Atomic gives me LIFE!!! If you’re able to submit to discomfort and embrace a bit of suck, then you will be amazed at the tremendous amount of growth you will experience. The growth in both mental & physical fitness will be a function of your willingness to consistently show up, and the top-​notch coaching administered by the Atomic staff. Having traditionally weight trained for 20+ years at standard style gyms, and now training in mixed martial arts (Brazilian jujitsu, thai boxing, and Krav Maga); I needed a better and more interesting way to increase physical and mental strength so I tried a 1 hour class at Atomic Athlete, and boy did I get a workout!
The gentleman of Atomic have engineered a structured training program with specific goals for strengthening the human body in ways that benefit athletes. The coaches are very nurturing for the beginner, which I was despite my prior traditional gym experience, and the pace is controlled by you so there’s no pressure to push yourself further than you’re comfortable with; these men just simply encourage and guide you to maximize your effort.
I am a happy member of Atomic Athlete, and the benefits the training programs have provided show in my physical gains in strength and size, which positively effects my jujitsu and Thai boxing! I’m hooked, line, and sinker!

Embrace the suck. If you can’t wrap your head around that, this may not be the place for you.
I have been a member of Atomic Athlete for about 2 and a half years now. Everything about Atomic deserves 5 stars in my opinion. From the coaches, to the programming, to the athletes that train there. With that said, it certainly isn’t for everybody. We do not have air conditioning. The sound track will vary from showtunes to death metal. The conversations will not be PC. The coaching may not always be PG-​13.
If you are looking for an alternative to other gyms in the Austin area, are ready to work hard and want to meet some genuinely good people, put on your big boy/​big girl pants and head on over for an orientation. You’ll leave as a sad panda, but probably be addicted to the suck.

I just joined a few weeks ago. This is a great gym. I have already learned a lot after 3 classes. The coaches are very thorough with attention to detail. Its a good community with people who want to be better every time. It’s not an easy workout… but you can’t have it easy when you aim for progress.

If you are an amateur or professional athlete looking for sport specific training go to Atomic. The coaches are extremely knowledgeable and the environment is great. I have been in combat sports most of my life, and the Atomic Athlete program has given me the best results!

A horrible place, run by ugly and unpleasant, to not say unprofessional people.
I visited this box 1 year ago, something today reminded me of the experience. I asked about the gym and was looked at up and down and ignored. I waited and tried to ask the person some questions and they said that I would have to take 1 month of olympic lifting if I wanted to join. How did they know whether I knew olympic lifting or not? I asked about joining and I was told curtly to go to the website.
I wrote to the owners, bar people apparently, they never responded. I wonder why?
Austin is wonderful, I just love it, not.

Check your egos at the door because this gym is all about enhancing you as an athlete and not competing with the bro lifting 4 feet away. The coaches take time to watch/​correct/​encourage every person on the floor and to me, that precise educational and foundational component is where I want to put my money into a «gym» membership.

I’m a full-​time trainer w/​my own business & Atomic is where I choose to go to supplement the base of my strength & work capacity training. It is a fun, legit, functional training facility w/​a host of diverse coaches imparting a wealth of knowledge. Not to mention the diversity of the people who attend.
Honestly Atomic may not be for everyone, only b/​c the people there are straightforward & unapologetic about their approach to fitness; they will not coddle you, but they will definitely make you «Stronger; Faster & Harder to Kill». I have been attending for 3 odd years & it’s one of my favourite places to be. The workouts, the people, they’ve become another ATX family for me. Freaking awesome Atomic ;)

Atomic Athlete has become a major part of my life the last two years. It took about a year of my friends convincing me to join to try it out and after my first session I was hooked. I never have had a hard time motivating myself to get in the gym and I always struggled with group training. Mainly groups were hard for me because I would get bored/​not be able to find women that wanted to work as hard as I do.
Atomic never allows for boredom. The workouts are programmed to make you work and make you work hard. However they are not programed without a purpose. Each session, each movement is making you better at something else. Atomic has changed the way I view «working out.» Now every time I walk into the gym I am training for life. I am training to be a better version of myself outside of the gym.
The community of people is something that has kept me coming back to Atomic. The coaches are knowledgable and experienced and the athletes are a strong community of hard working people who will support and respect you.

