More Than Curly Salon

I’ve spent my whole life thinking I should have long luxurious straight hair. Well, not anymore! I have a new found love/​respect for my curls. I appreciate the time and education I was given about my curl pattern. I never knew how to take care of my natural hair. She went step by step on how to take care of my hair. I left feeling like I could replicate what Soemma had done myself at home. She was kind and encouraging! I’m very pleased with the service I received and would recommend this salon to anyone with curly hair.

Moved to Denver from LA where I went to the flagship Ouidad salon in Santa Monica. Finding More than Curly Salon was the best surprise I could have ever had! Not only do they have the curly hair cut down, the stylists are all incredibly warm and friendly. Every time I go I feel like I’m greeted by friends.
Every time someone compliments me on my hair I am quick to refer them to Melissa and her team. Curly hair is its own animal and not every stylist gets it. After a lifetime of botched haircuts, too much grease or too little product, frizz, dead ends and everything in between, I am SO HAPPY to have found More than Curly Salon!

Soema is the best for curly stylist for curly hair that I ever met!!! She is wonderful she knows everything about curly hair. Nobody else can make my hair look like her. I try a lot of the curly hair salon in Colorado. I am happy I find her!!!

We moved to Denver a few weeks ago, and I knew finding a curly hairdresser wasn’t going to be easy.
I ended up asking Madison, our favorite server at LaSandia, where she went. She hadn’t been here yet, but told me the name, and I saw they ONLY do curly hair.
SCORE!!!
I booked online for a session with Melissa, the owner. They called to have me send a pic so they could see my curl type. Easy.
I never felt rushed. She let me look at all the ingredients on the products she used (oh, the life of a celiac!) — and didn’t make me feel weird about it.
So…best cut I’ve ever gotten. It’s as simple as that. I’ll be back!

This is a great salon with a great reputation and I have gone to this salon twice before. Melissa is a great hair stylist and knows how to work with curls. With that said, I’m updating my review because I was a bit upset with how much my hair cut was marked up. It was marked up to the point where it was really unreasonable. Simply for the fact that my hair was longer and had a bit of volume. I spoke with several people about the price and many of my colleagues agree that for a haircut, even a trademarked haircut like Ouidad should not be marked up to $ 200. It’s simply unreasonable. I called several other salons that offer the same haircut and they charged me a flat rate of $ 85, much more reasonable. I don’t wish any harm for Melissa’s business, but seeing how well she has done and how much clients come back to her, couldn’t she have given us a little break and charge a more reasonable price?

I received the best haircut of my life today! Melissa did an amazing job working with my hair and I’ve never seen it so well-​defined, hydrated, soft and beautiful. Definitely worth every penny.

I absolutely loved my curly hair session with Soema! She is so sweet and knows what she is doing. All of my expectations were met. She was able to better educate me about styling my hair at home, and I didn’t have to worry if my hair would look totally different after washing it since it was cut, colored and styled in its naturally curly state. I’ve searched high and low for a good salon that could cut my hair curly, and granted I have to drive an hour away, it’s definitely worth the trip and would highly recommend this salon to anyone:)

Loved the fact that I would finally be able to go to a salon that specialized in cutting my hair. I was excited about my appointment, I showed up for my appointment and was 30 minutes early on a Monday, saw that they were closed and on Mondays and started freaking out! Called the salon and of course no answer at all and proceed home, I later got a call after my appointment was saying that she had been waiting for me. Came back and soema apologized for being late, to make a long story short; the hair cut was amazing and I was impressed with how my hair turned out! I asked soema what I should keep in my hair since I would be going on a trip and she told me that, «she would write down all the products». I left with no list and came back when I got paid so I could get products before I left on my trip, I spoke with Melissa and asked what products to us and she said, «you should have gotten a list with stuff to use»! I told her I never got a list but she helped me with what she thought I should use. Excited with the experience i was waiting patiently for my next appointment that was in 3 months. So happy with the salon I referred my family to this salon and as a present for my sister in law I made an appointment a week before my appointment and paid for her visit. My sister in law loved it! A day before my appointment I received a call saying that my hair stylist forgot that her license was going to expire and I would have to reschedule my appointment for a later date, I was already upset because I was so excited to have my appointment. I was very upset with the news and did not want to reschedule, the gentleman told me that no one else specialized in my hair texture and that I would have to wait for my hairstylist soema! At this point I was pissed because in my eyes it was not good customer service at all! So after this event I didn’t not attend and recently decided to give it another try because I did like what was done to my hair. Went back to set up an appointment and to also pick up products because I had been running out of my other products, I asked the lady at the counter for an appointment and what products to take an was told that Melissa would be with me in a sec which was no big deal, so j waited and was finally helped by Melissa, we chatted and she told me that I should have a list. Which I did not receive and I told her again about that I asked for an appointment and got it booked and before I left I asked if there was anything she could recommend on products and she told me, «you should wait for your appointment since I really do not know your texture», I was in shock because Melissa did not even seem to care when it was not my fault I never received a list. I shortly after canceled my appointment and have not been back since than.

I had a cut, color, and highlights with Melissa. She did a great job of listening to all my preferences regarding style and color and also considered my time commitment and skill level in styling my hair at home on my own. She did an excellent job in every way. The salon had a great atmosphere and everyone was friendly and helpful. Melissa took the time to demonstrate technique for me and to discuss the right products for my curl. There was no pressure to buy products. I have a loose curl. Even though the salon is a distance from my home, I will be going back.
I arrived early for my appointment and saw several clients as they were leaving and everyone looked terrific.

Soema was absolutely amazing! Any questions I had she was quick to answer and explained all the products she used in my hair! Can’t wait to go back!

