I’m trying to be fair with this review. Had I not waited 30 minutes in the drive thru I would have given this one more star. I had seen this place for a few months ago and I had made a mental note that I should try it. So on a Friday evening I decided to pick up food for dinner from this place. Like I said before, the wait was a little over 30 minutes. I ordered two shrimp meals. It included fries and coleslaw and also a kids meal fish and chips. I knew I was in for a lengthy wait when I was offered a drink while I waited. I took a Sprite and it was served in a small cup. I sat and sat and sat waiting. I could see through the window that bags of food were being packaged and each time I would be hopeful. Each time I was disappointed. I waited for 30 minutes! Did I say that already? Ugh. I had a 3 year old with me who was being impatient so after 20 minutes the drive they girl asks if she can refill my drink. I declined but asked how much longer, she asked the cook who said my order was next. That was an additional 12 minutes later. After I finally got my food and got home I opened up my to go box and I was disappointed. The food just did not look good. I have to admit that the shrimp tasted better than they looked. I ate my dad looking shrimp and fries and called it a day. I can tell you that my meal was not worth the 30 minute wait. I can go to culvers and get the shrimp meal in about 8 minutes. I won’t be returning. I can’t justify sitting in the drive thru waiting for 30 minutes. Food was not worth the time. The drive thru girl was pleasant.

Went there for lunch today the lady working behind the counter was totally awesome and very nice. I ordered the fish basket and a diet soda bill came to just under $ 11 bucks. The meal consisted of one fish fillet about the size of your hand, french fries equivalent to one small potato, and a container of coleslaw equivalent to one large tablespoon. I found it to be very salty and greasy. I don’t think I will go back.

Wait too long, prices too high, portions small. Probably won’t go back. Food ok. They said it was jumbo shrimp which in reality was medium at best.

The food is good however it is rather pricey! Either they should give more food for the price or lower the prices. It is set up like a fast food restaurant but everything requires a wait so the set up is strange. But hey to each its own. The food is good enough for me to go back but the prices will make sure that I dont go back too often.

Went to Shrimpy’s for the first time today. We got the fried sampler platter and the ½ pound seafood combo boil. The service was awesome and the girl at the counter recommended what we got and it was fantastic! She did a great job advising us what would be the best order in order to try as much as possible. We got a lot of food for $ 30 total. The fried sampler was great — Basa fish, shrimp, wings, fries, and hush puppies for about $ 10.99. It was a huge piece of fish and with the the boil combo, it was the perfect amount of food. The seafood combo boil had crawfish, shrimp, and crab legs for about $ 13. We chose the butter garlic sauce and it was delicious. There was also the option to add corn and potatoes, but we decided to just go with the seafood. The service was great, the food was enjoyable, the only reason I marked down was because of the décor/cleanliness/atmosphere. When you first walk in the décor and cleanliness, may make you think twice, but I definitely recommend sticking around for the food. Worth the trip! Definitely would recommend the owners do a restaurant makeover to help bring it up to par with the food.

Seafood in a bag. In the space formally occupied by Long John Silvers, this restaurant offers reasonably priced cajun food. The space still has the Long John Silvers feel to it so its still rather nostagic

I actually do like this place. Everything about it is cute. Although I have never had the hands to just sit down and eat here but from the looks of it people seem to enjoy themselves while their there. I have eaten from here about 3 times now and I can honestly say that at first they reminded me of the angry crab restaurant on the north side of Chicago because the concept is the same. They serve you seafood in a bag by the pound or half pound but they also have other dishes too. However I am not truly in love with the food lately. I think for the location and I guess seafood market prices they are fairly priced but as far as flavor is concerned, I think it’s lacking in that department. When you crack into a crab leg and dip it into the sauce the flavor is just suppose to burst in all over your tastebuds but lately I did not get the same quality I did when I first visited. Who knows maybe it was an off day or something. I am still willing to give them a shot. By the way the young ladies at the counter are always so friendly.