I have been training at Atomic for over 2 years, and initially I was very intimidated to join.
I am not the traditional definition of an «athlete». I expected the training to be impossible.
But I found that with the right mental fitness, I can do anything. I LOVE that about Atomic. They train your mental fitness as much as your physical fitness. And it goes beyond pushing through the pain. They teach you strategies that actually work and make you better.
I expected it to be full of arrogant athletes who would judge my lack of fitness.
I have never been in a more supportive gym environment in my life. From the coaches to the athletes… everyone…literally everyone… at Atomic Athlete is encouraging and friendly. These people are my family now, and I couldn’t imagine training without them.
I expected to get bored and move on after a few months… like I always do.
The programming at Atomic Athlete is world class. I don’t have to be a professional athlete to know these people know what they are doing. I was used to doing workouts that «toned your abs» and «tightened your glutes». Atomic Athlete uses hybrid training to make you «Stronger, Faster and Harder to Kill». By focusing on fitness and strength vs. how I looked in my spandex, I actually started to see the changes in my body. Results along with constantly being challenged keeps me coming back. I am never bored and always excited to find out what they have in store for us next.

Far and above the best training facility in town. However be warned, this is not for the faint of heart. The coaching and programming is first class. Everything is designed with a purpose. Jake & Tod have created an amazing environment of individuals who are supportive and holds each other accountable. To grind through grueling sessions among fellow athletes creates a camaraderie like any other.

It took me awhile to make the switch to Atomic. I was intimidated by the general badassity of the place. But after an injury that just wasn’t healing at my good ol’ local CF facility I knew I needed to suck it up and pay Atomic a visit. Atomic has always had the reputation of solid programming and coaching. These guys are all-​out geeks about it. Nothing and I mean nothing is without design. My first visit was an observation, after which the coach geeked out about programming for nearly 2 hours. He simply oozed a passion and knowledge for this stuff.
3 years later I can say without any hesitation that the Coaches still ooze passion, geekery and genuine care about programming & coaching. I know I can ask a coach anything about WHY we are doing something and get a genuine answer. Today I’m stronger, more confident in my movement and am all around a more physically capable human being (not to mention I have leaned and toned up like never before — hello sexy naked!). The only regret I have was not making the switch sooner — I just might have saved myself from that injury in the first place.
Oh and that intimidation that kept me away for so long, completely 100% unfounded! No one cares how strong, fast or capable you are. The only thing anyone sees is the attitude and work ethic you bring through the gym doors. Show up on-​time, respect your team & coaches, be positive, work hard and you will fit right in.

As a big process person, I really appreciate their dedication to having a method behind the madness. The workouts are tough, but they are well thought out and programmed and they will explain to you WHY you are training this way. If you want to test yourself, be pushed past your limits, gain both mental and physical strength, and train with some of the best people in Austin, Atomic is the place for you.
And, not only is Atomic about getting you strong in the gym, it also wants you to take those gains outside — whether that’s to the mat, the trail, or the mountains. The coaches will work with you to tailor the programming to your goals so that it will be an asset to your sport-​specific training.

Atomic Athlete is second to none. I will say its not for everyone but it is for those looking to improve themselves. The carryover from the in the gym workouts to the outside world just makes everything easier to do and deal with. Stick to programing and listen to the coaches and you have no choice but to improve. I’ve been going to Atomic for a little over 5 months now and it’s been a game changer for me. This gym is not for the faint of heart and you have to be prepared to come work, but you get out of it exactly what you put in. When I started I couldn’t squat, clean or jerk for s**t and now it’s like a night and day difference from when I first started. I’m stronger, I’ve put on the weight I was looking for and my overall fitness is 10x better than when I first started.
The coaches stay on you about proper form and they won’t get you get away with taking the easy way out. The camaraderie in the gym is uplifting and sometimes when you’re the last one finishing a circuit, the words of encouragement from other athletes and coaches really help you get over the finish line.
I highly recommend this gym to anyone who wants to completely overhaul their physical and mental fitness. The programming is tough, but if you stay with it and put in the work, you’ll get the results you want.

Having never experienced group coaching or Olympic lifting at this high intensity, starting out was an uphill battle. The coaches didn’t give up on me. Their strict intolerance for improper form and carefully crafted goal-​oriented strength/​stamina/​work-​capacity cycles made me into a new kind of athlete.