Melissa is absolutely amazing! I gave her a laundry list of things I wanted done to my hair before my trip to New Zealand and she did all of it. I feel confident and sexy with my new hair. Thank you so much!

Exactly what a excellent encounter! I visited this hair salon the very first time, and i also need to say I went out sensation just like a thousand dollars! Melissa performed my colour, and she was useful in informing me what my choices are. We have been colouring my head of hair dark for a long time, and wished to switch to a far more all-​natural colour. She recommended me to get it done steadily, and I have to admit the end result is just gorgeous. I are not able to envision heading elsewhere from know on.

Melissa did a wonderful job teaching me about how to do, protect and train my curly hair. Salon is Very clean and nice atmosphere. She took her time and did what needed to be done to make my hair look fierce! Talked me through every step she did from the specialized curly cut to setting with the rake and shake method. Highly recommended!

Having Naturally Curly hair (3b curl type) I am very weary on who I trust to do my hair. Unfortunately I have had one too many bad hair colors and cuts (lesson learned). I read some good reviews and was hoping to have a great color, unfortunately that wasn’t the case.
Melissa wasn’t taking any new clients so I made an appointment with Soema who was really nice and sweet, but inexperienced. I wouldn’t go back, the color wasn’t what I asked for or even close, for that matter also the highlights were uneven in color.
I made an appointment with another Curly hair salon 2 days later, she mentioned, whoever attempted to do your color isn’t very experienced.
I will say the atmosphere was great and the girls who worked there were nice.

Soema did an absolutely amazing job cutting and coloring my hair! I really am so thankful to have a place that actually knows what they are doing to curly hair. My curls fall perfectly and the volume is so beautiful and exactly as promised. I love the color and I’m glad I just let her color it whatever color she wanted.
I got the cut color package that had a deep conditioning, styling, cut, color and wash only for $ 150. Talk about 2 hours of pure pampering! The salon is quiet and very professional and clean.
Like some other reviews say you do have to make an appointment in pretty far in advance and confirm 24 hours before.
BUT this is not cost cutters okay. You can’t just walk in for a $ 10 haircut that only takes 15 minutes; that will end up looking like shit anyways. Lol This is a QUALITY salon. And I paid with a card and they didn’t have any problems taking my payment.

Yesterday I had a phenomenal experience with Melissa! I have lived in Denver for 5 years and have been to 4 different curly hair «experts.» Usually my time is filled trying to explain my hair to the stylist and hoping for a good outcome, which rarely happens. This experience was completely different! Melissa asked me a few questions and then proceeded to explain each step in the process. She was like an artist as she worked, taking the time and attention to listen to my hair and make it beautiful again. The end result was AMAZING! I have not felt this confident in my hair in years and I feel like I can wear it down again all day. They also took time to show me how to style my hair on my own. On day two, it’s still looking fantastic!
The staff was so friendly and the atmosphere of the salon is very restful. I enjoyed every element of my experience and look forward to returning for my future hair needs!

Got my hair cut yesterday after growing out for 5 months following a bad hair cut. Soema did an incredible job. I have thick hair and she didn’t rush through it, which most hairstylist tend to do with me because I have so much hair. My hair takes a long time to cut. Soema was patient with my hair and took the time to do the cut right. My curls have never looked healthier or bouncier. I have found my new go to hair goddess in Soema!

I don’t think I could say enough wonderful things about this salon. I’ve dealt with thick/​curly/​unruly hair since I hit puberty years ago and have never found anyone or anything that could tame it and bring out the beauty in my curls. I finally decided to give More Than Curly Salon a try for the first time today and I’m so glad I did! I have NEVER seen my hair look like this, I’m so happy with the results. I’ve gotten so many compliments already.
Melissa is so friendly and helpful. She knows exactly what she’s doing with curly hair of all types and I can tell she has a passion for it. I can’t wait to go back for my next style or cut! I have already recommended it to my friends and family and encourage anybody with curly hair to give it a try. You won’t be disappointed.

I love this salon! Soema cut and styled my hair and my natural curls have never looked better! I am so happy that I discovered this salon. I will definitely be returning on a regular basis!

I love this place! I went here for a haircut with Kim, which was awesome. She is a precision cutter who is also extremely well-​versed in curly hair and of course, the Ouidad cut that I love.
About 6 months ago, I couldn’t stand the summer heat and went to a salon within walking distance of my work to have my long, curly hair cut into a very short A-​line style that was completely wrong for my hair type and curl pattern. In hindsight, this was not a good decision. I regretted getting it cut. After growing it out for 6 months, it was in really sorry condition. I knew that one of the stylists at More than Curly would be able to fix this, and I’m so glad I went back to them.
Kim was helpful, efficient, and explained what she was doing every step of the way. She took a few minutes at the beginning, when I first sat down, to really listen carefully to me. I explained what had happened to my hair, and that I was hoping to trim it up without losing too much length. Kim carefully examined my hair, determined what the other stylist in Lakewood had done to it, and what she was going to do to fix it. She explained everything to me, which was very helpful and made me feel reassured.
After she cut it, she had me look at it and feel it before she put me back at the sink to rinse out all the cuttings. I LOVE that this salon does this. I can go home and go about my day without having to change shirts or take a shower. My hair looks SO much better, I am so happy with it and I won’t make the mistake of trying to find a salon that is closer!
Like Melissa had done previously, Kim showed me how to style my hair with the Ouidad rake and shake method. She showed me the full demonstration, and then she gave me some tips if I wanted to switch it up or for days that I’m in a hurry. That was very valuable. I appreciated her time and expertise, as well as her wonderful attitude and professionalism.
The other patrons and all the other stylists were so kind and friendly. I really love this salon!