I love food. I love independent thoughts. I hate shrimpy’s. Soooo let down that Shrimpy’s had good food but cheap, lazy, and disgusting feature’s. Walked in at 2pm with four dirty tables and at least 2 dozen independent fries swimming the floor of shrimpy’s. No soda fountain and I have gotten better effort from constipation than the workers at the Cleveland Browns style of let down. I cant imagine any reason to do this again. Quite simply: won’t be back and won’t be back with your gastrol system.

Price is ok with the serving amount. I ordered half lb craw fish and get a whole bag with two corns and a lot cube potatoes. However, claw fish is 1⁄5 live, 3⁄5 dead, 1⁄5 worse than dead. The Cajun sauce has no flavor at all. My friend got shrimp which taste like it comes from the frozen family size bag in grocery store, although it is still better than the dead craw fish. 2 star is for the nice people working there.

My wife and I saw Shrimpy’s on Route 59 and decided to give it a try. This place is great! Everything is made fresh and Al, the manager and I believe the owner is very friendly and personable. My wife ordered a ½ lb of Garlic butter Shrimp and ½ lb of the Ragin Cagin Shrimp. I ordered a ½ lb of the fried shrimp and we shared an order of sweet potato fries. This is is not fast food. Food comes in about 15 minutes and is well worth the wait. The shrimp are ridiculously large… I could not believe it and the breading and seasoning were phenomenal. My wife devoured her shrimp which were excellent. She LOVED the Ragin Cajun Shrimp… So much we went back the next day.

Great seafood! I had the Ragin Cajun shrimp and the sweet potato fries. They were excellent! My husband had the fried shrimp. There are very lightly breaded. The shrimp were very big and fabulous. Not greasy at all! This is not your typical«Fast Food»?restaurant. It takes a bit of time to make, as it is all made while after you order, but it is worth the wait! Give it a try!

Shrimpy’s is great! 100 percent authentic East Coast, New Orleans style seafood boils. We had a couple of the shrimp dishes and they were excellent both in terms of flavor and quality. This joint would make money hand over fist in downtown Naperville but I worry it won’t last due to poor visibility, parking and general expectations of what the place should be. There is a problem with the service. It took too long for the food to be ready. We were the only people there the afternoon we visited. I can only imagine how it must be when they are really busy. This is something they will need to overcome to survive. Part of it is the expectation that they are serving fast food, which isn’t really the case. I think the management would be rewarded by giving every table some kind of freebie appetizer, like hush puppies or something, to keep patrons distracted while they wait for their food. True, the prices are a bit spendy but the quality and flavor of what you get in return was one of a kind in this area.

I finally checked Shrimpy’s out after passing it by so many times. Which I can’t figure out why I just discovered this place since it’s at a major intersection I pass through frequently. The seafood here is excellent. I ordered the cajun shellfish combo, which was served in a steamy plastic bag: shrimp, crawfish, crab legs, red potatoes, and corn on the cob. The sauce everything was served in had just the right amount of flavor and heat to it and didn’t take away at all from the natural deliciousness of the insects of the ocean. Service was excellent – the staff were very friendly, had character, and were quite interactive. The place was clean. Even the bathroom smelled delicious, not even kidding. There was a little bit of a wait time as it was a Friday night during the Lent season, but it was all worth it from the second I opened that steaming bag of fresh seafood to the moment I dropped the last empty shell at the top of the boneyard I created. I’ll definitely be back.

Shrimpy’s is a really cool concept for the far western burbs– which is fresh cajun-style seafood. I’m glad I didn’t have the same negative experience others have complained of. My experience was so different that I’m thinking this restaurant may have just attracted a few crabby complainers. ;) I was greeted by a girl in a chef ensemble at the counter. She was friendly enough. I ordered the popcorn shrimp basket and a drink. My total came to just under 10 bucks. It took about 10 minutes till it was ready. My basket had a hefty serving of extra crispy crunchy popcorn shrimp, a fair size portion of delcious skin-on hand cut fries and a cup of coleslaw. My basket came with a side of fry sauce(i think it was a mixture of mayo and tabasco) and a side of cocktail sauce. They also offer packets of various other sauces at the condiment station, but we didn’t see ketchup anywhere– little strange. I would definitely go back and hope to try something different and more adventurous next time like one of the 3 fishes they offer.

