This is an update, since my last review. I filed, and won a small claims judgement against the owner, for payment of my items that he sold. He, on the other hand, suddenly left King of Prussia Mall, and set up shop at a store front in Wayne, Pa., and has continued to refuse to pay for anything. Since my last Unilocal review, I’ve heard from quite a few of the artists and crafters that have had the same experience. Their items were in essence stolen from them. The real shame in all of this is; Here is a store owner who claimed to be giving artists and crafters a venue to sell their wares. When all he wanted to do was stock his store with items he never intended to pay for. Quite a business model? The current operation is located at 211 E. Lancaster Ave in Wayne, Pa(formally a carpet store).

It’s a cute shop, but the owner(I think she is an owner? She was a Persian woman with dark hair) is really rude. She yelled at me for having a cell phone and implied that I was going to take pictures of everything and steal the ideas. I had picked out some things to buy, and she didn’t care to help me with that. I’ll take my business elsewhere.

I like the idea of nestology. Locally and individually produced items, especially decorative things that you would give as a gifts. It’s surprising to see anything that isn’t mass produced at the mall. The stuff they have however, has has a high cheese/hack factor. They don’t have much of anything I’d want to give or receive, regardless of price. Of course, this is a matter of taste, and if you happen to like the stuff at nestology, then it’s probably a good choice for one-of-kind gifts and supporting local craftspeople.

Urban, vintage, modern… all in one place and all provided, crafted and made from local artists. The idea behind it all? Bringing local art and culture to a location that is swamped with national brands. A location where you can appreciate art, history and beauty of a city in the form of art, clothes, jewelry and gifts. Located directly across from Urban Outfitters, this shop catches your eye immediately with all of the gorgeous Philadelphia art. This shop looks small from the front but it’s long and packed with so many different, unique items. It’s a great spot to grab a gift, find something for yourself or pick up something to add to the décor to your house. I took tons of photos, make sure to check them out! The owner was so nice, gave us the history of the store, the goal and was so passionate about getting the word out about LOCAL love, it was so Unilocaly!!! If I had 2 suitcases extra to take back with me to FL, I would have done damage here. Def check it out while you are in the East Coast’s Premier Shopping Destination =)

Did not expect to see a place like this in the KoP mall! Half art gallery, half boutique, Nestology is like no other store in suburbia that I’ve ever seen. It looks like it belongs in the Piazza, and it’s great to see a place like this in malltopia. After browsing around Urban next door, I wandered in here, intrigued by the window displays. I frequent this area of the mall pretty regularly, so I was excited to see a new store. Apparently Nestology is a seasonal store slash gallery featuring local(?) artists as a place where they can showcase and sell their work — paintings, clothing, jewelry, sneakers, what-have-you. Walking around, I felt like I was in a cross between a downtown boutique and newly opened gallery. The pieces are grouped by artist, and everything is for sale. There are funky dresses, handmade earrings, chic gloves, graffittied sneakers, beautiful paintings, and other odds and ends. Things weren’t wildly price either, definitely affordable… I think one top was $ 40-something, pair of earrings maybe $ 20. I guess it also depends on the artist. They also displayed a little about each artist, and set up their collection in a pleasing display. The place looks really new too, and they were still setting up some of the displays when I was there. Definitely has a cool, urban vibe… I really like the concept of bringing some of the city and its culture out to the burbs. I came here after work, and felt kind of out place with my dress pants, peacoat and heels… not exactly hipster cool. Putting it next to Urban is probably a good move. I hope this place thrives and gives artists exposure to a demographic they might not otherwise reach. If nothing else it adds a little spice to the Court!
