I had the tacos here on $ 2 Taco Tuesday and it was a pretty good shrimp + corn salsa + guac taco. I don’t know if they change it up, but after a few of the tacos I was pretty satisfied.

Try fixing your hours. If it says 11 be open till 11. Why would you close at 1020? Come on now really wanted to eat there too. So disappointing.

Ok burger, but broccoli side tasted like charred plastic. Very slow service at the bar and the lunch rush arrived as I was leaving…

The burgers here are large and delicious. The service is great. They have several craft beers to choose from and they change daily. Great spot right near Georgia Tech.

Nice people, great service(was pretty quiet for us on a Wednesday evening) and good food! Even with a baby, we all enjoyed it.

I used to eat here every so often due to the proximity to Georgia Tech. It was always decent, but not great food with a good beer selection. Lately, however, eating there has been a terrible experience. This last time I ordered a burger(medium). I received a reheated burger patty that was dried out, room temperature, and burned to a crisp. My girlfriend ordered fettuccine alfredo, which was absolutely disgusting. I’m not a very picky person, but I’ll never eat here again.

Ordered fish and chips. Only got two strips of fish, which is rare. I usually get three. What was worse was that the fish strips was mostly bread with little fish. Furthermore, the bread was the kind that was crispy on the outside but soggy in the inside. They should take a tip from Gordon B. — well at least the one in buckhead. Their fish and chips are exemplary. On the(small) bright side, I ordered tater-tots which were good.

Stopped by here as we were close to the Georgia Tech campus and had a decent meal — the food wasn’t amazing but it wasn’t terrible either. Service was pretty good and the food came out fast. I did really enjoy the pumpkin beer they had on special, and it was only $ 3! For food, I got the shrimp po boy per our waitress’s recommendation — the shrimp were quite large and tender, and I liked the remoulade, but there was too much bread and not enough shrimp. Also tried my friend’s BBQ pulled pork nachos, which were huge and pretty tasty, but definitely greasy. For dessert, we tried the red velvet brownie, which was a little dry and not as good as the cake version. Not sure I would come back for the food, but not a bad place to hang out and watch some sports with your friends.

For a Georgia Tech Thursday night nationally televised football game, Barrelhouse sold out and reserved the whole restaurant for VT alumni. This is disgusting. As far as I am concerned I hope the only people that ever go back are VT fans.

Calling it a «gastro pub» is really pushing it. They do have some nice craft beers on tap, but the food is pretty straight up pub, no gastro. For a recent dinner here, the place was fairly empty, but the ambiance was pleasant if somewhat generic. Service was prompt and friendly. Upon the server’s recommendation, I got a burger. The bun to patty ratio was off: too thick/fluffy bun and too thin burger. Extra toppings were $ 1 each, which seems a little steep for a few grilled onions(really skimpy) and a slice of cheese. The burger was pretty small and not very flavorful, but the fries were pretty strong – a little crisp and well-seasoned. Go here to grab a pint, but plan to eat elsewhere unless you’re ready for very average bar food.

Got there at 5:45, group of 2. Louder than hell, nowhere to stand. Got seated at 6:20 and served at 8. I wanted wings, how stupid of me. I wanted their draft beer, how stupid of me. They were out of everything. I received no water and my thirst was never quenched. The only thing extra they gave me was freaking icing, like cake icing, for my fries. The waitress couldn’t crack a smile for the whole 2.5 hrs and neither of us could use the bathroom without waiting forever for their single bathroom. At least we had plenty of time to kill while waiting for the mediocre food. Got to our concert way late bc we didn’t budget almost 3 hrs for dinner.

So I went to The Barrelhouse this weekend for a networking event. I’d never heard of this place, so I had absolutely no expectations. It was just average… nothing really great or terribly awful about this place. The menu is very, very basic, with burgers and fries, chicken strips and fries, and sandwiches being the popular items. Maybe I needed to read Unilocal reviews before going here, so I could know what their«specialty» is, or maybe just being very close to GaTech’s campus IS their specialty. after all, college students will eat just about anything. Again, nothing horrible about this place, but not memorable to go back on my own accord. The service was outstanding! I was with a large party, and our waitress handled it very, very, very, well.

