Great service. Friendly, personable, competent. My family will not use any other bike shop.

Duke is great. He held a bike for me as I drove from San Francisco. Beautiful bike and as a rookie in the cycling world he was incredibly patient and helpful. This is now my go to spot out of SF. — Andrew

Great shop, nice selection of mountain, road, cruisers, ebikes, cargo.. .duke, the owner is great. I’ve bought 2 bikes from here and was totally pleased with the experience. This is what shopping local in Auburn should be like.

This place is great. Duke has given me fantastic deals on a Klein road bike and a Dolce bike as well. The other bike shops sell some used bikes as well but not even close to the deals that Duke gives. I also have noticed that the other one or two shops that are very close to A town have an «elite» type of attitude which I don’t like at all. A town is friendly and very helpful.

This place is the best bike shop in existence! I’ve bought 2 bikes here & had countless repairs made & Duke always delivers. Wouldn’t go anywhere else for bike stuff! Always on the ball, honest, friendly & reasonably priced. Good old fashioned service & integrity that you just don’t see much of any more unless you come in to Atown. Love this bike shop!

Owners(husband and wife) were incredibly helpful. We got a great deal on a set of mountain bikes. We are beginners and have had a lot of questions about maintenance and just getting started. They are consistently available and have helped us get off to a great start. We have even called on their days off(not that I’d recommend bugging them on weekends), and they have always gotten back to us. A small shop, but lots of selection. Involved in the community and very customer oriented. Questions? Call ahead of time, they’ll trouble shoot it for you over the phone or via text. No need to drive a long way for nothing.

I just got a basic tune up for my mountain bike but what really impressed me is that Duke, the owner, came in on Sunday(not a usual business day) for me to pick up my bike. Thank you for wonderful customer service!

My bike was vandalized! The thief took my seat, stem, and entire headset. I went to Atown bikes to get some replacement parts. My bike is nothing fancy, just a straight forward, simple bike. The components that were stolen definitely weren’t even worth taking. Duke, the owner, saved my bike! He found a variety of used parts to get my bike road worthy! He was super friendly and extremely helpful. Atown bikes will forever be my go-to bike shop!

Owner Duke is an extremely honest fellow and would not steer anyone in a direction other than that which his expertise dictates is best for the rider, and his expertise is vast. He would gladly see you on a less expensive used bike that you’ll have a better time on, than selling you an overpriced out-of-the-box model. He’s also one of the few dealers of electric bicycles in the area. Great local bike shop.

Fantastic local business! Stopped in several weeks ago to look for a bike for my husband to take to Burning Man. Not wanting to spend a lot and less than a week to plan/get tix/fully equip a BM experience! I explained to the owner our situation and he kindly informed me he had a bike in the back that would be perfect for my man. Living downtown near the bike shop, the owner knew my man by sight and was able to accurately guess his height and weight(impressive) and knew the bike would be perfectly suited for him. Since the bike hadn’t been«tuned up»(which is why it was in the back) we couldn’t take it home that day… which was a problem since it was Saturday and the shop is closed Sun and Mon AND we were leaving for BM Monday. So the owner stayed late and did a full bike tune up… so we could take it home! My husband so loved the bike that he is fixing it up and is going to use it as his regular everyday bike :) Since then he has walked over several times for various tools and bike parts to fix/maintain/tune all of our families bikes… A-town bikes is our favorite local bike shop :)

Call me traditional but I think you should actually do what you said you did. The husband found a bike they posted on Craigslist. Since we’re not from this neck of the woods we had a friend come out if his way to pick it up after hashing out details with the shop over the phone. We were told the bike worked great and that they had tuned it up. Two weeks later we pick it up on the way to south lake to find the chain hasn’t even been oiled!!! Now we’re taking the long route in and adding time to our trip for them to fix and deliver as promised. We thought we were getting a good deal but instead we’re burning daylight hours of our hard earned and overly short vacay sitting in traffic and wasting gas. To their credit(and one extra star) they are completely replacing the chain.

