on 02/​15/​2015, I was told over the phone that the diagnostic check was free and it was. I knew I had a major oil leak and knew the repairs would be not so wallet friendly, but I was told their are many payment options for costly repairs like mine. which gives you some relief from having to cough up the dough right away. In the end I had the work done, it totaled: 1,458 ((550 for labor) (125.00 for a strut from the dealer) it took a total of 6 hours. I recommend you go early in the morning, this location stays busy.

My friend pulled into this Aamco on Friday September 25 with an issue with her windshield wiper. Josh immediately came up to our window and asked us what was the problem. He looked at our broken windshield wiper and within 10 minutes repaired it for us. He was very helpful, kind, gracious, and knowledgeable.

I was without a car for 3 weeks. Transmission problem they didn’t diagnose correctly (cost me $ 1000) and said it was fixed and tested. It wasn’t tested. I drove off the lot and my car broke down not half a mile down the road. Both times they never called me when it was ready. I ended up spending $ 2500 and being without a car for 3 weeks. The manager even gave me attitude and said «no, you’re not listening» in a tone when I was talking to him about it.

I have never written a bad review before but I took my car there for a free AC inspection and they told me I needed a new wiring harness to start off with charged me $ 150 to look at it when It was supposed to be free. I paid the $ 150 said no to the wiring harness and a guy from the gym found a corroded wire coming from my fan and hooked it up and fixed my AC in two seconds. My girlfriend took her car there and they said she needed a new blower for her AC and it was going to be $ 600 she went to another place and they only charged her $ 150 for a blower. I guess I know why they offer free AC checks now.

My check engine light is on. Heard advertisement on radio free check engine light inspection. Took 2006 subaru legacy in. Was told it would require a $ 100 diagnostic. While waiting was told it was the sensor and the part alone was $ 400 plus labor. It was a saturday, car was apart, $ 100 already invested so i oked work. Total bill was $ 600,ouch but if fixed ok. Well, not fixed light came back on was told to drive a day or two took it back after 2 days. Now being told it will cost at least $ 1000 to fix. Oh and called the dealer and was told they charge $ 200 for the part (dealer retail). I feel so ripped off. :(

After my initial visit where I questioned the diagnosis of my brakes, the general manager called me back. He was very nice, they re-​inspected my car, and thoroughly explained their original diagnosis. They offered me a discount on the service for me to use when I am ready. Great experience in the end.

AAMCO on South Lamar is by far the best experience I have had with any autobody shop. The staff is helpful and friendly and incredibly accommodating. The manager in particular was great! They were able to get in an oil pan for my car on short notice and repair the damage/​change my oil all in one day. It was a pleasant experience and I doubt I’ll ever take my business elsewhere! Thanks aamco!

My personal mechanic recommended Aamco since the job was a little too big for him. Aamco took wonderful care of my 1999 Tahoe, and reassured me that my truck was worth the repair. What I thought was the transmission ended up being the rear differential. What a relief! The staff was informative and professional and walked me through the entire process while showing me all the repairs on my truck. Everything is back to normal now and I couldn’t be more happy with the results.

Took my car in for transmission fluid service I had called jiffylube first since it was nothing major they wanted 135 for it. So I called aamco on the off chance they were cheaper. They quoted me at 80 plus tax and a free oil change since I’m a returning customer. Got in done in about 30 min. I forgot my wallet and was paying with a checkbook from my car they also needed my license which I didn’t have. I called my roommate to read my license number for me and the CS Manager James said just forget it and have a good weekend. Aamco really does take care of loyal customers.

It’s never fun moving to a new town and trying to find a mechanic to trust. I needed to pass my state inspections to register my car, but my check engine light was on. Aamco will do a free evaluation/​check and let you know what is going on. I knew my catalytic converter was an issue (from a mechanic in Colorado), and sure enough, I got the same report from Aamco. When they quoted the price, it was the same as in Colorado (from my trusted mechanic), so I knew they were not trying to take advantage of me. When I got the car back, they said they had to replace a couple other things, but they also said they did it at no extra cost. When I had to return again later for another part, they waived the labor cost because I had just dropped $ 1100 previously. John was great to work with. The hours are a little tight, if you work 8 – 5, but it worked out ok for me.

I was having issues with my car shifting bad and took it to a local transmission shop and they told me it needed to be rebuilt for $ 2400. I decided to get a second oppinion to make sure so I took it to aamco and they guys there checked it out and turned out I just had a bad switch on the transmission. It only cost $ 220 to repair and it drove like new. I highly recomend them becuase they will only tell you what you really need to get you rolling again.

I took my 05 Mini Cooper to the Burnet location because my power steering was randomly turning off. I researched the problem online and found out that it was most likely the pump and fan– a very costly fix. I repeatedly told the guys at the Burnet location what I thought the problem was– after taking a look they told me it was just the hoses.
After the repair was made my car still wasn’t driving the way it used to so I decided to take it to the south Lamar location and get a second opinion. It turned out that I was right and the pump and fan needed to be replaced. They did the work for free because of the other shops mistake. They saved me a lot of money and were very helpful.
I will definitely keep taking my car to them for all my car care needs.

I’ve had nothing but good experiences with AAMCO. They have fixed the AC, replaced my timing belt, and given my car an oil change. Each time I brought my car in they told me about coupons to print off before hand to save money. When I need my AC fixed, I went to one auto shop that quoted me $ 1,600 for the work (not including taxes!) but AAMCO did it for $ 1,000 (with taxes).

Brandon at AAMCO got my car in for a free transmission evaluation with a day’s notice and the repair team put it through the paces, determined there was nothing wrong and charged me a grand total of $ 0 for several hours of analysis. That’s great service.

Positive: Very friendly, patient, non-​aggressive or pushy, honest, and knowledgeable. Brandon is very helpful.
Negative: Perhaps a little untimely. I’m sure working on a car and producing an estimated time of completion is hard, but i think they should tack on an extra half day or whole day or so so that the customer doesn’t make plans and then have to rearrange.
Overall a positive experience and they really do care about your opinion — which is refreshing.

I highly recommend AAMCO on South Lamar. My auto mechanic recommended them since he could not replace my transmission himself. Brandon was very responsive and gave me the best possible price, which was lower than any place in town. His mechanic even stayed late on a Friday night so I could have my car in time to leave town the following Sunday. I wasn’t able to pick up my car by the time they closed on Saturday so Brandon came up to the shop later in the day. Since the shop was closed he couldn’t reimburse me for my cab ride, but he did give me a free oil change. My car drives like a jewel.

I’ve only had positive experiences here.
Granted, I am not a car expert at all, but I have been generally pleased with the work and service that I’ve received at this garage. Everything seems to be on the up and up and they have great customer service. The mechanics and service manager listened patiently as I described all of my problems with the car in non-​technical language and asked questions that demonstrated that they had been listening to me. They were also helpful and patient in explaining the work that needed to be done and how to prevent issues in the future.
