You can also get a shave here, my husband just wasn’t interested but it looked very nice. The prices were reasonable for how little you use each time you shave as well.

So, the Art of Shaving. What is there to say, I love this place. I’ve been going to the shop at Lenox for the past few years to get my shaving supplies. When i recently ran out of shaving cream i really didn’t have time to get out there so i looked them up and was surprised to see they had opened a store at Perimeter. Awesome. I stopped by on my way home from work and spoke with Victor(who is awesome and very knowledgeable) and purchased what i required along with another pack of blades since I really hate running out of those. Details, the store if great. Probably twice the size of the tiny Lenox location. The barber salon is very stately and practically reeks of manliness. Everyone was very helpful and very informed about their products and shaving in general. I wish I still worked in the Dunwoody area so i could go in and visit more often.
