Some nice, creative margaritas in play here. Food is on par, service can be a little wishy washy. I don’t sit at the bar unless I’m coming with company to just drink. For whatever reason, their bartenders seem to lack basic social graces. Lunch service is really suffering. Here, you either get a great price for the amount you get, or you leave feeling a little skimped for the price you paid.

Terrible. Worst mexican food ever. The $ 6 guacamole was such a small portion you could fit it on one chip. The fajitas came with 5 shrimp for $ 16 and were the worst.

I hate giving out 1 star reviews, but Auburn Marg’s needs to step up their game entirely. I recently went with a group of friends, who had never had Margarita’s, and since we were in the L/A area and they wanted Mexican, I figured that we’d give it a shot, since we’d be eating in rather than take out. I thought that the table-side service would be far superior to my take-out experience; I was wrong. When we came in to the restaurant, we weren’t even offered an option to be in the dining room(for a group of 6), but were told to just go in the lounge and find a table. That’s all fine and good, but once we were settled in, we waited over 25 minutes until a member of the party went to the bartender to inform her that no one had come over with water for us… it wasn’t a busy time of the day(late afternoon), and we had made eye-contact with, and tried to get the attention of both servers covering the lounge. Because of this severe delay, we were unable to get our lunches like we had hoped(we were on a bit of a time crunch), so we opted for appetizers, as we figured they would be slightly quicker in terms of preparation and still up to the Margarita’s standard that I was accustomed to from my many visits to the locations in Portland… Wrong again. I ordered the taquitos, and when I received them, they were luke-warm and not very flavorful. They were fried nicely, but the crema they topped it with was overpowering, and the filling pretty bland. I’m so sad, because I normally love Margarita’s, but the Auburn location is not the place to be. :(

I really figured with this Margaritas being a stand alone restaurant in sitting in Auburn it would be able to shine like no other and I will tell you, it was one of our best visits to a margaritas around. Although we just had appetizers and some adult beverages, it was a great experience where the wait staff was on top of all of the tables including the refilling of the chips and salsa on time! The bar area was great with many televisions to catch the games while partaking in some mexican cuisine. The store was very well kept and overall was just a greta experience for a very short visit for the friends I was with during our lunch meeting. I will always make it back to Margaritas with them littered across the state from Orono all the way to right next to Hadlock field in Portland.

Definitely the worst of the Margarita restaurants as I’ve been to them all. Food is pretty bland in comparison. I cannot recommend.

It’s such a cute place! The decorations are so fun to look at! It was my first time here, and at a Mexican Restaurant, but the waitress was very willing to answer questions. I would rate my food good, my friend thought it was great though, she probably ate more of it than I did! I give it four stars because again, it was only good to me, and it also took us a few tries to find a clean table.

Compare to any other places in Lewiston this place is the perfect place where you can eat and watch sport. They have very nice interior with big screen plasma tv’s around food is very delicious and everything tastes fresh and yummy waitresses were nice but the location itself sucks but hey it’s auburn Maine.

After a very ‘meh’ review from our last visit, we were contacted by Assistant Manager Jamie Perrin. He offered a sincere apology and invited us for a return visit. Unannounced, we dropped in on a Saturday night. What a 180! Our dinners were not good — they were great! Amy had the chicken & steak fajitas, which were prepared and plated beautifully. My Chile Rellenos with carnitas were some of the best I’ve had, again prepared and plated just perfectly. Manager Danielle stopped by to see how things were, which was a nice touch. I remarked that menus typically have beautiful photos of the meals, which almost never look like what is served. In this case, they looked BETTER than the menu! Two thumbs, way up!

For probably a couple years, my husband & I have dined at Margaritas especially for the guacamole & the chili rellenos. The rellenos were special because they included poblano peppers which we love. We returned there a couple months ago to order them again. Yuck!!! What happened to the rellenos? We asked server who told this dish had been changed. However they were still supposedly served with the poblano peppers, but there was no flavor in the peppers at all. Margaritas had a good product & simply destroyed it. Our meal was definitely not worth the price. We will not return.

