Food was decent, though I think for the price you’re not getting what you pay for. Having been to a few tapas places I Providence I’ve paid less and gotten more(and better) food. That’s not to say the food is bad, just not great. While I’m forgetting the actual names of the dishes, we got the fried Sao Jorge cheese, the cucumber pinwheels, and the bolognese. We only got the bolognese because the two tapas plates between the two of us left us still hungry. Drinks were, frankly, poor. For one they were in the smallest glasses I have ever seen for cocktail. The old fashioned was made with sundae topping maraschino cherries, and even my bourbon on the rocks tasted watered down, probably due to the ice they used. If the prices reflected that then I’d have no problem, but for a 10 dollar drink I expect a lot more. Service was pretty good, our waitress was nice, and we were offered a free small glass of Port wine, which was a nice touch(not sure of that’s typical or not, but it was appreciated). Ambiance of the restaurant is not bad, nice big windows in front are nice to sit by. Overall as a restaurant I would give it a pass, and as a Portuguese/Spanish place a definite pass. I can’t speak to Spanish food but if you want good Portuguese food for half of what you’ll pay here just go to Fall River.

I can’t believe that this pace exists. It’s disgusting and bar service is the worst. The owner doesn’t have a clue how to serve customers a meal. The Tapas looked like science projects gone bad!

I feel really bad if this owner is from Spain or Portugal but I really dont think thats the case here. The fact is that this place is just not authentic. Their website boasts foods of Portuguese/Spanish culture but they were basically americanized versions of Iberian dishes. The waitress(as kind & lovely as she was) mispronounced just about every dish we discussed & we actually had to ask for a basket of bread. In Portugal, there’s always bread & cheese waiting on the table before you even sit down! My party joked that the owner must’ve set the music on a generic«ethnic» station. We heard Bachata, Dembo & even Reggaeton… While I do enjoy these types of music, they are Dominican & PuertoRican, not Portuguese or Spanish. Just cuz the languages are similar dont mean we’re the same. Thats like saying American country music comes from England. No bueno. The prices & sizes of the Tapas vary widely & the menu doesnt say how many pieces u get with each, so u kinda have to hope that what u order has enough for everyone. The entrees are quite expensive for the amount of food. Rice is a staple of Iberian cuisine cuz its cheap. For $ 20-$ 30 a plate, they could at least throw a couple more scoops of rice on the plate, even if they cant give more meat. The bottom line is that this place is a frkn gold mine for the owners who dish out half empty plates of half ethnic food & market to local American folk who are willing to pay too much for what they think is an «exotic» experience. If you’re an actual Portuguese/Spanish person, I suggest making the drive to Providence or Fall River for actual authentic Iberian food(for cheaper too). Isto e.

Based on other reviews, we had average hopes… Those were barely met I’ll give you a play by play… — we were asked to sit at the bar, despite open tables in the dining area — we were ignored for a while by bartender(same for couple next to us when they sat down) — we were asked to move seats at the bar by hostess so others could squeeze in. We had to move our jackets, drinks, and plates to do this. — the prices are too high for what you get and the quality of food. 4 pepperdews, two meatballs, and two sliders(made of ½ sausage and some onions each) plus two drinks = $ 50 — couple next to us got incorrect meal — others at the bar were brought bread before the meal but we and some others around us were not. Seems strange to me. Either offer it or don’t. If the food was delicious it would have been worth it.

This restaurant reminds me of a nice quaint tapas bar in Manhattan except it’s located in Attleboro, Ma. Therefore, you bypass the crowds and wait time. This place is amazing!!! The service, food, drinks and bar service are all totally superb!!!

My Husband and I decided to eat here this past Friday evening. The first happy surprise was the complimentary valet. It was cold on Friday night so we definitely appreciated not having to deal with parking. Maybe this service is listed on the website, but I didn’t see it. We were seated immediately. We got there at the perfect time because the restaurant completely filled up about 20 minutes after we arrived around 7pm. Our waitress was named Kristina. She was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and provided us with our every need. She was wonderful despite the fact that the restaurant was completely full and the staff was short handed that evening. We decided to just share a bunch of the tapas and enjoyed every one of them thoroughly. We had the peppadews stuffed with goat cheese; Brazilian cheese bread; grilled pork belly with orange; Albondigas(Spanish meatballs — these were divine); and little necks with chorizo(the broth was AMAZING– flavorful with a good spicy kick). We also snacked on the French fries(also yummy). We shared a bottle of the Juan Gil wine as a recommendation from our lovely waitress. It was complex and dry and full bodied and really complimented our meal nicely. We will certainly return to try more of the menu(and revisit the items we’ve already tried). And I would definitely recommend everyone try this restaurant.

