Thompson Billy, OD

Dr. Billy Thompson practices Optometry in the Four Eyes Optical store in Peachtree-​Battle Shopping Center. I’ve probably been going to him for regular eye exams since the store opened. It must be 30 years. He does a great job of checking eye health and prescribing both glasses and contact lenses. I’ve never had vision insurance, so I’ve always paid out of pocket for these exams. Prices are reasonable. I eventually developed problems with contact lenses, an allergic reaction to the polymer and have always had dry eyes, so my choices became limited until all I had left was LASIK surgery or wearing bifocals all the time. I chose LASIK (mono vision) and am very happy. I still go back to Dr. Thompson every couple of years to be checked for glaucoma and cataracts. Eight years after LASIK I now need a slight correction for distance and reading glasses in certain light conditions. I couldn’t recommend more highly Dr. Thompson, an optometrist who does very inexpensive preventive health exams (he can prescribe occasional antibiotics or steroid drops when necessary). You don’t have to get eyeglass or contact lens prescriptions filled at Four Eyes, although I get glasses there. I mostly got my contacts via mail order instead of in store.
