Uc Davis Health System

Just got off the phone with UC Davis Medical Group from a prior Well-​Baby visit that happened during what was a two-​month lapse in insurance for my child. They ended up billing us $ 812 for a SINGLE run-​of-​the-​mill Well-​Baby visit! They initially sent us a bill for $ 261 which we paid, only to be sent another bill saying we owed an additional $ 551. The $ 261 was for the «physical and inoculation fee» The additional $ 551 we owe now is for the vaccinations from this same visit, even though the reported cost of these vaccines with the CDC are $ 279.
I would have never gone through with that appt if I had known its cost. I gave 2-​stars because the quality of care is good, although I have been happier with the quality at Sutter, in addition to the affordability.

DO NOT GO HERE FOR ANTHING!!! 6 basic labs that normally cost 200 – 250 $ total. These A*Holes charge 3,813.50 for basic CBC with Diff/​cholesterol vitamin D. Just for the basics. These people are why the health system is completely broken. Operator tries to tell me it’s to fund research programs. Initial visit they won’t tell you prices if you have insurance because «they don’t know if insurance will cover everything.» As if the insurance company should have to pay 4k for 200 dollars worth of work? No wonder insurance won’t pay this. These people actually make the Affordable Care Act look like gem in comparison to their policies. Unreal! Avoid this place like the plague!

Have Blue Shield Blue Cross Insurance and UC Davis improperly bills for services. They overcharge and don’t notify you of expected charges. They tell you all your services are covered. It is not until one month later that you find out they are not! Also, their billing staff in Sacramento is extremely unhelpful, they hang up the call when they say they will transfer you and not only that but the billing manager doesn’t return your calls. How do I talk to somebody there???

Unless you have a medical plan that is going to cover all your costs, steer clear of UC Davis medical group. They charge $ 310 for an initial office visit. I thought it had to be some sort of mistake but spoke to the billing department and they said that is their standard fee. They don’t tell you this up front either, you find out when you get the bill. No concern as to providing any value for that fee.
