Got seated by myself on a busy Friday night. Waited over 10 minutes for the waitress to come greet me. In the meantime the couple who was seated next to me got their order taken after sitting for 3 – 4 minutes. To be clear, they were seated 7 – 8 minutes *after* me. But that’s to be expected when the floor is staffed by high school kids who just think it’s cool that they get to pretend they’re doing a good job. Because you deserve a gold star just for showing up. They got my order wrong and the food was pretty lousy. Tasted like it came out of a can. They never came by to check on me; I had to flag them down for a refill. Then they made me wait for my bill and made me wait some more to take my payment. I was polite and patient through the whole ordeal. I even gave them a full 20% tip. I know service can have a bad night, and because of that I normally wouldn’t be so harsh about service in a review. But they really acted like they were so cool just for being there, and the food tasted so cheap I just have to call them on it. I wish I had something nice to say about this place.

Always a classic! Great service and really good traditional classics. Staple for local Augustans

Boo! Second time here. Food is over priced, service is pitiful. We want to love the place… it’s not going to happen.

Village Deli is great at what they do. The burgers, the sandwiches, the fries are all fantastic. On this occasion I got the Pimento Cheese Burger with Lemon-Pepper Wedge Fries. My burger was cooked and delivered as requested(cooked medium with no mayo). Village has one of the best burgers I’ve eaten in Augusta. Given the party of 9 I was with, the food came very fast. The staff was all very polite and good at what they do. Everyone’s order was correct and drinks always filled. One hint, they get busy around noon during the week, so if you can manage to get there around 11:30am, they’ll have you fed in no time.

Had to wait nearly 10 minutes when we got there and once we were seated saw several empty tables so maybe they were understaffed at the time. Waitress was seen few and far between for a 40 minute lunch. Only got one refill on my drink after being empty several minutes. There was four of us and everyone got their food at the same time except me. About 7 minutes later I got mine. Food was good but not great. If I’m in Augusta for a limited time I’m not picking this place to get a meal. Other places I’ve hewn to around town are better options.

Long-time local restaurant with a friendly vibe and okay food. The sandwiches are a bit bland, the salads have iceberg lettuce as the base, and the portions are small for the price. I’ve been there several times — never had a bad experience but I’ve never been wowed, either. Just kind of blah overall.

In the past, this would have been a five star review. This particular visit was not so good. We had a good wait between getting our drinks and someone taking our order. It took roughly 40 minutes to get our food. My husband said his was alright. He had the patty melt. I had the crab cake sandwich. It was cold. You don’t toast the bun for a cold sandwich. I’ve had it before and I’m pretty sure it’s a hot sandwich. My 2 year old son’s corn dog nuggets were too hot for him to eat. We were never sure exactly who our waitress was, we dealt with two different ones, and there was minimal interaction. I was very disappointed with this visit, especially since it has been a while since we’ve been there. I hope this hasn’t become the norm.

for an app, a couple beers and 2 burgers you will be north of $ 40! This is another place that you will be waiting a really long time to get a table less you go to the bar and I cant figure out why. The beer menu is decent but their prices are high. The wings we had were ok and the burgers and fries again where just ok. I know its not very descript but it just didn’t stand out. The reason for the loss of the stars has to do with the price, Just can’t see paying almost 50 for what we had.

I like Village Deli. The food is consistent and good. Wait staff is friendly. Good small bar in back with a rotating selection of craft, draft beers. I recommend going and getting your nosh on.

Nostalgic for me. Their mixed club on wheat berry bread is my FAVORITE with a side of gooey fries. Service can be slow and place can be packed. Old school Augusta! Wish we got over here more. Nice treat. Their burgers are also great. Those are the only 2 entrees I ever order.

Best neighborhood restaurant/bar/pub in town and one of the best anywhere. Great mix of regulars and newcomers and a menu that’s expansive but doesn’t lose focus. Dinner specials are some of the best«homestyle» cooking you’ll ever have but there’s a full deli menu and a great selection of bar food. There must be thirty craft beers offered in bottles and cans as well as eight draught selections. There’s something for everyone in your party at this place. Pro tips: get a seat at the bar early on football Saturdays! Try the catfish, even if you don’t like catfish. There’s pizza here. Ask for torn romaine on any salad instead of shredded lettuce.

