We have all been to a Chinese Buffet or a restaurant, and we can all come to the conclusion that there is not a whole lot to set them apart. I have no clue what the secret is here, but the food has a multiplied flavor, its located right inside the hotel near bally’s short walk from caesars. Very convenient for a busy day of fun and gambling. This will be a food choice of mine for every trip I make down here. Staff is friendly and service is good, when combined with good food you have a 5 star review! Go NanKing!

Portions are a little on the small side, but it was good food quality. Service was good. Food is a little pricey. Overall experience was pretty average, but the cosmopolitan was excellent.

There are lots of great Japanese restaurants in Atlantic City, this is not one if them. The food was just ok, nothing special. The service was just ok, nothing special. Prices were way too high. There are noodle bars around AC with better food and certainly better prices.

I should have read the reviews here before even going to this place. Took them 15 mins to get us seated and there were approx. 4 people in the restaurant. Probably find better Chinese at the panda king. Avoid!

On February 19, 2014, I had lunch at Nanking. It took 15 minutes for the waitress to take my order. There were six people in the restaurant. Thirty five minutes later my chicken broccoli arrived. The chicken was cold, and the rice was gummy. I will not return to Nanking.

Great Atmosphere but the good was overpriced and average at best. We stopped in for a snack, got three appetizers and water and the bill was $ 48.00. Would not recommend

It should be renamed the Nanking massacre instead. The food was overpriced, the service ranged from oddly enthusiastic to nearly uncaring. Perhaps if it was actually good the price could be ignored in the setting of a casino, however it was quite the opposite.

Oh gosh, never come to this place! Or it’s ok if you don’t mind to spend 20+ dollars on a dish with quality that is even worse than a Chinese take out place and with portion that is unbelievable small. And you know what’s more, with plenty of vacant tables, they let people wait outside so long and don’t bring them in. Even though you finally sit down, nobody serves you. Even though someone comes to serve you, he just can not get to the point… and prepare to wait forever for what you ask for!

All the dishes are seriously overpriced. The service was terrible. Our waiter was not well trained and non-professional.

I’ve been to the Nanking in New Brunswick and dream about it regularly in DC– I was definitely craving some Indian Chinese cuisine and was pleasantly surprised to see this as an option on Opentable in Atlantic City! Pros: Something different, Convenient to the boardwalk, Plenty of reservations available, good food, good service Cons: Just not as awesome as I’ve had in New Brunswick. That’s really it. I was able to make a reservation via OpenTable no problem on a Saturday night. We were seated immediately(following an exhausting search for it– why don’t you have any signs up, Bally’s?). You’ll have to go into Bally’s and then take the elevator up to the sixth floor(or the escalator right across the roulette machines). The only other downside was that it was FREEZING inside, though that was Bally’s in general, not just Nanking. The food was good, though not as flavorful as I’ve had at the Nanking New Brunswick. We ordered Mumbail Chilli Paneer, Penang Curry, and Chicken Hakka Noodles. All the food was good– I just wish the chilli paneer was a bit spicier. The staff was friendly and the service was good. Bottom line: I’d recommend it!

I was totally unimpressed with this place. We went on a Thursday evening right before the start of a weekend-long event. It wasn’t super busy, so we were seated right away. The restaurant has a really nice atmosphere. They played some kind of Mandarin Chinese easy-listening type music, but it was not so loud that you couldn’t have a conversation with the person seated across from you. After taking a few minutes to go over the menu, we ordered the sweet corn soup, Peking duck spring rolls, Mongolian lamb, and shrimp pad thai. The appetizers were great. The soup had just the perfect sweet/savory balance, and the spring rolls were light and crispy. Our entrees, on the other hand, were bordering on inedible. Perhaps it was a different chef that night or something, but everything was severely over-seasoned. There was so much ginger in the lamb that you couldn’t taste anything else. The noodles in the pad thai were chewy and tasted like… ketchup. We ended up leaving more than half of the lamb and almost all of the pad thai untouched. For what everything cost, it was very disappointing. I was so taken aback by this because the reviews for this restaurant have been so good, but it didn’t live up to the hype. Not only was the food well below our expectations, the service was really off. The hostess was lovely, but our waitress completely dropped the ball on some simple things. I had asked for lemon for my water and it never appeared, even after the third time I asked for it. Also, my water glass sat empty for too long before someone came to fill it. Yes, there were 4 or 5 tables seated at the restaurant, BUT… two waitstaff. Had it just been one, I wouldn’t be concerned. However, these small lapses are unacceptable when each person only has 2 or 3 tables to cover. Also, beware that there are no free refills on soft drinks. It’s not like they were serving glass bottles of the stuff either. I’m sure they came from a dispenser in the kitchen. I know for a fact that the syrup costs only pennies per serving, so this was just ridiculous. I can’t remember the last time I went to a nice, sit-down restaurant that charged for refills. Overall, the restaurant had some good points, but I rate it far below even our dinner at the Applebee’s down the road. Very disappointing because there was potential for real greatness.

