Amazing view. Great staff. Great food. The tuna tacos are amazing. I love this restaurant.

Been here a couple times. Truthfully my favorite two things were their french fries with honey mustard and their calamari special they had one day. it was covered in some spicy mayo that was sweet too, I can’t remember the name. but I came back looking forward to it and they werent serving it, they only had original which wasn’t as good.

Came here for some drinks and appetisers. Atmosphere was extremely loud with glass breaking and plates being thrown together. Service was slower than molasses. And the waitress almost seem angry at us. Ordered a basket of fries that were saltier than the Dead Sea. Chips and salsa were clearly all pre made. The only good part of the night was the amazing view of the water

Went here for pub grub after a hike, and to lay a ‘foundation’ for beers at the Carton Brewery. We all got fish and chips, which were just alright. Fish had an extremely thick layer of batter around two large fillets. Think«country fair corn dog» thickness, and it was pretty greasy. Overall we were left with a bit of a gut ache. Price was fair at $ 15 and fries were tasty. Nice views from the deck, naturally.

On the deck is a great place to grab drinks with friends or just get a great bite to eat. Whether you have a small or big group they can seat a lot, especially in the summer months when the deck is open. Great views all around and great service everytime. The specials are always great and although I bit pricey the food is always on point. If your in Atlantic highlands in the afternoon and looking for a nice place to go, on the deck is the spot!

This restaurant is laid back, with a nice view of the sandy hook bay. The food is average, typical cuisine of a shore bar. I’ve had a good tuna tartar salad here. However, the wait staff has ruined my dining experience more than once! I have been here more than ten times the past 2 years, and each time I am greeted with surly individuals that are condescending and unprofessional. The last time I was here(October 2015) I asked the woman bartender a simple, ordinary request. For some reason she got really huffy and right in front of me 5 feet away put a menu to her face to blatantly speak to another waitress about me and my party, while they both looked over and smirked. So uncomfortable! Everyone noticed. After that exchange was treated with dirty looks and slow service. Other people I know have also commented in the attitudes of those who work here. They lost regulars because of it, it’s a shame. I won’t be back. I recommend cleaning house.

The view is wonderful, but the food is sadly lacking. I had the small plate of ribs which were moist and fell off the bone, yet the sauce was too tangy and artificial tasting. My husband had tuna tacos but were weak and not very tasty he said. We got the fried pickles too, but not as good as the Chubby Pickle in Highlands the next town over. Even the fries were nothing to write home about. But will be back for drinks.

On the deck has a very relaxed atmosphere for a restaurant. Eat outside, beautiful view, good food, perfect way to spend a weekend out with your family. We had the mahi stick app which was really good. I had the horseradish burger which was good but needed some type of sauce, and the lettuce they gave was shredded? Lol. I wish I kept the spring mix decoration that came with the app, so I can have it with my burger SMH. My wife had the lobster roll special that was on a croissant which was delicious. Minus one star because the employees were running around like crazy even though it wasn’t even that busy, they seemed extremely frustrated, but our service was good though… Smile a little more, you could of gotten that 5 star review… I’ll be back and maybe I’ll update it

The view here isn’t as pretty or luxury-feeling as the restaurants further down the shore in Long Branch or Sea Bright, but this place still keeps the local vibe without all the aggression of the Manhattan crowd. There’s plenty of union, construction, or students coming out here which creates a real nice portrait of life on the Jersey Shore. Food is unexpectedly good for a bar — I’ve had burgers, soup, and seafood here and all were really good quality for the price. I’ve also been a regular at the bar and while I’ve never really made friends with the bartenders, the bar itself has a great atmosphere. Roomy inside, and a great patio out back that’s raised and perfect for watching the boats docking at the marina downstairs. They also have bands playing regularly, which is an added bonus in a town that doesn’t have a lot of nightlife. Love coming here. If you’re looking for a little spice at night this is a great place to find it in the area.

Great for a stop of lunch or dinner if you are coming off the beach. The views and the breeze are wonderful Had lunch with a couple of friends on a Friday. Ordered a pitcher of sangria with was very nicely prepared, a house salad and the Cuban burger special, which was delicious. Waitress was pleasant and efficient. Last time I was here was for dinner on New Years’ Eve. We were placed in the upstairs dinning area and had a very romantic evening even with our two year old son, lol.

Not a welcoming bar environment, restaurant is mediocre. Had the Mahi-Mahi bites, were a bit chewy and bland. Stuck around for some drinks at the bar. The outside area is ok but can be much better. They took a very nice location by the water, threw a bunch of cheap outdoor furniture in there, crammed in a bar and called it «on the water». They play country music and watch sports here, that is the way it is. The biggest negative and why I won’t go back is because I felt like I was being bum rushed out. While the bartender was more than happy to keep serving me drinks, the bouncer(?) was staring me down, standing by me and eventually was making commentary about my night. I didn’t really understand the situation. If i was causing an issue, why didn’t they cut me off? Instead, I was stared at and then eventually made fun of by the bouncer. Not a good feeling. This bar seems to have a prototype of what they want and actively grooms the crowd to keep it that way. On my own, i didn’t fit the mold I suppose.