To be fair, I had Mexican on Friday night here and Saturday night at a(what turned out to be) a better spot. Had it not happened that way, I might have flown with 3 stars. Still, I gave another Mexican spot in Maine 3 stars previously… and it was much better. In the name of consistency…2 stars! Went Friday night with some friends. Margaritas are good! If just for drinks, 4 stars. The house margarita, coming in under $ 7 is very tasty. Pepino, also good. Chips good! Salsa ok. My wife and I shared a chicken sunburst chop salad and a combo fajita(shrimp and chicken.) The salad was not good. It didn’t have much flavor. Probably could have been improved with a creamy dressing, but went with the recommended tequila cilantro dressing. The killer was the price tag at just under $ 13. The fajitas were fine. Nothing special. There weren’t many peppers and what was there looked/tasted liked it had been sautéed a while ago and was sitting in a warming bin. Based on the food/food value, I wouldn’t go again. I would go for drinks! And with any subpar review, check it out for yourself! A lot of people like this chain.

Oooh Margarita’s! My favorite place to down margaritas with my girlfriends or mother. All of their margaritas are pretty good and the chips are my favorite part. Their salsa is sooo good. You can buy jars of that stuff. The food is never disappointing and I love the fish tacos. The restaurant is colorful and the owners put up their own collection of Mexican décor in all of the restaurants.

I am from the south. Like, the south-south. Below the Mason-Dixon…way below. So, good mexican food was something I knew I’d miss when I moved to Maine. Margarita’s isn’t half bad, though. Most surprisingly is the level of heat(that’s spice, not temperature) the dishes have. So many mexican joints(especially and surprisingly, the ones operated by actual Mexicans catering to the masses) have such bland food(which, is not indicative of food you eat in Mexico). However, Margarita’s doesn’t skimp on spice and you won’t get refrieds that taste like cat food. The margaritas are great, too. If it’s mix they’re using, they found the best pre-made mix ever. Not syrupy and you can totally see through the margarita(sign of most any great cocktail). As someone else mentioned, the four star status is due to it being in Maine. A solid three anywhere else.

Lulz, L/A! I remember going to the original Margarita’s in Portland during college and getting sloshed on Thursday nights(Ladies Night!), but I dunnnnno, Maine, I sort of think with the lack of Mexicans you all really should give. It. Up. This is definitely something to add to the Stuff White People Like list — «bastardized Mexican food.» BUT considering that this is central Maine we’re talking about, and there are literally NO competitors to Margaritas, I’ll give this old workhorse three stars. I don’t drink tequila, so my only option for a beer was apparently Corona? Even the other«Mexican» restaurants in Portland serve Negro Modelo and Dos Equis… my dad sucked down three margaritas, but this is unusual for him. I’m pretty sure this had more to do with the family crisis we just went through being resolved(my brother survived the Japanese earthquake and tsunamis) than the quality of the beverage. My stepmom had a frozen strawberry margarita, but seemed less than impressed. I pined for some Tecate, knowing that if I asked for one, I would be asked in turn to explain what I was talking about. Anywayyyy, I got the fish tacos and they were weird — battered and deep fried cod-esque fish on a sort-of crispy taco with a red cabbage slaw thing on top. I don’t even know what to say about that, except that possibly someone should Wikipedia«tilapia.» My stepmom got a salad and my dad got some sort of combo plate. I can’t say anything about this experience was particularly Mexican, but then maybe I should start drinking tequila again(wait, no… I really shouldn’t). I think back to when we used to go here when I was in college, before I ever moved out of the state of Maine, and how everyone loved Margaritas and thought it was real Mexican food. Now I just shake my head silently to myself and think that this is as good as it will ever get in Maine. Pinche crazy, mijo.

I usually don’t trust Mexican places with no Mexican customers, nevermind zero Mexicans in the kitchen… but this is Maine we’re talking about so I come at «ethnic» culinary adventures in this magical state with a very laid back attitude. If this place was anywhere else it’d get 3 stars but for Lewiston/Auburn this is a perfectly adequate place to fill ones body with food. Honestly, all I wanted was a strong margarita that didn’t taste like shit. I got two of them, on the rocks, salt, with Don Julio blanco and they were actually pretty good. No hideous sour mix taste. The guacamole was fresh, the chips were thin and warm, and the shrimp fajitas were juicy although the portion was a little spare. Overall it was way better than I thought it would be. Very Chevy’s. Very«I’m a caucasion on vacation». Perfect place to get lit before heading across the parking lot to Club Texas to humiliate yourself gyrating to dance music.
