Very overpriced for even the most minor alteration. If your garment has been worn it is unlikely it will be worth the cost of alteration. Added with poor work. Be very careful if taking quality garments to this shop.

Really impressed with the customer service here. Went to pick up a blazer that my boyfriend had altered and the sleeves were not done right. The sleeves were shortened and the buttons needed to be moved up the sleeve to compensate for the shortened length. I had to leave town for a wedding the next day and was worried Id just have to take the blazer as is. The seamstress offered to fix it right away and it only took 20 minutes. They even offered me 10% off. While I was relieved they were able to remedy the issue, I was a bit concerned that nobody noticed the oversight, as the buttons looked very silly on the edge of the sleeve.

They do a GREAT job, but be prepared to pay more for the tailoring than you did for the piece itself.

Two of the ladies there were very kind and helpful, but there was a third that tried to take control of everything and did a horrible job with my pants. They looked like Aladdin’s pants and were way too tight around my calves and too loose around my thighs. She was terribly impatient and made it seem like it was my fault that they didn’t fit, but they said they would fix it. I came back the next day and she was just as rude, and my pants were even worse off than before. They were my favorite pants and now they’re ruined. Again, the two ladies that I talked to first were very polite, and they are the only reason I’m giving it two stars. The third lady ruined the whole experience. Don’t make the same mistake, go ANYWHERE else in Austin.

Love this place! Always friendly and do great work — I can sew, but sometimes, I’d rather someone else did it. They do first class work. I’ve gone to Ace for several years — I won’t be changing tailors anytime soon.

I have used Ace for at least 10 years, not very often but the work is always well done and on time. Today someone made a mistake and my order wasn’t ready — the seamstress stopped what she was doing, took care of my order and then wouldn’t let me pay. That’s making the very best out of a simple error — refreshing and I’ll be back.

Both service and the actual work performed were terrific. I have met several of the staff and every single one was friendly and efficient. On my first visit the tailor warned me that due to the nature of the garment the alternation might not work out as hoped. Since it was one of my favorites, now unwearable, I said go ahead. Sure enough, it came out perfect. I brought in another piece. Delivery in this case was unavoidably delayed. They were apologetic and reduced the price without being asked. So, I just brought in 4 more pieces. The tailor was completely open to my ideas, but since she did such a great job before I told her I trust her taste and skill and to just go ahead. One last thing, if you go at noon on Saturday it will be busy and there could be a wait. In some stores the staff tries to focus on one person at a time and ignores everyone waiting. Here they focus on that one person AND graciously acknowledge the folks that are waiting. When it’s your turn, you get all the attention you need to be sure your needs are known and your clothes come out right. This is regarding the South Lamar location.

Service is superb I was very pleased with my visit. The man at the front desk was very knowledgeable and generous with helping me hem my 4 pants. Price seemed like the market price anywhere else but it was definitely the service that is going to have me coming back again.

Do I want to wait and extra 30 minutes for you to finish taking in only two seams on a dress shirt after you’ve had a whole week? NO. A basic requirement for tailoring services is to meet the agreed upon pick up times. Fail

These guys are my heroes! I showed up right at closing on a Friday and they couldn’t have been more gracious. Not only did they unlock the door, but they insisted on measuring some pants for alteration. All with a big smile on their faces! Wow, if everyone in the service business was like them life would be great!

On a Tuesday, I brought 4 dresses in to get length taking off for an upcoming trip. They told me when I first went in that it would be about $ 14 for each dress which I thought was great. They also told me that my alterations would be completed on Friday at 4 which was great since I was leaving for my trip on Monday. On Friday around 3, I got a call letting me know that they would not be ready until Saturday. They have very short hours on Saturday, so I had to pick them up on Monday on my way to the airport. I did not have time to try them on, because I had to catch my flight. When the lady rung me up, my total was $ 114 which was different than what they first quoted me. I paid without arguing, since I had to catch my flight. When I was on my trip, I put on one of the dresses and noticed that it was the EXACT same as when I brought it it. They did NOT take any of the length off, so I was not able to wear my dress on my trip. The others were fine. I was VERY disappointed in my whole experience :(

I get all of my suits tailored there and the company has such a charming personality and strong work ethic that I would never go anywhere else.
The other day, I brought in a shirt that had a huge rip and stain on it and asked if there was anything that could be done to salvage it. They patched it up with a pocket and now it looks even better.
Can’t recommend this place enough.