The Barrelhouse is located near the Eastern side of the Georgia Tech campus(near the hotel and in the same block as the gigantic Barnes and Nobel Book Store). As usual I have a much longer and detailed review on my food blog. I’ve had occasion to visit the Barrelhouse several times this past year — usually after TAG meetings or other technology meetups(often hosted at the Synergy building at 755th St) — this is a great location for after-meeting beers and food. I’ll admit to mostly enjoying the beer and the social aspect, but of the food I’ve tried here(mostly apps like the Dr Pepper wings — try those for something different!), I’ve got nothing but great comments. The other reason to try Barrelhouse is the great service, especially when you sit at the bar. I’ve been enjoying the Lagunitas Dogtown IPA — this California pale ale has really captured the essence of a good IPA and I recommend it highly. Another to try is the Boulevard Single Wide IPA — I rate it as good if just slightly different from the Lagunitas Dogtown and if you’re an IPA fan like me, you’ll get by just fine with either. Thus far I’ve tried the following food items: Fired Pickle Chips, Fried Green Beans, Chipotle Pimento, Sweet Potato Fries and the wings(a couple of varieties). All were good pubish items, mostly fried and swell accompaniments to the various beer selection. I’ve found that just about anything that isn’t sweet goes well with the IPAs. As already mentioned, try the Dr Pepper wings — there’s something special and different that you won’t find anywhere else. As an entry, there’s really only one thing to order here — the Bobby Dodd burger! This gigantic burger will surely please any burger lover especially if you like them loaded. This is a feast of a sandwich will many over-powering flavors, fighting each other like those players on the field beloved by it’s namesake. I do also love the slab fries and the onion ring!

I love this place! The food is always very good and so is the service. We come here often for lunch outings and they always have our tables ready and my co-workers and I enjoy your food to the fullest. They have great lemon pepper wings. They are completely covered in lemon pepper seasoning and are tasty. Try their steak fries and sweet potato fries and you’ll be happy. They have these interesting Dr. Pepper wings. I say you should try them just for the experience. They used to have this turkey meatball samitch. And yes, I called it a samitch because that is what it was, a SAMITCH. Samitches are hearty and delicious. Sandwiches are what you get when you slap 2 pieces of wonder bread together.. . but they don’t have that samitch anymore. I’ve been begging the manager to bring it back and I know one day he will fulfill my wishes. So if you want a clean, friendly bar with tasty food, I suggest coming to Barrelhouse.

If you’re looking for a worthwhile way to cheat on the diet you’ve been on, order the Bobby Dodd burger at The Barrelhouse. It’s the best burger I’ve had in the last few months. If you think it may belong on a burger, then the Bobby Dodd has it. Fried onion rings? Two huge ones on top. Spicy sauce? The Bobby Dodd has it, although in my opinion it’s a bit mild. Fried egg? It’s there. Bacon is also there, and it’s honey flavored, which made it even better. And you get the standard toppings of lettuce, tomato, and cheese. The steak fries were good too. If this sounds overwhelming for you(a steak knife is required to keep the whole thing together), there are also quite a few other smaller burger and sandwich options. I would suggest to the owners to have more sandwich choices for the half and half combos. Briefly thought about ordering a combo, but wanted something different from the few sandwich options offered with the special.