A group of about 15 people came here tonight for one of my book clubs. The inside of this place is really neat. Reminds me of something that would be in my small hometown. The service was pretty good. They have quite a few TVs and there is a separate bar area, which is nice. This is a small dive kind of place that we wouldn’t mind watching football at. However, they don’t have the NFL package(we are constantly looking for small places that aren’t chains to watch the games at). Now onto the food… I got the south of the border burger with sweet potato fries. Both were really just average. I was hoping(based on other reviews) that their burgers would be great, but they were really just okay. The location was kind of odd in a random plaza that I barely ever pass. It was actually pretty busy for a Thursday night. They have a decent beer selection but I ordered a can of summer solstice(hardly ever order cans but none of the draft beers were jumping out at me) and it ended up being $ 4.50. I’m not sure what normal prices for cans are since I don’t normally order them, but that seemed high to me. Don’t think I’ll be returning.

I keep going back here because it’s convenient. But several of my meals have been adequate at best. I can say the same about the service. I’m going to stick with 3 stars, however I will say my last meal here was slightly better than the previous times. My April experience was better due to better than normal service and I was more satisfied with my meal. I ordered a hoagie with turkey, ham and roast beef. It was supposed to come with cheese and I thought it was also to be warm. It neither had cheese or was warm. It also did not fit the menu description of 7′ sub«piled high» with meat. I ended up putting all my meat on 3.5 inches(half) of the bread. That said– it was good. I had a side of broccoli as I’d not loved the fries I’d ordered previously. The broccoli was very good and buttery. My friend had the DeLite(delight?) salad. Pretty standard grilled chicken salad. So I’ve eaten here at least 3 times though I’ve tried to dine here more and found it closed. They don’t keep late hours. This place is a «Hill» staple, and if you are from the area you are bound to run into someone you know. Give it a try, it’s local.

Village Deli is a staple in the Summerville area. It’s located in the corner of a shopping center. It’s a dark little space with very casual ambience. The menu has variety so there’s lots to choose from. I love the catfish sandwich and sweet potato fries. The burgers are average but good. I Really haven’t had anything that wasn’t tasty. The staff is courteous and helpful. Orders are accurate and timely.

Delicious! The place is a tad dark on entrance, however the vibe is good once u get in. S R opus was good. They have a good selection of craft beers only reason I gave them a 4 was because they don’t have a beer list or description of the beers they have. They should do that! Anyway, food good. Burgers were moist and dressed well. Beer battered fries were tasty and the soup of the day roasted red pepper with Gouda was delicious.

Went tonight with 1 friend. He got the patty melt, which he said was really good, and I got the bacon cheeseburger. All in all, the food was pretty average. They have a huge menu though, so there may be something worth writing home about mixed in there. The food and drink were priced averagely – I got a burger with sides for $ 9 plus 2 $ 3 beers. Also, the wait staff was really nice. We probably come back to try one of the other zillion things on their menu.

Seems to be a popular place for the Daniel Field Summerville area of Augusta, especially lunch. Place fills fast. Décor is American kitsch. Menu has variety but nothing special or unexpected. Service isn’t bad. Usually I order the Healthy Nut salad with grilled chicken — HUGE! You could share with someone else. Salad and unsweet tea ran me $ 12. One of the few places near GRU Summerville that is a sit down non fast food place close to campus. Did I mention the place is always packed? Always. Lighting is dark — almost like eating on one of the Disney Rides(Pirates of the Caribbean, comes to mind). I didn’t see nutritional information posted on the menu.

Awesome place, with a little wait time, especially during lunch time. Excelltent fresh, top quality prepared food, hamburger meat ground fresh daily from local meat market. Friendly attentive wait staff. Offers different specials daily. Great atmosphere, with cool pictures and memorabilia on the walls.

Greasy, delicious, homemade bar food. I mean, it’s hard *not* to be a fan of that concept, but the Village Deli does it particularly well. We started with an order of the gooey fries(small), which was a large plate of their wedge cut french fries, evenly covered in chili, and then given a blanket of shredded cheddar before going under the broiler. I’m not a chili cheese frie aficionado, but these were dangerously good — mostly because of the even application of toppings so that each fry had it’s own chili/cheese blanket. It was delicious, but even a small order was still way too much for two people, so plan accordingly. And speaking of the sandwiches, they come with your standard side options of fries, potato salad, or coleslaw. However, the fry options are not just«fries,» but an additional choice of wedge fries, shoestring fries, or beer battered fries. They’re serious about their fried options for sure. While they’re famous for their burgers, I highly recommend the buffalo chicken sandwich, which comes with three generously sized, hand battered fried chicken fingers that are then dredged with their house wing sauce. Served on a Kaiser roll and topped with ranch(though you can sub blue cheeses), lettuce, and a tomato, it’s definitely a knife and fork kind of sandwich. If you’re a fan of buffalo flavored anything, you want to order this meal. Service was a little slow, in the way that kids from the neighboring high school usually are, but very friendly. This spot is an Augusta local favorite for a reason, and worth a visit if you’re in town looking for fried favorites.
