Awesome hot dogs. Clean environment. Fast service. And Led Zep was the music of choice.

Heading home from Tahoe, I was tempted to stop at Ikedas( ), but dissuaded by a long line and a desire to get home by 10pm, so I went down the road to Wienerschnitzel. I am a bit of a fan of encased meats(Show Dogs, ; Rosamunde, ; Suppenkuche, ; Hot Doug’s, ; Weiner’s Circle, ), so I didn’t exactly have high hopes for a chain restaurant. The place was honestly a bit dingy, but I wasn’t eating in and didn’t expect any In-N-Out experience anyhow. I went up to order and noticed they had a Chicago-style dog. Fancying my home-town favorite, I ordered one for $ 3.24 total. The dog was really quite good! The all beef dog was tasty and flavorful and filled out with all the right fixins’(tomato slices, sweet relish, pickle spears, giardiniera peppers, celery salt, yellow mustard, NO ketchup). The only glaring error was a sesame seed bun(should have been poppy seed). All told though, it was one of the better Chicago-style dogs I have had west of the Mississippi and about half the cost of the Chicago-style dogs I have had in San Francisco(namely at Moishe’s Pippic and Miller’s East Coast Deli ). Sure, it was at a slightly sketchy fast food joint just off I-80, but overall really quite good!