We had a groupon. Only reason we went. Pricey and the food was ok. This place along with its sister next door, Scorpios, has gone way down hill from the start. Started great and the food and service have been worse and worse each time. We are definitely done with this place.

Amazing tapas! The waitresses know what to offer! The only thing I didn’t really care for was there chicken skewers! They were undercooked and less than flavorful. The Mac and cheese was to die for. Also there drinks were to die for. We will be back!

Came here after Lasallette because we had a groupon. Beautiful ambiance but extremely dark inside. They have an enormous list of sangrias by the pitcher, if you want just a glass you can only get the house sangria. We chose the Portuguese Passion and it tasted great! Ordered a variety of tapas, but some are much bigger than others so you may want to ask prior to ordering. We got the cucumber pinwheel which I have had something similar at another tapas bar, this one was just ok in comparison to other places but it is a nice lighter tapas to start with. Next was the Camarão À Moçambique which states that it is shell on, I guess I don’t have much experience with that as I thought shell on was just the tail but nope you get a full on shrimp, head and all so be prepared. I thought the shrimp was quite dry but the mocambique sauce was very good. Next was The Tugga which was steak and a fried egg on a sandwich with fries. Didn’t expect the enormous size of this as it was on the Tapas menu but we just didn’t eat the bread. The steak was ok, didn’t really fall apart as I was expecting but the sauce to dip it in was amazing! So overall, not a bad place just don’t think it is necessarily for me as it was pricey and I have been to several other tapas restaurants in RI that I believe are far better.

While the Sangria is really tasty(especially the red sangria, which is my preference) and the wine list is fair, that’s where the praise ends. To put it plainly, the food at Sangria’s is just not good. The few times I have been to meet friends for drinks and apps, I have been sorely disappointed with the food(a few times I’ve been grossed out). The Queso frito was rubbery and tasteless, the Pasteies de carne(empanadas) were dry and dripping with oil, and Batatas Fritas were limp, and also oil-saturated. There is a terrible dessert that we ordered(at the insistence of the bartender who said it was his grandmother’s recipe) that was some sort of sweetened, ground-up pasta made into a flan-like dish of some sort. It was exactly as you might picture gelatinous, sweetened pasta molded into a shape(sorry, Grandma!). I recently went to a private birthday party at Sangria’s and the chicken skewer appetizers were raw(not undercooked: raw!). I mean, it’s just one bad thing after another. We’ve given Sangria’s enough chances. The atmosphere for drinks is fine; trendy even(for Attleboro). But if you are looking to eat? Go next door to Scorpios!

I went to this place with a groupon. It was more than worth it! Good food, friendly service, good atmosphere. Be prepared for more diverse Mediterranean food, small portions, and sangria(obviously)! Let’s start with the setup. Since this is a tapas bar, things are a bit more designed to accommodate small, quickly finished portions. The atmosphere is definitely bar focused, but earlier in the evening, it is a great place for a small group, or a dinner date(especially if you like to share and try different things). The staff are friendly and patient. The waitress was more than happy to explain the groupon and had plenty of suggestions regarding tapa choices. The food itself was very good. Personally, I love all things sharable, tapas, and wine. This place did not disappoint on any of those points. The food was diverse and flavorful. I ordered several different dishes and more often than not, I was happy with the outcome. The sliders were delicious, but the chicken skewers were a bit dry. The calamari was cooked to absolute perfection! It was tender and crispy, without being overdone. There was a pretty decent range of prices throughout the menu. Some dishes were fairly priced for the tapa size, while others seemed a bit in the higher end for the portion. Overall, I’d say this place was a hit and i would definitely go back.

Got there before the crowd on Saturday night. Loved, LOVED, LOVED the red sangria and the hummus. The soup of the day was split pea with ham, also awesome. My husband had three tapas dishes, the mac and cheese with shrimp was awesome too. The others simply good, but ended up being too much food. I had the paella type dish(which takes 20 minutes to prepare). It was good, not great. The fish was a bit dry(I am dairy free, so no butter). They had put olive oil on the table for bread earlier, so needed to dip the fish in the olive oil. Not nearly as good as my favorite place in Princeton, NJ Meditera. The place was fun, the waiter helpful and good service, the hostess was absolutely lovely.

