My friend and I went here recently for a Groupon deal: 2 person — $ 29BYOB«Mermaid Dreams» class. *The price was fine* Reason for 3 stars: *Hated the color’s. A sunset with a black mermaid outline with black waves and a black tree does not say«mermaid dreams.» I’m thinking moon, star’s, glassy water and shit* Rarely picked up the phone, even during operating hours. There’s no way to leave a message. Although emails did work, but that too was slow at times. I thought there would be more free hand opportunities. «The Instructor» was friendly but talked too much about her personal relationship’s, planning to go drinking with her co-worker, and then stopped for a «break» to go smoke a cigarette. Overall she seemed to be on a rush to get out as quickly as possible. I understand if you had a long day, but you’re still on payroll. Work for it. This is your choice to work here.

We just went here on a Groupon — a painting party for 8 people. Honestly, I was a little skeptical prior to the actual event — every time I called, it didn’t seem like anyone knew what was going on; I was wondering if they even communicate with each other. However, the day of the party, everything went smoothly. They gave us a table for our wine and snacks and our instructor, Chelsea, was great. She was patient with our constant questions and babbling. We were pleasantly surprised by how well the paintings came out seeing our overall lack of artistic ability. I peeked at some of the pottery items and they’re really cute and fairly inexpensive, especially since you don’t have to shell out for paints and clean up like you would at home. If I’m so inspired, I might come back in the future. The one thing I do wish they had was a better variety of paintings to choose from. It seems like other places that offer similar classes have more variety of paintings, including great works of art. The options here were a little more basic. The experience was great and I highly recommend it for a fun & unique girls night out.

This review is from the perspective of having a birthday party here. My son recently celebrated his 7th birthday party here with friends ranging from 5 – 7 along with a few 2 year olds. My son loves doing arts & crafts, so we thought this would be fun for him and something a bit different than the usual birthday party places. They offer three different birthday packages with differences between them being what price pottery you could pick out and whether or not juice boxes for the kids were included. The birthday kid also gets to put their handprint on the party room wall and then write whatever they want next to their handprint. The parties themselves are 90 minutes in length. You can bring in your own food, drinks, and decorations. You are assigned a party host that helps you throughout your party. About a week after your party, you can come back and pick up all the kids pottery pieces to distribute back to your guests. As we expected, my son had a great time and that’s all that really matters. From my perspective though, I thought there were issues with the room and the overall flow of the party. The room itself is on the small side(long and narrow). The way the room was setup for our party was a long table with chairs around all sides for the kids to sit at and a smaller table on either end to put whatever you want on it like food, cake, presents, etc. The room was tight and it was difficult to walk around. It was also very warm in there. If you had a party where just the kids were in the party room doing their painting, it probably wouldn’t be so bad, but given the age of our kids, at least one parent had to stand behind their child to help them out. This is what made it so crowded and difficult to get around! If a child came with both parents, then the other parent just stood outside the party room. At the end of the day, I felt like our party was split between the party room and the main shop. When the kids first arrive, they get to pick out the pottery piece that they want to paint. Then you head into the party room, put on your smock, and paint away. Once done, you take your pottery piece to a rack and then wash your hands at the nearby sink. At this point, there is not much for the kid to do until everyone is finished with their painting. The two year olds wanted to run around the shop and touch all the pottery pieces, which of course, made parents nervous. The six and seven year olds simply were horsing around and you hope they didn’t knock into any pottery pieces. Once everyone is finished with their painting, the party host clears the table that they just painted on as this is also where they will need to eat. This takes time to clean and setup for your food, so once again, what are the kids to do? Hopefully not play at the table in the main shop that is used to cut glass as there could be broken glass pieces laying around! There was not enough room for all the parents to eat in the party room with their children, so some ended up sitting at the tables in the main shop. Fortunately they were not busy that afternoon, but if they had been, I guess the parents would have simply had to stand outside the party room to eat. I would have liked to have seen a larger party room and even better would have been to have two rooms – one used for painting and the other for food. Then when the kids were done painting, they could simply go to the food room to finish off their party. This in theory would also give them the benefit of supporting multiple parties at once as one party group could be painting while another was eating. We will definitely come back just to paint some pottery pieces, but I probably wouldn’t come back for a birthday party unless my children were a bit older and I didn’t have to be concerned with all the parents. I will say the party host did a good job and we made the best out of what we had to work with. And as I said, my son and his friends all had a good time, and that’s what counts!

Busy Bees Pottery is a cute paint-your-own pottery place and art studio. They have a pretty big selection of things to paint. I’m boring, so I opted for a regular sized mug. The mug and sitting fee set me back about $ 13 and my finished piece was ready in 3 days. There are a large number of paint colors to choose from. There also was a class going on the day I was in there, it looked like they were doing something with pieces of stained glass. There is a private room for parties.

Great for all ages and all price ranges! Have been to other places like this and didn’t have the selection or prices that were reasonable. Great place to go for a rainy day or to relax and be artsy!
