Boll Weevil is a great place to have Southern cooking with a twist, a drink, or an obnoxiously large slice of cheesecake. I have gotten a slice of cake to-go on several summer nights and carried it the 2-minute walk to Riverwalk and ate it overlooking the water. They’ve got great sandwiches and pasta salad as far as food goes, and always a few craft brews on tap. There’s a guy that sits outside and plays saxophone which will make you feel classy as you purchase a dessert the size of a small dog.

I’m giving this place 4 stars strictly based off their desserts/cake. Their cakes are delicious and the slices are large enough to share. I’ve actually never eaten the food here, but have been quite often just for dessert. Boll Weevil is definitely one of the better places to grab dessert in Augusta. On Sundays they offer a slight discount on slices of cake. I did find out when I tried to order a whole cheesecake, that they don’t actually make the desserts here. The desserts come from the small bakery that is across their parking lot and they just sell them. All in all, worth the visit for their delicious desserts.

This place is known for its incredible desserts, but I think it deserves to be known for its incredible atmosphere, and food, too. My boyfriend and I came here One day after a fellow graduate student recommended it. He had the pasta creole and I ordered the jambalaya after an appetizer of fried green tomatoes. I’m from the south, and these fried green tomatoes were the best I’ve ever eaten, and I’ve eaten hundreds. My dish was delicious, but my boyfriends was incredible. I started mixing the two together and by the end of our dinner we practically wanted to start licking our plates. Amazing! Needless to say we had no room left for dessert, but ordered two slices to go, the 7th heaven and the perfect chocolate cake. We ate them the next day for breakfast with coffee and oh my gosh it doesn’t get better than those cakes. This was an amazing experience, a treat I’m looking forward to in a few weeks for my birthday. The only thing negative I could say is I hope they decrease prices when you order a full cake, as they are far to expensive for a grad student. Amazing experience!

The best cakes in the CSRA! The carrot cake is my favorite and is large enough for two people! The food is good too, but the desserts are what lure us there!

Go here for the dessert. Some of the best cheesecake Ive ever had. So many different types of awesome desserts. Cookies and cream cheesecake is my favorite here. Other than the dessert the dinner/lunch food isnt bad its just not why we go to this place.

Couldn’t finish the awesome slice of goodness in one sitting! Canary Lemon Cake with raspberry swirls. Amber had the Holiday Peppermint Chocolate Cake… 4 layers of thin mint goodness.

Two words: 7th Heaven. That is my favorite cake from this place. It is literally consisted of seven different kinds of chocolate and as soon as the knife cuts the first slice, you can just see the beauty of the multiple layers of chocolate. I’m drooling just at the thought of it. Prices are kind to your wallet as well. Whenever there are special occasions that call for a quality dessert, this is one of my top choices. They serve Food ??? I always order the dessert and a glass of wine. I love the casual setting, I always find my way back to the place. It is not diet friendly if you have a sweet tooth. But I recommend at least trying it

Had the most amazing waitress, Coco, on my last trip here and she was so wonderful. Good service + good food = happy customer who will definitely be back again! :)

Come here for dessert, but nothing else. The food is pricey, and is average at best. The desserts however, can be quite delicious! The portion is ginormous! The quality of it depends on the day, but generally is fairly good. While here go for a stroll on the River Walk! If you aren’t already a Google Ingress player, then you should join the Enlightened team, and then you’ll have reason to hit up Boll Weevil more often! :)

I wanted this to be an awesome southern dining experience, but it was not. I asked for a drink list and the waiter told me I could get up and go to the bar to see what they had on draft… what?! I ended up just ordering a water. The fried green tomatoes were good, but the balsamic reduction was unnecessary as it came with a aioli. The side salad was from a bag, and the Gumbo was the worst I’ve had. It was not hot, almost seemed like it had been sitting out for awhile. The saving grace was the cappuccino tiramisu. A lovely end to a terrible dining experience.

Came for lunch, and got the Italian club with pasta salad, and red velvet cake for dessert! Got to be honest, the club was not even close to as good as I’ve had in this restaurant in the past. Not happy at all. The pasta salad was ok, and the cake was over the top, but the whole experience was brought down by the sandwich.