Went here with a groupon and still think we paid more than we should have for the caliber of food. Loved the atmosphere, lighting, portuguese/spanish music, and the staff were very very nice and on top of everything, the food just wasn’t that great. So maybe I have higher expectations having lived in Spain and Brazil for a while, but of the 6 tapas we ordered, I would only come back for a few things and only one of them was a tapa; the Sangria, the bread, the calamari, and the mousse. Queso frito was a gross mozzarella stick and pretty bland, pica pau(assorted meats) were not very good, pao de queijo(cheese bread) were good, but tasted similar to the frozen brands you can get in a brazilian market. Pasteies de carne were very bland and not very delicious(you can get them for 1⁄3 the price and 20x better at a brazilian restaurant. Probably won’t go back, but if you do, get the white sangria, pre-dinner bread, calamari and mousse!

Let me start by saying if you don’t have an adventurous pallet, this probably isn’t the place for you. It definitely isn’t your average restaurant. But if you’re looking for a new culinary experience without traveling out of the country it worth the visit! I had always wanted to try tapas and when I saw a Groupon for Sangria’s I had to give it a try! Boy am I glad I did. The specialty sangria options were quite pricey in my opinion but we got a pitcher of the house red sangria and it was the best sangria I’ve had! Nothing like the versions you’d get at a chain restaurant. And my father, who has been to Spain, said«Now this is how sangria is supposed to taste!» Good start! From there we tried various seafood, meat and cheese dishes and nothing disappointed. It was all amazingly flavorful with quality authentic ingredients. The entire experience from the décor, to the music, flavors and smells transported us to another world. Spicy, bold flavors, tender meats, fresh herbs and seafood and rich cheeses. Doesn’t get much better then that!

We gave this place a chance on a whim. The place felt weird from the moment we walked in. I think they are trying to make a casual place seem more up-scale(i.e., having the hostess hold the door as we enter and exit. I understand the politeness, but it threw me off). The music was weird, too. The sangria was good — as it should be. All of the food … and I mean all of it … was sub-par at most. I’m a big fan of salty foods, almost to a fault. However, when I go out to eat, I tend to avoid adding salt to my food. Here, it’s needed! We felt embarrassed to ask for ketchup with our fries, but it was the only thing that helped us eat them. My husband will eat anything and enjoy it, but here he felt that everything was disappointing. He got the shrimp in a garlic sauce and felt it was bland. I ordered chicken skewers and ate one before my appetite was shot. When I go out to eat, I want to get something that I can’t make for myself. Nothing impressed us here — it was all … ehh. As we left, we commented(to ourselves) that the price of the meal was not worth what you received. More flavor needed in the food!

Went here with the family for mothers day 2015 and did the tapas thing. They are not usually open on Sundays so we made a rezzie but did not need it because we basically had the whole place to ourselves which was great cos we are that kind of loud portuguese obnoxious family anyways. The ones you sometimes wish you didn’t have to sit near. Sorry folks. Classic Portuguese style seafood dishes like Shrimp Mozambique-ish, I personally think it could have been a little spicier, although, I would rather have to ask for it to be made hotter than have it so hot you cant really enjoy it or anything else because you burnt up your palette. We tried the white sangria and it was very tasty and fruity. They do a killer garlic shrimp which is almost the only dish that doesn’t have green or red peppers in it. The mussels were spicy and made me order more sangria! nice touch… lol, Of course they keep the bread coming so you can soak up all the juices of all the different dishes… my fav The server was attentive, polite-not pushy and suggested great items for us to try. The desserts didn’t disappoint either, everything from coconut flan(yum) to rice pudding(needed more cinnamon for me) and I personally tried something I had never heard of before called a Molotov, I think. It was like a soufflé I guess, complete poof cloud of sweet eggy air and I was so full after dinner that I cant even believe I ate the whole thing, but I so did. It was like eating nothing at all! Wonderful! I would definitely suggest this place to anyone who likes to share dishes and loves a little Portuguese edge. I will be back again.

We were very much looking forward to our anniversary dinner here. The atmosphere was nice but set up was a little strange. There are a few tables in the front, the bar is situated in the middle and there is a little section in the back. The tone was set by the subpar service we received. We felt a combination of either being rushed or ignored throughout our meal. The food was, for the most part, mediocre; nothing great and certainly not to write home about. We gave it a chance, but will not be giving it another. Sadly, wish the chance was not given on a special occasion. Not that we expected anything, but when the reservation was made, we were asked if we were celebrating anything. There was no acknowledgement of this. Oh well… Next!