So I will keep this one short and sweet because I think the next sentence says it all:
This place is one of the best retail operations you will ever walk into. That is it!
Nothing fancy here, just good old fashioned fine craftsmanship and very genuine high level service with a smile.
Sent three people there the next day to get alterations done for a wedding. Taking some old shorts that I love and my significant other hates by today to have some holes patched.

I received very friendly service on my most recent trip to Ace on South Lamar. The individual who fitted my jeans was very helpful, professional, and provided clear recommendations. The service was quick despite the number of customers. My clothes were ready when stated and they fit perfect. I highly recommend these guys for men’s pants.

Ace saved the day for me! I needed a bridesmaids dress let out with a weeks notice because the seamstress I originally took it to told me it was not possible to let the dress out. They somehow figured out a way to make it bigger and it fit perfectly! They did beautiful work, quickly and it was affordable!

Got some pants hemmed here, took a few business days, everything came out as promised, nothing too eventful to post about. Good work and reasonable prices! Don’t forget pickup is AFTER 4PM.

Needed a day of alteration and who saved the day? ACE!
Ace has the reputation (at least from my circle) of being overpriced, but for a same day service I’d say an extra 3 $ ain’t too shabby!
The gals were very nice and helpful. Service only took an hour-​ish! Even when I said I’d be back in 6 hours.
Oh! And checked-​in for an extra 10% off!

I have used Ace Tailors over a dozen times, mostly for hemming pants but also taking in a couple side seams on blouses and jackets.
I have always had professional and courteous service with everyone that assisted me and took measurements.
All of my clothing items were ready on time as promised and they do an excellent job on alterations. Ace Tailors has a high quality service and they really know what they are doing because they get your input when taking measurements and pinning clothes for modification.
I sincerely recommend this company as they will get your alterations done professionally and in a timely manner.

I can’t speak much to the complaining Bridezilla reviews. Seems like some people shouldn’t wait to the last minute to let the mid section out of the dress for their special magical moment that everyone else is hassled to deal with (because no matter what your friends say. they hate being in your wedding)… but I digress.
I stopped by today to get a pair of pants let out (they shrunk, okay. I’m totally not fat). And my suit coat let out also (I’ve been in the gym, shut up).
I walked in an immediately got the vibe that «people here know what the Hell they’re doing». There’s a buzz of 3 or 4 tailors working with people, a handful of customers all getting attended to, and again, much like walking into any passionate, knowledgeable small business you could just tell this place was legit.
I’m helped immediately by Kimberly. She tells me that since my pants shrunk (I swear to God, shut up I’m not fat) and the matching suit couldn’t be let out due to the hems that she’d gladly give me some new measurements so I could get a proper fit. 5 minutes later (mind you this was between other customers who were all equally pleased) I walk out with my new measurements as well as a referral for 2 different suit makers in town for my ballin’ on a budget lifestyle.
This place is the SHIZ NITE! And seriously, ignore the Whaa Burger and French Cries reviews. Those people are upset at the schlubby idiot they’re about to be married to for 2 and a half years, not Ace Custom Tailors.

I come to Ace with my valuable clothing pieces because they always execute high-​quality tailoring. The customer service is excellent, and they cater to my specific requests. I also fully trust the judgement of the staff because they never fail to produce new-​and-​improved, custom-​tailored versions of my clothing. Thank you!
