Not the friendliest place I’ve visited. There is no greeting. When placing a to go order, the server acts as if she is annoyed. The only time my visit is ever appreciated is when the nice gentleman is at the cash register. The sandwiches are good though.

I got my food to-go and ate it on a bench somewhere on Broad St because it was too beautiful a day not to, but I agree with other reviewers’ opinion of the interior. Not the most pleasant place to sit and eat. The staff was all very nice and the food itself was delicious; I got a sandwich and cup of soup and then a massive piece of baklava for around $ 10. Apparently their soup is to die for — I thought it was good but not quite that good. Sandwich had some sort of Russian dressing on it and it hit the spot. Don’t let the unassuming storefront fool you because there is good food here.

Had the Ruben… Simply delicious. It was everything you want in a Ruben. The side if soup was a nice little surprise. A definite must for a had cut Ruben of deliciousness!

Can never go wrong with split pea soup and a refreshing cup of Sunshine Tea. I’ve been going here since 1992 but I do miss the old wait staff and owner. The bread was much better back then and I miss the date bars.

Maybe the food is good but I never ate it. I walked into this place and then immediately wanted to leave. It was really dark and smelled REALLY bad like pee, instead of a lovely baked goods smell of delicious cookies and breads like I expect when walking into a bakery. They also had a very small selection of baked goods which to me isn’t a good sign either. I am sorry but I am not buying cookies from a stinky bakery. Total turn off.

Not much variety, but the only bakery in the downtown area. I realize they also serve food. I didn’t check out the menu, but I’ll make it my business to do so next time. Now know that information, I think most people visit for the other menu items. The bakery selection can’t be what’s keeping them in business. They have a great location right off Broad Street. They are next to the Firestone Tire place, which seems like a good location. Parking is cool since it’s the downtown area. You can find a space on any block and walk. The inside was a little dark. They had booths and tables for dining. I may try again and provide an update on the food offered.

A 65 year old hole in the wall sandwich and soup shop plus bakery. Food was good and fast, service good, and there are a ton of desserts to choose from. There is a different soup every day so look at thee my before you go. Also, they let you bring your bikes inside since there is no bike rack outside! Great place to try at least once. :-)

Ok… I know the décor in this place is really dated and it is a little dark. However let me say that the food is great. If your looking something simple yet tasty. This is it. The daily double is the way to go. It’s a turkey sandwich, sliced when ordered, on homemade sour dough bread with a cup of their«homemade» soup. The cost is $ 2.95…yep that’s what I said…$ 2.95. They also have a variety of sweets to choose from. Located in downtown Augusta this place has been here since 1946.

What a pleasant surprise! We stopped by the Sunshine Bakery this morning for breakfast while waiting for a parade to start downtown. I ordered an omelette with ham, tomatoes and onions. I have to say it was the best omelette I have ever had! The service was excellent and the people working in the restaurant were just so friendly. We have head a lot of good things about their lunch and will definitely be returning to try their lunch items ! oh and I grabbed a cookie to take with me… and erm erm erm… it was good!

I was surprised that Sunshine Bakery was not already reviewed. This place has been an institution in Augusta for years. You go here for soup and sandwiches and wonderful baked sweet things. They have a different soup everyday and all are great. Their potato soup is to die for. There are not many tables/seats, so you may have to wait. It is cozy and comfortable, especially on a cold winter day. All the sandwiches I’ve had are excellent. Most recent was a hot pastrami on dark rye. Yum. I have never had a bad meal, this is a place to go for lunch(I think they are closed in the evenings, anyway) and, when you leave, pick up some baked goodies to take home. Great service, friendly folks, excellent food.