Big BIG let down! We were looking for somewhere to enjoy happy hour snacks and drinks, so we fell for the«happy hour» listed at Nanking(½ off appetizers and discount drinks). We requested a few drinks from the happy hour menu when we were told that they«didn’t have a bar» and the waiter(who was actually very friendly and would likely have given us great service) actually CROSSEDOUT one of the drinks that we chose, because they no longer have it. Most of the appetizers that had our mouths watering weren’t on the«happy hour» menu, so we opted for veggie spring rolls and left to go back to Harry’s, where we knew we’d enjoy the food. Don’t fall for the bait and switch! This is not the happy hour you’re looking for!

Nanking offers pricey Asian fusion inside the main tower of Bally’s Atlantic City. Their typical Asian fusion décor(giant Buddha at the door, which people had, ironically, stuffed dollar bills into the hands of, dark wood walls, gentle music) was inviting, as were the plush booths. The menu focuses mostly on upscale Chinese and Thai, with a few Indian touches. Peking duck spring rolls were dark and juicy, and a chicken pad thai was very good, despite the thicker than average tamarind sauce. While it’s possible to not blow your winnings on a single meal(the pad thai was only $ 15), Nanking offers a «specials» menu where the entrees might run easily twice that. Which isn’t to say they don’t put an intense level of effort into ideas and execution: one special(«young coconut») was billed as an entire young coconut filled with vegetable curry over tempura shrimp. At $ 35, though, it was much too rich for my blood. They also boast a list of creative fusion cocktails, such as the Hennesy Colada(Hennesy, cream of coconut, lime juice) and the Blueberry Cardamom Fizz(an unholy mixture of Hendricks Gin, Absolut, cardamom, blueberry purée, tomato purée, and masala seasoning).

This was a great find. My friend and I(who is a Vegan) were looking for a place to eat on a slow pre-holiday Wednesday. Ballys had a listing of which restaurants were open and closed and when I saw Asian fusion I figured we had to at least check out the menu. As another reviewer mentioned the Buddah at the entrance was welcoming(we later had a couple of pics taken by it). The hostess reassured us that everything is prepared from scratch and pretty much any dish could be tailored for my friend. I had one of their signature drinks, think it was called a Chinese Pineapple or something similar. Very good. We started with the steamed vegetable dumplings(you can have them fried as well). They were the best I’ve had. I had the Pad Se Ew. Great dish and sizeable portion. Couldn’t finish it. Don’t recall what my friend had but definitely no complaints from her. Service was great. Pleasant seating. We chose a booth and you had nice privacy from those around you. I inquired about the music that was playing and our server told us it was Cantonese. Definitely will be back!

