The place is a slum shithole. We’ve been here 18 months. 6 months longer than we intended. Only signed an extra 6 month lease because we had no choice with the choice our ex wive/​husband gave either if us. Expected money that didn’t come from them. Long story, but we should not be here anyways.
This place is supposed to be an affordable income housing facility. When we moved in, it was adorable and reasonable. We moved in paying $ 1240 a month. It was getting into the cold season and our rate kept going up, up and away! We would get utility bills for outrageous gas charges. There is nothing in our 2 bedroom plus loft, that I can figure that even uses gas. (I do work in the HVAC industry… This heater is not using any gas. It’s a water cooled/​heater unit) They have claimed many times that it is a water chilled unit and a «gas heater». We get a utility bill from Skyline around $ 170 every month! I have personally inspected these units, and I see nothing that operates on gas.
Perhaps they think people that move in here are just going to be naïve or ignorant. I am not. I have had my girlfriend ask them in the office, how is it metered? Really never get an explanation.
That’s just the start. Our water, facility wide, is constantly shut off. Sometimes we get notice, but usually ²⁄₃ of the time, we get air in the pipes or the realization it’s been off all day because it’s freezing or spits air all over. There is barely any notice.
Next, the elevators… South side, you’d be lucky if it’s working 3 out of 4 weeks. If it is, it’s trying to slam the door into you or your kids. It’s a death trap! Management doesn’t care. It’s usually our fault. Yet there are people trapped in our side once every month. It’s down now… We have many patrons that are disabled that rely on it. Fine… The north is working… Nope! It’s down now as well! We were told last Sunday that the south one would be fixed that day. Now both and the only elevators are down! The manager even throws a snide comment to my girlfriend, «Oh, you decided to do your laundry anyway?». No, we are just going to sleep in and wear dirty panties because your running a luxury slum…
If they put up the money to fight the roach problem here, as they did their new «upgrades», we might be happier. But they are trying to attract naïve people with their «new look». They’re so fucking trendy. Roaches are disgusting. We’ve already had our place sprayed 6 months ago. They’re already back. Killed 3 tonight. We are a clean couple. This place is horrible.
Run if you can. We went from $ 1240 to $ 1640 with the new lease. I’m going to find a way to sue for at least the gas usage they can’t provide any proof of. Can’t wait to get the hell out of here. All of our kids and ourselves deserve better.
