Better Automotive Services

Want to change my review this time. My Wife took a 2003 Ford Escape there to have it looked at for rear brakes. They told her it needed 3 brake cables it would be 475 $, also they took it to themselves to look for more things wrong with the car.
They found what they said was a axle and wheel bearing. It would be 625 $ to fix that. Also the said it needed a oil pan gasket which would be 2000 $ to fix.
My Wife told them no that it was to much money and she would pick up the car.
She goes to pick it up. THEY CHARGE HER 88 $ JUST LOOKING AT IT.
Took it to another shop they fixed the axle for 180 $ said it didn’t need wheel bearing it was the axle not bearing. Brakes just need adjustment. Told me that BETTER Automotive likes to rip off women. Stay away

I’ve been a happy customer of Better Automotive for seven years. Every time, Jeff and his knowledgeable, friendly staff do a great job with my car.
They never ever rip me off — if a repair is a quick fix, they’ll tell me so and bill me appropriately, not bill me for unnecessary parts or excess labor.
Compared to the supposed «quick service» places (who often have a line or make you make an appointment — very much unlike Better Automotive, who have more technicians on hand most days), for my currently very-​high-​mileage car (which they help me maintain quite nicely), Better Automotive’s price is comparable or less.
Also — this is a small thing that means so much — they remember my name. They remember the last time I came to them with a problem (*before* looking at my file). Their shop is run the way mom and pop stores used to be… all while being more efficient and cheaper than the big-​business competition.
The only thing that makes me sad is that I can’t go to them 100% of the time, as I travel frequently, and sometimes realize the night before a big trip that I am overdue for an oil change… and they keep reasonable hours, so they aren’t open for my last-​minute panics. But having to deal with other places when they aren’t open makes me appreciate them all the more.
