Newburyport, MA
A top-​flight small museum with works by many artists I’ve never heard of. The more modern works were truly spectacular and the museum charges a nominal rate for entrance. If you’re in Augusta, The Morris is a must see.

Augusta sometimes surprises me. Based on the number of people I passed with bags containing forties on the way there, I had low expectations that I’d find anything nice in this part of town. Was pleasantly surprised. This is a very nice Southern art museum, with great paintings from this part of the country. One of the places to take visitors from out of town.
