Original Mel’s Diner

It’s diner food with a theme. I have eaten here a few times and it was OK, nothing was outstanding. Generally, the staff are friendly.
The prices are OK and the selection is good.

They’re a super nice bunch of people! Food is good too and cheap. I definitely suggest you come check this location out. :)

Good for a Denny’s style meal. My son loves it. The dessert is always fun, especially the hot fudge brownie sundae.
Nothing to call home about.

1. Awful service. Including the manager.
2. Seemed like they wanted us to to get out of there fast.
3. Out of everything we ordered the best thing was the soda.
It had been a couple of years since I had been in Mels diner and I was actually looking forward to it but it was an awful experience. We had ordered an specific salad that was on the menu, the waitress completely misunderstood what we wanted and got us a different thing. We ask her to fix it because that’s not what we wanted, she doesn’t understand us again so she gets the manager. The manager comes makes sure that we know that’s she’s the owner and that she’s never served that kind of salad (although it’s in the menu) she was super rude about the whole situation and treated us like we were stupid or something. They ended up switching the waiter which was really nice and made the situation better (at least showed us that he cared) he was really polite and respectful. But overall it was honestly the worst service I’ve had in a while I don’t think I’ll ever be back here.

I had a special today of corned beef and cabbage pretty darn good I am over for nice portions and I needed a doggy bag the service was really good and Jeff is on his game tonight thank you so much

1. Female staff picking nose behind cash register.
2. Bland food for four.
3. Staff anxious to get us ordered and OUT in a BIG BIG BIG hurry… (Even when it was empty).

Service can be hit and miss. The owner is very nice and friendly, watch out for the balloons ;)

The service here is beyond amazing. The staff at this location have become my standard for rating all other restaurants. Jeff and Devaughn especially make eating here a delight. In addition, the manager is one of the greatest people I’ve ever interacted with. Coupled with the fantastic steak and eggs, this is definitely a place to return again and again.

ok, decided to give Mel’s another chance. such great reviews. I have been obsessed with finding a decent Monte Cristo sandwich since college. I found them on the menu at Mel’s. decided to try one there since it is close to home. ick ick ick. tasteless and dry. how bad can ham, cheese and turkey be. try a sandwich at Mel’s and you will find out. never again.

We have eaten here quite a few times. The food is consistently good, service is quick and friendly. I recommend eating here!

Mel’s is a good dependable place to relax and grab a bite. The food is consistent as we have visited several times over the last several months and each visit left us happy with the food and service. A favorite is the Chefs salad. Served with a hot grilled chicken breast and a huge bowl of the fixings it is a meal that won’t leave you hungry. We have also had the chicken friend steak, patty melt and shrimp and sea food meal. All were good and served promptly by a polite and capable server. The manager is always roaming around making sure everyone is happy and quick to assist if necessary. The dessert menu is limited but if you want a huge sundae then grab one. They are awesome. It’s not fancy food but the kind that is easy on the wallet and filling. Everything is clean and shiny – even the rest rooms. Great place for a young family or the young at heart.

We like to go here for breakfast because the ambiance is nice since we have tow toddlers. Overall the food is good, but I have been disappointed multiple times when ordering the Eggs Benedict.

Ate lunch here. Free parking in mall lot. TV to watch while waiting our order. Nostalgic music of 50s and 60s played. Service was prompt and food was delicious for what we ordered. Most items about $ 10. Inexpensive meal and better than fast food burger places. Take it easy with the carbos (fries, bread).

I’ve been here twice and have felt ill both times due to the greasy food. Otherwise, the service is pretty good and it’s fun to sit in the retro booths and listen to vintage music.

The food & service are always great!
They are obviously customer service or community concerned because they’ve gone beyond measure to provide an excellent experience!
They were the only business in Auburn to respond to my request for a donation for Magnolia Teacher Appreciation. They provided $ 5 gift cards for all our Teachers.

Overall improvement each time I’ve been back. Especially good for breakfast and the portions are plenty for two meals. It’s a pretty solid spot for a decent meal and their servers have gotten better. Good job Mel’s!

I will title this one grossed out!
So I got to mel’s about 1:40 drinks came quick.
But after that not so much. I remind you it’s almost 2 so the lunch crowd has mostly cleared out.
Our waiter takes so long to come back we have to go up front and ask for the manager to take our order [he was very nice btw]
So we get our order taken and our food does come quick which is nice but what came next was the most disgusting thing I have ever seen in a restaurant and I work in food service.
The same waiter from before is taking quite a while to get me a bagel which is fine but the waiter isn’t paying attention and touches his nose with his ungloved finger then grabs my bagel.
It seems he dropped the other half because he comes to me a moment later with the half and says this is for free and that he would be back with a full one in a minute.
I give the place 2 stars because while I was grossed out the food was satisfactory and the manager was nice and came to chat with me.