I seldom give any restaurant a 5 star rating let alone take the time to post a review and that’s partly because I am VERY picky and far too busy. I must say that the Nan King Restaurant at the Bally’s Hotel in Atlantic City, NJ is well deserving of my 5 star rating. Now I’m no food critic professionally but I have certainly visited my fair share of restaurants from local fast food Asian joints in the ghetto to Tao in Las Vegas, and NYC as well as the Koi chain of restaurants… I like to think that with a career in the dining/catering and hospitality industry — I might know a thing or two about dining out and great service. That’s exactly what we got when Myself and my wife went to Nan King, AC for our 2nd wedding anniversary. At first I found it slightly difficult to locate(until we asked a security guard). The restaurant is not on the main casino floor as I may have expected but none the less was pleasantly surprised to take a grand escalator to the 2nd floor, upon which we found the restaurant tucked away in the corner. Here below I’m going to break my experience down into a few basic categories from the Ambiance, Service, to the Food Presentation /Taste. AMBIANCE As we proceeded in towards the hostess desk we were greeted by a warm and soothing Buddha statue that made us feel welcome, set the mood and ambiance of this small(100 seats) yet quaint and tranquil restaurant. It was about 8:00 pm on a Wednesday night so I wasn’t necessarily expecting a rush and was certainly pleased when the pretty hostess smiled and promptly sat us at our booth. Walking in we felt the restaurant was upscale but not haughty taughty or unnecessarily pretentious. It was just right for a restaurant located in a Bally’s Atlantic City Casino. Had it been located at the brand new Revel — perhaps my expectations may have been far different. The booth seating was actually very comfortable and even the song selections over the central sound system with it’s fusion mix of Asian, Chinese, Thai — set the tone appropriately for what was about to transpire. SERVICE As soon as we made ourselves comfortable we were introduced to our AWESOME server Michelle. Yeah, she’s American with a tattoo or two and a ever so slight long island accent — not exactly the kimono wearing Asian one might expect at an Asian Fusion restaurant — but for what she didn’t wear in uniform — she certainly wore(her heart) on her sleeve. Extremely polite, helpful with menu suggestions, experienced to know the evening specials/menu inside out, and overall extremely attentive and patient! She always arrived to the table with a smile which is seldom seen with most young servers as of late. She must have stopped by our table about 8 times that night as we asked her to take pictures of us, voluntarily fill our waters, make menu suggestions and ensure our food was to our liking. Never once did we have to flag her down or feel as if we were neglected. Her positive energy and attention to detail allow’s her to set the bar very high for servers and waitresses to follow. FOODPRESENTATION/TASTE Being vegetarian(as most South Asian/Indian’s are) our selections were hardly limited. We had options galore and had the opportunity to tweak items on the menu as per our palate. For ‘First Flavors’ we ordered the«Toast and Jam»(Crispy Paneer toast and Sesame Soy Jam) and the Nan King signature Crispy Lotus Wheels cooked in scallions, chili honey sauce. The food came out within minutes. The lotus wheels came out piping hot and crispy as opposed to other places i have experienced, where they have a tendency to lose heat very fast, becoming rather chewy or tough. Not sure where the actual Paneer is/was in this item but my guess is that it’s blended into the generous helping of spread that laced the fried toast. Overall a tasty item but much more oily then we bargained for. Shortly their after we were introduced to Monica and Sonny. The owners of the restaurant. They both came out to congratulate my wife and I on our Anniversary.(they must have overheard from Michelle, is my guess). Monica took ample time to suggest to us a few new items on their menu in comparison to the other Nan King restaurants I mentioned I had visited in the past(South Plainfield, NJ, Edison, NJ and Times Square, NYC). Sonny and Monica are gracious hosts. One can easily tell that they have a passion for what they do and love getting the word out about their new venture(Nan King in AC has only been open for about a year). With Monica’s off the menu suggestions and Michelle’s timely change of our previously ordered entrees, my wife and I were left to enjoy each other’s company and let the folks at Nan King continue to make our evening a memorable experience. Gorgeously plated and absolutely delicious food make Nan King in Atlantic City a 5 Star dining experience you must try for yourself!

Well I guess if you take in the atmosphere of Atlantic City and mix it with food this is what you get. Save the money and just go to Panda Express

Don’t let the«Chinese» font on Nanking’s menu fool you. Don’t let the use of the word«Nanking» fool you — it’s now called Nanjing. Don’t let the fact that Nanking is located inside a casino hotel fool you into thinking this is a throwback Chinese restaurant with low quality food. It is not… Nanking is a serious Asian fusion restaurant. My only confusion here is why would they name a restaurant Nanking when the menu items are mainly Chinese and Thai? To get to Nanking, you would need to ride an escalator up from the casino floor at Bally’s. You’ll notice upon entering that it is a bit dark and vermillion red, but you will be seated promptly. When we got there at around 3 p.m. it was about half full, pretty impressive for that time. We ordered a couple of dishes: Pad Se Ew, Hot and Sour Soup, and Kung Pao Chicken. Surprisingly, the food came out almost to the standards of Chinatown-style. I was really surprised because most of the wait staff wasn’t Chinese which may mean that the kitchen staff may not be Chinese either. In any case, what I’ve learned is that you cannot judge a restaurant from what you see on the outside. Judge it from the food and this is a lesson well-learned at Nanking! Finally, pricing is a bit on the high side, most dishes are from $ 15 to $ 25. This is to be expected from a casino restaurant, but I am happy to report that it is worth it.

The crispy duck was not as good as I had hoped or as the server talked it up to be. The Peking Duck rolls were very good and the Chicken Satay was Average. The service was ok in general(our server was very good and pretty knowledgable about the menu) and the price was very reasonable as well($ 63 two people, 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, tea and some soft drinks)
