I recently moved to Augusta. I needed fast speed wireless Internet. I walked into a Verizon store to find out what they had available. I explained to them that I was new to town and needed Internet to look for a place to live, find furniture etc. I also told them that the Internet was my only source of entertainment. The sales person said she had the best option for me and told me about the tablet that would give me Internet anywhere not only via the tablet but I could connect my computer to it(hotspot/tethering). It sounded good, exactly what I needed. She said the Samsung was the better brand so I went for it($ 200). She said I would be paying $ 50 a month for 6G and that should be more than enough for what I need(browsing the Internet and occasionally watching YouTube). I told her that I use the Internet a lot and never watch TV. She assured me it was enough for the whole month. I asked repeatedly about the return policy in case it didn’t work for me or the speed was not fast enough. She said I have to pay $ 70 re-stocking fee. I wasn’t happy to hear that but at least I knew what to expect. After spending two hours at the store I walked out happy. I thought I had a good deal but the happiness didn’t last for too long. 5 days later I got an email from Verizon warning me that I have used up all the data. I couldn’t believe it. I called the sales person but she wasn’t at work so waited another day. I took it to the store the next day and waited 30 minutes before getting help. The same sales person finally came and suggested that I return it because she didn’t want me to be in the same situation again. She said it over and over that I shouldn’t have ran out of data if I was only looking for furniture or reading articles and since I have used hotspot she has no way to know why this has happened. I paid the $ 70 re-stocking fee and got a better deal with Comcast. 5 days later I got a bill from Verizon for $ 95. I called the customer service and after 20 minutes I got connect to a representative who said«sorry you went through this but you have to pay the fee». I asked to talk to a manager he said there wasn’t one available. I asked if the manager could call me he said he will add a note but cannot promise. Sure, no one called. I called again today. I asked the representative to connect me to a manager she said ok but put me on hold for 15 minutes. I called again and finally got connected and found out that the bill was actually $ 134 and not $ 95. It was explained to me that I had gone over 6G data; hence the higher bill. After arguing I ended up paying $ 109. I think it is very dishonest not tell everything about the return policy to a customer. If I had known that I would be charged for the data before the 14days(the time period that you could return) I would have thought about it a second time and probably never gotten the tablet. I would have definitely asked around and did some research. So I paid $ 180 for browsing the net for 5 days. If this is not a rip off what is?
