We’ve used Joe Zakes and Almost Perfect on a couple of jobs now, a bathroom redo and currently a sunroom/patio. Joe has a lot to be commended for. He listens to what you want and always double checks. He makes suggestions on how to make things more workable. He responds quickly to phone calls, and is always there when he says he will be. In fact you could say that about all of the people he contracts with as well; they always show up when they say they will. There are very, very few days when nothing is going on. This was especially nice during the bathroom work. There are few things more frustrating that to see your house torn up or half done and no one doing anything about it. Also, Joe keeps up with his jobs personally. He is always is there to make sure the next phase gets going the way it is supposed to(he stopped by almost every day during the bathroom job). His people also tidy up as best they can each day, and completely when the job is done. Finally, the quality of the work is excellent. The stain is what you asked for, the paint is right, the tiles are level and lined up… I suppose if I had to ding him for something it would be that he isn’t cheap. While I haven’t bid out every firm in Austin, his prices are definitely on the high side of what I have seen. But I say: deal with it. Quality, attention to detail, and timely work are rare and well worth the dollars. And his bids reflect reasonable costs for materials, not insanely cheap stuff. If you need major work done, he’s your guy.
