I wish I could have rated it better… and there is only so much space… 1. We, along with a number of other apts, flooded on 8 Aug 2013 due to the roof. The apt above us was forced to move out(at their own expense) and was treated very poorly in this process. We received no assistance for 3 days, when a large dehumidifier was placed in our apartment and eventually most of the kitchen sectioned off with plastic to dry it out, rendering it unusable. We were told to leave it running or we would have to pay for all the damages… we were also told they would come check it in 3 days. We had to chase them down at 10. We received no compensation except for $ 20 towards our electricity bill for the dehumidifier running nearly two weeks. There was no apology and definitely no sign of the owner. 2. The complex flooded again with the Colorado floods the following month in Sept 2013… from the bottom and top, again. The roof had not been fixed at all. The entire first floor flooded with the rains(warning: it’s basically a flood plain on the first floor with the high landscaping in front) and there was nothing anyone could do to stop it. It took weeks to get their deposits back… which they needed to move to a new place. Other AMC managed properties would not let them move in a matched rate — and made the re-qualify. It was an «opportunist» time for AMC. In addition, they used it as an opportunity to get people out they didn’t want to have to deal with evicting. If they wanted them out and they had the slightest bit of damage, they were forced out, while others they wanted to keep, with more damage, were not let out of their lease. There was no compassion to be found among AMC… or again, the no-show building owner. 3. They accept Section 8. While I have no problem with this, the problem I do have it that it appears that those on Section 8 will not be reprimanded/evicted when there are serious issues(ie: vandalism, breaking lease agreements with 9 people in a 2 bedroom apartment, kids chasing other kids with knives while threatening to kill them, etc) because they are guaranteed rent. And yes, these were regular evening events here at «the beautiful Skyline View.» 4. You never get a straight answer. Answers changed daily by the same people and follow-through is as rare as the integrity. Integrity is not as valuable as tenant’s money. 5. If you complain about problems with tenants, you will be told to talk to them yourself or call the police — even if the problem doesn’t necessarily involve you(ie: reporting kids vandalizing property, tenant’s kids having sex under the stairs/by the vending machines, in the laundry room, etc). Then if they want to evict that tenant later and didn’t do the appropriate paper trails in dealing with them, they will subpoena you to evict court without notice, causing you to lose a day of work and testify against said problem tenants making you a target instead of them… when they leased to them in the first place. 6. Shady business practices: Example: The management took the application fee for three people($ 50 each, $ 150 total) and the deposit for an apartment when they signed the lease. The day they moved in(November), the roof was leaking so the complex reneged on the lease and told them they couldn’t move in. Not only could they not move in on move-in day, which left them stranded, the manager refused to give them their $ 150 in application fees back, only the deposit, stating the app fee was«non-refundable». While of course it’s non-refundable if they back out or don’t pass the background, the apartment manager refused to refund it due to the apartment they APPLIED for, no longer being available. is 29 Nov 13, they have not fixed the roof. Yet, they are«fixing» all of the flooded apartments and re-renting them out… before fixing/redoing the roof. The owner will not fix the roof until insurance pays for it how he wants… and meanwhile, he’s okay with everyone repeatedly flooding and keeping them in their lease. 8. The water is turned off almost weekly for an unknown reason for the 5 months I’ve lived here. There is no notice; no rhyme or reason to predict it. Sometimes it’s just the hot water; most of the time it’s all of the water. You will be in the shower, you will be washing clothes, cooking, or running the dishwasher when this happens — and it will cost you both time and money to redo your coin laundry/dishes that stopped mid cycle. 9. AMC recently started doing background checks… previous tenants were«grandfathered in» and not run. So, be forewarned there are multiple tenants with felony convictions that won’t move because they can’t find anywhere else to go… and stay here bc Skyline never re-ran their backgrounds. As dumb as it sounds, they will actually tell you this is why they still live in this dysfunctional joint with all the problems. (Out of space though I have plenty more to write about) Bottom Line: Look elsewhere if you can!
