Alas, the Playground is not a 5 star establishment. Excitement and optimism of the new venue initially got me, but ultimately wore off leading to thoughts of failure and mediocrity at best. What a cool concept! Now on a Saturday night, most of the bars in T Street are barely open and there were about a dozen patrons in site. The once glorious fountain, and then concert stage, is now a night club, Wav. I didn’t go in, but does AC really need another night club? What happened to the bowling alley on the second floor? The retail section is still a mix of high-end and crappy. At least Continental and Buddakan are still lively on the third floor. I’m hoping I just walked by at an off time(10pm on a Saturday night during the summer…), but I left the Playground feeling disappointed. I hope I’m proved wrong, but perhaps a wolf in sheep’s clothing is still a wolf.

This used to be called Pier Shops at Caesars. They changed it to Playground Pier. Before the name change, they used to have these fountains that would go off every 30 mins to hour starting at 11 am, I could be wrong about that. This mall is really good and nice. Nice stores in here including the Apple Store even though it’s pricey. The fountains that they used to have in here is now a bar. If you go to the top level, they got some eateries there and you can go out to the deck to see the beach, the view of the ocean.

New concept in dying and mostly dead Pier Shops that features trendy bars, clubs, a Wet Willies, dueling pianos, and other entertainment. Basically trying to reinvent the facility as an entertainment complex. Nice concept featuring dance clubs and live music to offset the failed overpriced shopping mall here. Why bother when a ton of outlet shops are also located in town? Also, it seems as if there is no signage or advertising for this spot anywhere. Since AC is strugging they should be promoting the heck out it everywhere. The food and drink prices are a bit pricey for bar food and beer, but expected in this kind of location. Casino pricing — you’ll pay on the tables or in here either way! Still mostly dead on a Saturday night last weekend when we were there to check it out. Ended up at Wet Willies for some boozy frozen slushies. Hopefully will get better during Summer season.

Everyone defiantly needs to go check out WAV Nightclub in the Playground Pier. From the beautiful venue to the great staff, I had a wonderful experience all the way around.

Garbage. Off season this place is crap. The new nightclub is shit. The wav is circular very bad layout that used to be a fountain. You get stuck in alot of spots and cant move. Trying to convert a mall to a fun place is just not working out.

Best place — but hear me out. Came to see AC before it’s finally dead and buried. We needed a place to watch the game, ideally away from the casino madness. What did we find at the end of the playground? A giant TV in an empty space with big couches for us to lay out on. And even table service(couch service?). Good spot to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Please tell me why the following happened; my mother, aunt and severely autistic adult cousin recently went to ‘1921’ to watch an artist that was highly recommended to them. Upon arrival my aunt asked if they would have to order an alcoholic drink even though my autistic cousin does not drink, she does not drink, nor does my mother. The waiter said very brusquely ‘it’s a cocktail lounge and someone has to order something’ but did not offer an alternative beverage such as tea, soda or coffee. Instantly my mother and aunt felt uncomfortable at the venue because they felt they were ‘not allowed’ to be there. Why did my family feel forced to leave after only five minutes in your venue? Seeing that the above patrons were obviously not drinkers, why were they alienated to the point of leaving the entire complex? If you are the ‘music capital of the east coast’ why can’t adults go out to enjoy live music without having alcohol?(Nashville bars do not force their patrons to consume alcohol, but offer alternatives) My main concern is that my mother, aunt and disabled cousin could not enjoy an evening of music as planned and felt unwanted at your venue. Having lived and worked in other ‘music cities,’ this incident was a disgrace.

The Playground is a great concept and a needed fresh breath for the stale Atlantic City air. This venue reminds me of Xfinity Live, in the sense that you are able to bar hop from one bar to the other. There was no cover on this particular night, I imagine they save that for when there is live music. Each bar inside is different, one is a piano bar, another karaōke and another is a good old Irish bar. Past the corridor of bars is a huge tv screen and open area. I imagine that this is where the bands perform and it’s a great open space. There is a small outdoor area set up as a beer garden. In reality I think the beer garden term can be used loosely as there are only a few tables set up and not much décor. But hey, this place just opened so I’ll give them time to update. But really, why was there no live band on a Friday night? That’s probably why The Playground was dead when I came. This place is new and it should and could be the hot spot of Atlantic City. I imagine the Playground attracting a mid 20s to 30s crowd and people who want to go out in Atlantic City but deal with the usual club scene. This venue has so much potential and could be so great. I really hope they step up their game with advertising, promotion and booking live bands. I only knew about The Playground because a friend works for a casino and told me about it. I didn’t see any billboards promoting The Playground on my way down to Atlantic City. I would hate to see yet another failed business venture in Atlantic City. Please, step up your game!!!