This is a really nice place to eat outside with friends. It’s right on the water and if you sit outside the deck over looks the marina which is sooo pretty. Their food is really good too. They have a lot of seafood. We had clams and shrimp in a creamy sauce(I think it was called drunken clams but I’m not sure). It was delicious! The waiter also suggested getting extra garlic bread because it comes with tons of sauce! I suggest getting this if you go it was amazing. We shared a crab cake and a soft shell crab sandwhich and everything was delicious. We also got two pitchers of sangria! Which were half off after one on Saturday! The staff was also really friendly and welcoming. The bar tender was joking and laughing with us the whole time. It was really a great experience. Iwould recommend spending an afternoon here it was a lot of fun and a beautiful location.

Definitely give this place a whirl! It’s an upstairs restaurant so climbing the stairs is a must.(I can’t remember if they have an elevator or not, but I’ve seen a lot of elderly here before, just call and ask!) I’ve been here a handful of times. I prefer to sit outside on a nice warm day as the view is just simply breathtaking. On a clear day NYC and Jersey City are visible. They have a deck cover for those who wish to stay cool and and an open sky area whether you prefer to soak up some rays on the outside area. Now, service is friendly and I’ve never had an issue. The Mahi Tacos are my favorite and always a good choice. The gauc is yummy and I loved the grilled cheese bread. Calamari of course too! They have two bars one in and one outside. One wish I do have for this place is that it needs a cosmetic update. Inside is just too old and a little well… «Dingy» for my taste.

Warm Beer from both the tap and in the bottle :( Really? It’s 90+ degrees, I would think you want people to come to your out door deck bar and drink, no? Since the coolers dont’ work well, why not have beer in a cooler? You can get a large ice chest from Costco for $ 100 … For this reason, we will not return …

I really enjoyed my first time at this place. The views of the harbor and NY skyline are really nice to start with. The bartenders and our waitress were both friendly and attentative, very cool. Our food was really good and the mussels in wine sauce were a nice surprise. I look forward to going back and possibly checking out the outside deck bar when a band is playing.

Great place to come for lunch or dinner after a day on the water.(If only I had a boat to do this) Came to the area for Sharkfest, which was actually cancelled and stumbled upon this restaurant. You have the option to eat inside or outside, but who wouldn’t sit outside with great views and fresh air? The menu was great and pretty reasonably priced for seafood options. I had the Mahi tacos which were great!

Came here yesterday to enjoy some drinks on the water which then turned into my dad joining us for dinner. The bar was packed but we were able to grab a few stools. When we decided we were going to have dinner, the hostess told me it would be 30 minutes but it ended up being way less than that. We had the chicken fingers and calamari for appetizers which were very crispy and delicious! I had the crab cake sandwich which I thought was awesome. It definitely started to get more crowded as the night went on. With the great view and good food, it’s a nice little spot. I just wish people weren’t allowed to smoke«on the deck»!

The seafood dishes here are so good. They used to carry blackened tilapia bites as an appetizer which was my favorite. Now, they have a blackened tilapia taco dish with a yummy cilantro ranch drizzle. I’ve also had non-seafood entrees that are very good, like their chicken sandwiches. The upstairs outdoor patio is by far the biggest draw to this place. You have a perfect wife view of the ny city skyline as you eat. The sunsets here are amazing. It’s also awesome that they have an outdoor bar. At night during the summer, they have live music right outdoors. Whether you come for a great dinner with an amazing view or a nightcap with great music, it’s definitely worth checking out!

After a nice morning of birding Sandy Hook, my Dad and I needed some nourishment. Lots of choices in the area. On The Deck sounded good to me. As others have mentioned, it’s a great location right on the water. Great deck with a view of the fishing boats coming and going. Unfortunately, the place was just starting to fill up when we arrived which affected the service. We were seated by a sullen hostess and waited on by a nice yet harried server. But we put the service flaws in the back of our minds and enjoyed the fine views. Good food. Lobster salad sandwich for Dad. Plenty of lobster not drowned in dressing or unnecessary filler. Crab cake sandwich for me. Plenty of sweet lump crab meat and very little filler. The Lobster came with delicious thick homemade potato chips. My sandwich came with good crispy fries. Cocktail sauce in place of tartare sauce was unfortunately, watery and without bite. So, a solid three stars for the food with an extra star for the great view. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area.