I loved this place. We liked it so much, we ate here twice in two days even though we could have tried another place. I was with a big group, and we were all letting each other try what we had. I had the shrimp and grits with a bowl of seafood bisque. Both were delicious. I tried the roasted potatoes that come with the steak and they were awesome too. The cajun pasta is very good, and as other people have said, comes in a large serving. The shrimp and grits comes with a cornbread muffin that has jalapeño peppers in it, which gave it an awesome flavor. I’m going to have to try putting jalapeño in my cornbread at home. Their desserts are awesome and come in huge servings. I think mine was white chocolate raspberry cheesecake, and it was really good. I was also able to try my dad’s turtle cheesecake and I liked that even better. The seafood bisque is at the top of the list for me. I could eat that every day. The wait staff was very nice here, too. Very helpful.

Our waiter was very kind, the food was pretty good, not amazing. I know they are known for their desserts but I got a sandwich. It has a nice ambiance. I will try it again someday, but next time I will get the dessert.

This is the place to have your cake and eat it too. The décor inside is fairly low key and casual, and while they have a full menu, I advise coming here for the cakes; it is what they are known for! While a little pricey for a slice, if you compare this quality to a supermarket cake — trust me, there is no comparison. It is worth having a little decadent treat. P. s. If I’m ever having a bad day, you’ll find me in front of their cake display.

We enjoyed the overall experience here. My husband’s chicken/sausage/pasta dish was delicious(and a large serving). My son also enjoyed his quesadilla and chips. I wasn’t a fan of my Reuben– it was pretty bland. On the bright side, my husband had enough to share and we both still had room for dessert. We ordered the Peanut Butter Pie and the Heavenly Cake with the cheesecake in it. Both desserts were amazing. The cake slice was huge– we took it home and munched on it for two more days. The service was good, the place was clean and organized. We’ll definitely be back in the future.

Solid lunch menu, even for vegetarians. Prior to today, I had only been here for dessert. I had their jerk chicken salad for lunch. It was generous and fresh. My guests enjoyed various vegetarian sandwiches and thought their black bean burger was excellent. Of course we ended our meal with 3 different slices of cake and as usual, they were superb. FYI: They are happy to bring out Sri Racha from the kitchen if you need a better hot sauce.

Five stars for the desserts! I have tried almost every cake here.(insert fat emoji) You cannot go wrong with any of them. My favorites are the Perfect Chocolate, Seven Heaven and Hummingbird. I’ve never been overly impressed with the food here. Artichoke spinach dip was good. Last time, I got the 8 oz sirloin cooked medium rare with vegetables and mashed potatoes. The sirloin didn’t seem fresh. It had the texture of meat that had been frozen and defrosted one too many times. It was seasoned with salt and pepper with a blueberry type glaze on the side, which I appreciated. The mash potatoes were delicious! I had some leftover the next day and I wish I had more. Service has always been good and they are great with large groups. It’s also located right by the river pavillion so good for a scenic walk before or after grabbing a bite to eat. Definitely worth checking out, atleast for desserts. ****Cakes are 50% off on Sundays!****

If nothing else, go for dessert! We went for dinner, and although the food was okay, the cake was really the highlight. My husband had the Blackened Mahi Mahi with Spanish rice, which came with soup or salad(he got corn chowder). The bite I had was tasty but nothing special. His soup was very thick, almost like a gravy consistency but had good flavor. I had the Shrimp and Grits which also came with soup or salad(I had the seafood bisque). My entrée was decent, but the shrimp were WAY over-cooked and dry. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but the grits were actually a little too cheesy(and I LOVE cheese). The seafood bisque was very good. Now, back to dessert! One word… CAKE! Holy cow, I wanted to try every one on the menu. We ending up with the Carrot Cake and the Perfect Chocolate Cake. Both pieces were enough to feed three people so we definitely needed to go boxes. The cakes were equally delicious in their own way. I’m not typically a chocolate cake fan, but this cake was moist and the chocolate buttercream was amazing. Carrot Cake, my favorite, lived up to my expectations as well. It, too, was moist and fluffy with to-die-for cream cheese icing. The service was okay. Out waiter was a bit spacey — we didn’t have utensils/napkins so we grabbed them from another table. He was a bit slow with filling up our water, but was friendly.