Scoutmob had ‘hand picked’ deal for two with this restaurant few months ago and on an impulse I grabbed the deal. But one thing or another, we were not able to get to it until today, which happens to be last day I could use the deal(I know, I’m a procrastinator). The pub is in the same complex as Barnes & Noble at georgia tech. We were welcomed and seated promptly. The décor is very much pub-ish, you know those intentionally grimy looking floors and big pipes over your head and all. When We told the waiter that we have the deal from scoutmob, he explained what we are getting with the deal. 1) Any two burgers from their menu including today’s special. 2) Two monday brew beers 3) one dessert to share Neither of us drink beers so we just asked for some water but the waiter seemed confused and had to check with his boss lady if we can use the deal without having the beer. I don’t see why it would be a problem, it’s not like we were asking for refund for beer. Finally he came back and told us that we can use the deal without beer. They could have asked if we wanted soda instead. I would have settled for just water but would have appreciated the gesture. No big deal. We ordered, 1) Bobby Dodd burger(with fries on side) 2) Today special lamb burger with feta(with goat cheese mashed potatoes on side) 3) warm red-velvette brownie with vanilla icecream Bobby Dodd burger was huge! it was a half-pound black Angus burger topped with stinger sauce, cheddar cheese, two bacon strips, one egg sunny side up, lettuce, tomato and two onion rings served with fries. I had to deconstruct the burger just to be able to eat. The stinger sauce tasted just like ketchup and Yolk in the egg was runny, as it should be. It wasn’t the best burger I have tasted but I liked it. My only complaint is that the onion rings were unbelievably greasy. Probably the oil was not hot enough. While the ’ Bobby Dodd Burger’ was overwhelming(in a good way), the lamb burger was quite opposite — very underwhelming. Somehow the lamb burger and feta combination didn’t work here. Also, there was absolutely no seasoning in the lamb burger. I used to think there is no way one can screw up mashed potatoes but I was proven wrong here. It was bland and I have tasted better mashed potatoes made from the ready-made mix. Finally the dessert — let me just say, this is the best part of our meal at ‘The Barrelhouse’. The warm red-velvet brownie was huge and sitting on top of it was the nice scoop of vanilla icecream. Two of us were fighting to get more bites and I would have licked the plate off if the pub wasn’t crowded. I’m still salivating just thinking about it. One thing though, we had to rinse our mouth several times to get the red color off. I am guessing, they had to use extra color to make the brownie batter red. Its food grade color, so I don’t care. And our waiter was very nice throughout, so the service is good here. At the end of the day, I don’t know if it’s worth the drive to this place just for burger and dessert. There are definitely better burger joints in town like zinburger and Grindhouse ‘Killer’. But if you are living in the neighborhood, you may want to check out this place after 5 pm on weekdays. They have $ 6 burger and beer deal on monday and several other deals everyday. Three and half stars

Lunchtime on Friday and 20 of walked in a little past 1. They have us the bar area and it was a terrific experience. Good beer selection with the Spring Blonde from New Belgium on special. The patty melt was tremendous! Marble rye, great beef, a giant hand battered onion ring and pimento cheese, what else could you ask for?

Good hipster pub. Fun atmosphere. Food was solid. Not amazing but good. Prices aren’t bad for a pub in Atlanta. I was disappointed that they offer only 5 – 6 beers on tap(why pay $$$ for bottled beer?!) but what we drank was excellent(one beer on tap and one bottled). My husband had the«fish fry Friday» catfish special which was actually really good and $ 10. I had the grilled cheese + roasted red pepper soup. The soup was great; the sandwich was ok. Nothing bad, just not great. I could do as well or better at home. Server was attentive and helpful.

Had the black and bleu burger and it was just not good. The patty seemed like they had grabbed beef off the nearest grocery aisle and slapped it straight on a flattop. It had zero flavor in it and wasn’t even juicy. The toppings were an afterthought, with very little on it and the blue cheese was not fresh. The steak fries were only good as ketchup vehicles, seeming like they had been sitting out, and of the thick mushy style to begin with. No effort or design was put into anything, I could have made this at home with freezer aisle ingredients. To top it all off, the service was impeccably slow, taking about 15 minutes from asking for our checks to getting them. The Happy Ending 2013 I had seemed to come out of a stale keg that had been tapped awhile ago. The prices definitely don’t help either, don’t mind the fact the beer menu has no prices on it, a peeve of mine. After all was through I had spent $ 20+ on a mediocre burger and beer. I feel like they get by with being the only place on campus that has a semi-real draft menu.
