I’d seen a BBQ sign at the East Side Food Court for a few weeks. Thinking Danny’s had returned, I made note and finally had the chance to go today. Danny’s(or any palatable bbq establishment) it is certainly not. As I looked over the menu, the first tip-off that this might not be a serious bbq place were the vegan selections. And they only serve brisket. In hopes that I was wrong, I thought to myself, ‘Well, maybe it’s a matter of sticking to what they do best.” That optimism would not hold up. I waited nearly five minutes before they guy even came to the window. I ordered the brisket place with two sides, then waited another 15 minutes to get the food. The brisket was warm, but that’s all it had going for it. This bundle of sinew gave my jaw a workout like it’s never seen. Hard and beyond chewy. And the smoke taste was not the natural kind that I could tell. I fear the wood was salvaged from a nearby construction site. Although the steamed broccoli was good, the coleslaw was on par with the quality of the brisket. It had an odd flavor not fit for coleslaw. I’m sorry to say, but I think this will be another gone-tomorrow truck in this park. There’s nothing to recommend here.