I have now been to Shrimpy’s twice! Both times wonderful service, good food and not a long wait time at all for fresh food. We ordered the Crawfish(both times), kids shrimp meal, hush puppies & the fries; all of which was delightful. The owner was walking around saying hi to everyone and suggesting items, very nice man. Cashier was over the top nice, checked on us twice even though it is a fast food restaurant. I am taking my mom there for the first time tonight, she needs some clam strips. Would love this place to make it. Do not let some bad reviews keep you away from a new place.

most of these reviews are, i’m guessing, from people who eat at and expecting JJ fish/Sharky type of establishments. The one from auroraf was the most ridiculous review I’ve ever read on Unilocal.Seriously, you never even tried to place and you gave it the lowest stars? BOGUS anyway, i felt compelled to add a positive review because this place is definitely not the place some misguided reviews paint it to be. i ordered a pound of the head on shrimp in the bag, a pound of the crawfish, and the chicken planks with fries. the head on shrimp and crawfish were so good. very fresh, naturally sweet and the sauce was very good. head on shrimp spoils very quickly so this was a great indicator of freshness. the chicken planks were ok and the fresh cut fries were good except they sprinkled a great spice mix on it but too spicy for my kids. It was my first time here so i’ll know next time to request it without. as for the price, i had nothing to complain about. seafood is not cheap, but this was a bargain. a pound of head on shrimp was 16.99 that day(i imagine prices fluctuate often due season and availability) and came with corn and potatoes. you’re not going to get much shrimp at red lobster or any other chain. great seafood in the bag for a good price. ill be coming back as long as the quality remains.

I was excited to try this place. Today was my second time trying Shrimpy’s. The first time the food was fresh and tasty, but today I was served pre-breaded«catfish steaks» which were neither fresh or tasty. They tasted frozen. The first time my fries and hush puppies were great, today the hush puppies were dry and the fries were warm and unimpressive. This place has really great tarter sauce, but I asked for tarter sauce today and I was told to «try the«special sauce» He did not want to give me any tarter sauce because he was so excited about his«special sauce» which was anything but special. The sauce tasted exactly like ranch dressing mixed with hot sauce. I don’t like ranch dressing on my fish. While the food was good on my first visit, the prices are still too high for the amount of food that you get. I paid $ 10 for the 4 piece«Jumbo Shrimp» basket and my child was still hungry after eating the tiny portion of food. I knew that there would only be 4 pieces, but I thought that there was some new Giant Alien Jumbo shrimp that I’d get to justify the price-It was just a regular sized shrimp. The employees are very nice. The restaurant has sit down prices, but its setup like a fast food joint, that might not work if it ever gets busy because you’ll have 15 – 20 people waiting near the registers in a tiny space for their order. My orders took about 15 minutes each time so be aware of that if you are going on your lunch break. I really wanted to like this place, but the setup is wrong, the prices are too high, the portions too small, and if I’m going to wait 15 minutes for my food I want it to be hot and consistent. UPDATE– A «MR. G» sent me a message saying«Hello young Khalilah would you like to see the kill dates?» WTH? I hope that he is referring to the fish and not my untimely«young» life… Dude is Cray Cray for harassing anyone who leaves a review. Mr. G you should read Unilocal reviews as constructive criticism and not as an attack– take this time to improve.

I Ordered three dinners, the Basa fish dinner(1 fillet), Cajun chicken wing dinner(5 wing pieces, not whole wings) and Jumbo shrimp dinner(4 jumbo shrimp). All the dinners came with fresh cut fries and hush puppies that were good and everything was cooked fresh. The taste of the fish, chicken and shrimp were very good, the seasoning was excellent. The customer service was very good and welcoming, they took time to explain the menu and how everything was prepared. My only gripe was the portion sizes for the prices, I paid almost $ 10 for 4 shrimp, fries and two hushpuppies. The chicken wing dinner consisted of 5 wing sections(not 5 whole wings) fries and 2 hushpuppies and cost about $ 7 All and all the food and service were good, but if they want to compete with other places in the area they will have to either adjust their prices or increase the portion sizes. Too expensive for what you get.
