Pretty decent equipment… not a great process for out of towners to get a day pass.

I signed up as a member of this gym before it was even finished. They told me it was going to be a golds gym. After it opened, I quickly made my first visit to «golds gym». I walked around the building three times looking for a squat rack. Finally I stopped and asked when the squat racks would be installed. Their answer? We’re not installing squat racks. What? How can golds gym not have squat racks? They told me they are discouraging the«body builder types». Golds gym discouraging the body builder types? Fortunately they refunded my membership. Boo golds gym on Bobby Jones.

I’ve been a member here off and on. I’ve tried other gyms in the area. I haven’t been wowed by any of them. But the good thing about Gold’s is that I’m close to this location and it has plenty of updated equipment. They also have the space where a movie is shown while you work out on all types of cardio equipment like bikes, elliptical, treadmill etc. This is the express location, but it has plenty of space and workout options to help you maximize your workout. No classes are offered here, but there is another location nearby that gives you the total gym experience including classes.

Overload in cardio machines. Came in around 7pm 50% of cardio machines were empty, but couldn’t find a bench to use weights. Fitness section is pretty nice, with pull up bars etc… and plenty of mat area.

Have to give credit where credit is due. They called me back today and we’re much more helpful and polite. Hope they continue on this uptrend in customer service.

You get what you pay for here. It is only $ 10 a month with a $ 49 maintenance fee annually, so the complaining is not really warranted, but here are some of the problems I’ve experienced: Lots of the machines are broken. Most of the treadmills seem to make an extra loud slamming sound when you’re running, being really distracting for the gym. The clips and adjustments on many of the weight machines don’t work. I don’t think their kettlebell set is complete. Many of the mats are tattered and worn. Also, I had to re-order a debit card from my bank once, and they charged me like $ 25 or something in late fees. No leeway for a first-time offender or anything. But like I said, only $ 10 a month. Upsides are the machines, at least the cardio machines, are usually available. The cardio cinema is a pretty nifty place. For someone on a budget, this is the place to go in Augusta.

Let’s start off with, I wouldn’t be working out here if my sister wasn’t already a member. I’m not a Golds Gym fan. I have grown to like the place though. Will say it gets crowded and people get rude. Some of the front desk girls are awesome, the others are rude and come off very ditzy. Tanning beds are a little nasty, I was told they are new bulbs, but I didn’t know new bulbs get covered in dust. Disgusting. I tan with a towel under my feet. Two massage chairs, one doesn’t work, & hasn’t been working for awhile. It is defiantly a $ 10-$ 20 worthy gym. Things break all the time, & then takes weeks for things to get fixed. Basically my advice, when you sign up, avoid talking to people who work there, either you will confuse them or they will confuse you, keep an eye on your bank account, and make sure machines are properly working before you get on them.

This place is very good if you are looking for cardio. They have bikes, 2 types of ellipticals and lots of treadmills. Each machine has a hook up for headphones so you can listen to one of the several TVs they have up for you to watch. There is unlimited tanning if you go for the $ 20 membership. The movie theater with the cardio equipment is pretty neat. I actually like that they show very old movies because it keeps people from sitting on equipment just to watch a recent movie. There are a very few machine and there are some free weights but like I said you wont be doing any strength training. Actually they post signs saying heavy lifting isn’t allowed. The changing room is a good size as well. Two things I don’t like about it is the location and they require a credit card with automatic charge if you want to sign up at $ 10 a month.

It’s an express gym, so you won’t find any courts, pool, or sauna here. But for the value, it’s worth every penny. I can get in and get out any time of the day, and I’ve never had any problems with not getting on a machine due to crowdedness(granted I only use the treadmill here on most days). Locker rooms are clean and the open space atmosphere is attractive.

I come here before work a few times a week. I do like this one more than the full gym on Wheeler Road. It’s open and feels more fun(if that can even happen at a gym). The people at the front desk are usually talking among themselves or to trainers so I’ve never really conversated with anyone here. The women’s locker room is nice. The shower curtains are a bit narrow and only in one stall does it actually cover the whole opening(although I’ve never been in the handicap stall). The have a ton of equipment! The cardio cinema is pretty good too if you plan on spending more time on that.

The moral of the story is you get what you pay for. For $ 10 a month, you’re not going to find too many other gyms that will give you a month-to-month membership at that price. However, don’t expect any of the perks of other gyms, even the express ones. For starters, the people at the desk are snappy and super rude(imagine nit-witted 18 year olds who have terrible attitudes). The«trainers» are a joke. I got a 1 hour session which the guy showed up 30 minutes late for and then half-assed once he figured out that I wasn’t going to hire him in the future because of his tardiness. He seriously went through basic benchpressing and curls and then walked off at 15 minutes. However, in terms of equipment, they have plenty and the place doesn’t seem to be crowded except for right after when people get off work. All in all, it’s cheap but I’m probably going back to Omni for the service.

I visit this gym almost every day, and I’m often surprised at how rude the front desk staff is. If you can get past that, the gym itself is better than expected. There are rows and rows of cardio machines, clean locker rooms and four tanning beds for members to use(beware, they do NOT clean the beds after each use).

Golds Express is very misleading in their membership costs. We signed up and then were told after the fact that there is a 30.00 yearly maintance fee. We are frustrated with the way the company handled our complaint. If they want 12.50 a month why don’t they charge it up front instead of being dishonest???

I’m happy this gym just opened up here in Augusta. It does get pretty busy around 6pm, but that is to be expected. With upgraded membership you get unlimited tanning(stand up tanning bed) and you also are able to use their massage chair(limited time). I love that they have an express workout area, which is timed. I also love that they have a theater room, they are always playing a new release movie. The room is dark and they have plenty of cardio machines. The plans available right now(4÷1÷11) are $ 10 or $ 20/upgraded so even though they gym doesn’t offer cardio etc classes, it’s an express gym and is perfect for what I’m looking for.
