My husband purchased a TiVo Première to replace a TiVo HD that is hooked up to a component amp/​distributor. When he powered up the new unit up this morning we saw a green horizontal bar on all of the TVs throughout the house that are receiving the component signal from the amp. Bummer!
Some Googling led us to believe we had a ground loop issue, but we needed help confirming that diagnosis and we had no idea how to fix it. Reluctantly, I contacted the company that had installed the original system two years ago. They had not been at all friendly (nor terribly helpful with trouble shooting) at the time of the original installation, but I didn’t know who else to turn to. A phone call to them confirmed that they wouldn’t be much help. They suggested I buy some grounded plug adapters and put them on all the TVs in the house and/​or disconnect the ground on our cable input outside the house. Hmm. Not exactly the professional solution I was looking for. I did not feel those were safe ideas so I turned to Unilocal to look for someone else who might know about custom AV home installation. Luckily, I saw Austin Audio Tech’s page and gave them a call.
I spoke with one of the partners and he took the time to carefully listen while I explained my problem. He consulted with his partners who happened to be there and they agreed with the diagnosis (ground loop issue) and knew how to solve it. They warned that the part I needed would be expensive, but that I could likely Google to find it and easily install it myself. WOW. What a great company! They knew I didn’t know what I was doing, they easily could have told me they needed to come out and check out the problem and charged me for the service and part. But they didn’t do that. They helped me with nothing to gain for themselves. I cannot wait until I have some other A/​V installation issue so that I can actually give them my business. They are exactly the kind of company I would love to use and recommend to friends like y’all.

Extremely professional hi-​fi installation. I had a LCD TV wall mounted as well as 5 ceiling mount speakers and subwoofer installed and wired to my existing components. Bill and his crew were able to come in and get everything installed correctly the first time around. Bill has experience as a general contractor so you don’t have to be nervous when he has to custom install anything. You’ll pay a little extra, but these guys are well worth the cost. You get what you pay for; these guys rock!!!