Owner bends over backwards to provide great customer service and information. On more than one occasion he talked me OUT of making a purchase because the part I was seeking to replace was still in good working condition. Honest business. Will continue to come back.

Let me start off by saying this place is just terrible! So, my girlfriend got me a Bianchi bike online which took weeks to ship home and when it came home it was the wrong bike! I did not want to wait to ship it back out for a refund so decided to look for bike shops that buy bikes. I found this place online and saw their website which said«We offer fair prices and can buy right on the spot». I called them and told them I am from San Jose and asked if it was possible to get a quote or some estimate. I would have given them the model number and described it which would have been simple as it was still brand new in the box, unassembled. The owner was being completely rude about it and told me to just come in. I drove almost 3 hours to Auburn in traffic. I finally got there and was not even greeted. He took a look at the bike and did nothing a simple phone call could not have handled. He just simply searched up the model number to see the retail price. Are you fucking serious? I told him over the phone that I would have provided him with the model number. I also told him via phone that I did not want to be lowballed since I came all the way from San Jose. Mind you, I had the receipt of this transaction, names matching in case if questioned about stolen property(Stolen bikes are way too common) He looked up the bike and saw that the bike is $ 799+ tax. My girlfriend paid around $ 850 for the bike. Once he is done with his«thorough» research, which consisted of just looking up the model number he offered me $ 480. You have to be fucking kidding me. They knew I drove 3 hours and this whole scenario could have been prevented if they just had asked for the model number over the phone! This is what is so infuriating about this«visit». And come on, $ 480 is so insulting. Thanks for wasting my time and gas.

I have sold bikes at this shop and bought bikes — Duke the owner is like shop owners used to be honest, sincere, and know his stuff. I would not hestiate to do business with him or refer business his way. Since I wrote this Duke’s sweet wife now works with him very nice. Both Duke and Christy are invested in this community help build the first Bike Park.

My boyfriend wanted to check out a bike that he had seen advertised on Craigslist recently. We drove from Fair Oaks to Auburn just for this purpose, and the owner, Duke, was in a bit of disbelief. What can I say? My man is obsessed with cycling! Overall, Duke was very cool, down to earth, and knew his stuff. His shop is extremely clean, and well kept with nice hard wood floors and used bikes displayed nicely on racks on the walls. Assorted bike parts and accessories adorn the other walls, and an old tandem hangs from the ceiling. My bf pretty much fell in love with the vintage Benotto that he had seen online. I know nothing about bikes really, so I took his word that the $ 300 we spent on it was an awesome deal. Unfortunately, two bike rides and a few days later, the rear dérailleur and/or other part just completely broke apart while my man was on his ride home. What walked in the door after a long day of work and a broken bike was a seriously unhappy man. So he left a voicemail for the owner and asked what could be done. Obviously, we didn’t want to totally eat $ 300. I realize this is not a chain store or anything but I personally was hoping that at the very least, we could return the bike and receive store credit. The best I was wishing for? Well, to get a full refund of course, but I knew that was a lot to ask. To my utter delight, my bf let me know this morning that the owner returned his call and said to bring the bike back for a full refund. WAY cool. Great customer service and a business ethic like this will ensure that we return for our cycle needs. Thank you so much, Duke!!!

Awesome friendly service without the snobbery found at most other shops. Duke won’t treat you like pond-scum just because you can’t afford expensive carbon. The prices are realistic too.

The guy that owns this shop is down-to-earth, friendly, knowledgable, honest, and won’t sell you stuff you don’t need. I went in with a bike I’ve had for more than 15 years. Instead of trying to sell me a new bike(like another Auburn bike shop owner on CA-49 did), he just offered suggestions to make my bike better. The prices are reasonable, he does the work on the bike himself, and he delivers on-time and as-promised. I’m sold. Atown bikes is the place to go if you need anything for your bike, or a new bike. They have a nice selection of childrens bikes too, so bring your whole family and cruise around Auburn in style.
