I bought a hat at mad hatters for the last black and white ball that was in Down Town(in the streets of down town). It was a while back, i never wore it, until recently! Ive gotten lots of complements, when i wear it out for djing and burning man type parties.

Costume complete with pioneer dress, apron, bonnet and even shoes for about 30 bucks.(They have all sizes!) I came in on a moment’s notice, kept it for about a week. I’m dying to go back for Halloween! I heard about this place through friends with a warning that the ladies in the shop are grumpy in the morning. In fact, several reviews to that effect have disappeared from Unilocal. However, I had a wonderful experience with this business and would highly recommend it.

When you pull up to the parking lot you will have your doubts trust me we all do. When you walk in you are hit with all sorts of fun costumes and hats and accessories from all eras and then a voice from behind the piles of clothes and wigs will ask, «Would you like to take the tour?» and at first you think to yourself«this woman is a little nuts. i have seen everything in here, haven’t I?» You of course say yes because no one can say no to such a sweet old lady so you humor her and agree to «take the tour». She will then lead you to the back room behind the counter where all the tuxedos are hanging in their protective plastic bags and she tells you how she has the largest tuxedo shop around. as you make your way past the tuxes you find yourself walking through Time as you see clothes that roman gods would have worn to the southern Belle evening gowns and when you start to think that this couldn’t possibly get any better she has you follow her back to the front counter and around to a room where the not only are there rows upon rows and isle upon isle of costumes as far as the eye can see but even the ceiling is filled with hanging cancan dresses and beautiful wedding dresses and even prom dresses. There is an isle for every culture and every era. and yes there is even a isle full of clown costumes. Then at the very end of this long room is the isle that has all the costumes from the movies that Halloween was created for. Alice in Wonderland and The Wizard of Oz. Every one is there even the Cheshire Cat and Glenda The Good Witch. As you start to settle down from the huge adrenaline rush that has run over you and you start to feel like an adult once more The Woman tells you how she has acquired these wonderful pieces and you come to realize what an honor it is to have met such a great person. For she is the keeper of history and time its self. Every costume she makes is yet another piece of history sewn into our memories and our hearts. Her shop is and always will be my favorite place to visit. It is nice to be able to escape reality even for just a few moments and think about how wonderful it would have been to have actually been there when…

How about I just copy Tracy’s review? Yeah I know, not cool(ha no button for that) and not original, however she really does hit the nail on the head. My exact thoughts about the place. The selection is beyond amazing. Each back room unfolds like a hidden hallway out of a Harry Potter movie. You must check it out for yourself!

This costume shop is un-f***ing-believable! Run by a 79-year-old woman who is as cool as 79-year-old women come, you will be absolutely blown away by the sheer volume of costumes available here. DONOT judge this store by the entry area! Although this part of the building is packed full of cool stuff, it is just the tip of a very large iceberg. Ask for the tour. Trust me. It will blow your mind. It’s what I imagine it must be like to be allowed into the costume warehouse at a major movie studio. It just goes on and on. But don’t worry about finding anything… it will be found for you. Just bring a picture of what you want to dress as, and Nancy will put it together for you with surprising accuracy. Pricing is pretty fluid – about $ 50-$ 75 per costume for«as long as you need it,» which means for a week or so. Renting a costume here will make you feel like a kid again… it’s like playing dress-up on a massive scale. SOMUCHFUN!
