Foothills Lighting and Design is great. They helped us select ceiling fans for our home with vaulted ceilings — a difficult installation. Then they recommended an independent electrician-installer and Foothills Lighting backed up the installation. Debbie, the owner, has an excellent sense of design. I WON’T be going back. I’ve been in here twice. The first time I went I was not very impressed with the customer service. But I thought I would give it another try. I just went in. They close on 30 minutes. All I wanted to do was ask about their services, see if they come out to do lighting assessments and and such. Get an idea of their services I went in and two women were talking. One was a customer one an employee. They continued talking and I stood and politely looked around a bit waiting. Twice the employee(?owner) looked over at me and then looked away. The shop is VERY small so it’s not easy to avoid someone but she managed to do so. As she finished up her talk with the customer she blew past me(still had not greeted me, smiled at me or acknowledged me in any way) and went behind a half wall and said in a loud voice to the other customer(could have been her best girlfriend– hard to tell) «ya and I have to be there in TWENTYMINUTES». Since the store was still open for a half an hour apparently she planned to shut early. I have no problem with her shutting early. I have no problem with her being in a hurry. I don’t even care if she was just chatting with her best friend since first grade. I’m just astounded that it was not important to her to greet a customer with a hello, a friendly smile, see what I wanted and taken the time to explain maybe that they close soon, or she’s so sorry but she is having to close easily. Just nothing. I won’t be going back. Apparently they can pick and choose whose money they want. Which is too bad for them because we have a 3000 square foot home and want to replace EVERY light fixture inside and out. It would have been very convenient to use a store so close to home. I will drive to Sacramento before I’ll shop here. It’s also too bad that this is their first review on Unilocal,and it could have gone very differently. Now this is the first review someone sees about this company. I get tired of trying to patronize the local companies in small towns and being treated this way, and then having to listen to how all the box stores are closing them down. With service like this it’s no wonder. When I go to box stores I don’t expect anyone to know anything or help me. But a private owned business? You’d think they would care about EVERY potential customer. I always go back to, I’m an RN and if I treated a patient this way I’d be out of a job. I treat people the way I want to be treated. Apparently this woman doesn’t mind poor customer service. Or she’s independently wealthy and doesn’t need any more business.
