They fixed my computer in half the time they originally thought it would take, and were clear and straightforward both about what had happened and the options we had to fix it. Overall, it was a very positive experience in a very stressful situation.

Fast, friendly and validated parking. Took my 6+ in for an iSight replacement (blurry photos). Within 45 minutes phone was fixed, paperwork was done and I wasn’t charged a cent — warrantied. A lot quicker and easier than the Barton Springs mall location for Apple service. 10 outta 10.

These guys really helped out in a pinch. We had a laptop with some extensive water damage and they took it same day. Less than 24 hours we got the diagnosis that the laptop was bunk (no surprise there), but they’d be happy to transfer the data. After a few missteps on my part and a couple days later, we got the appropriate hardware to them and they transferred everything. They were really great, especially considering I wasn’t really on the ball, so they had to hold onto the laptop for a while, and they didn’t even sweat it. The prices were cheaper than I was expecting (since they applied the diagnosis fee towards the extra services), and they were very pleasant. They’ll be who I recommend to anyone with Mac trouble.

This place is a scam. I went in for a startup disk so i could wipe 2 Macbook Pro’s. The guy told me they didn’t have any disks but I could leave my machines there so they could wipe them. What a joke. If they can wipe it, then they have disks back there. What a bunch of shadeballs. I would have been happy to pay a fee to get the disk, sit there, and wipe my own box. I tried to give them some business since they are local, but instead they got $ 0 for 0 hours of their time, and I will now inform all i know that this place is a rip off.

This place is the worse business I have worked with in a very long time. They are completely condescending, rude, not very intelligent and incompetent at their job. They were suppose to replace my boss’s hard drive on his computer and when we got his computer back they had given us the wrong computer. We had access to someone’s entire everything including email, photos, hard drive, etc. They sound like they smoke a lot of weed and have no idea what they are doing over the phone in addition to being rude and not helpful.

These guys are amazing — if you’re having issues with your Mac or Apple product, take it to them! It was a blessing in disguise that the Apple Store couldn’t replace the hard drive on my 2009 MacBook Pro. If they had been able to, all the data would have been gone. It was suggested that I take my computer to Austin MacWorks. In less than a day, I had my laptop back with a new hard drive and ALL data back in place. The machine works as good as new. The final price was less than quoted.

My 2009 iMac hard drive died, they quickly and affordable replaced it with an SSD. So fast and quiet now, lots cheaper than a new iMac.

This place is absolutely terrible. Overprice, slow, and sub par workmanship.
Go to the apple store or anywhere else.

Whenever one of my Apple products has a problem or needs a repair I go to Austin MacWorks. They are conveniently located in downtown Austin and they do repairs covered under Apple Care. Sam is always so helpful and is kind of a computer magician. He fixed my phone after the tele help at Apple Care told me there was nothing that could be done. Magician!

I came to this shop in dire straits. Whilst tapping away mindlessly on my iPhone (that is what they are for, right?) the damn thing froze up. No amount of swiping or poking would wake it.
I work down the street from this place, so off I ran. Upon first inspection they told me the screen was dead and I needed to go to the Apple Store. My overly confessional self blurted out something lame about how I have no friends and no car, so was basically SOL. Then I may have used a four letter word or two.
The patient resident iPhone expert pried apart my phone and jiggered with it for a while. Lo and behold, back in business! Totally nice guys, no judgement seemed to be passed on me for being a total spaz. Had I not wanted to purchase something else, there was no mention of a charge.
I warn you, AMW team– you were so helpful I might have to bring my dinosaur iBook over to see you!

I was on travel and left my charger for my iPad. The guys at Austin Java recommended them. They were in walking distance and I popped right in.
Great service and awesome people. He even took the time to look at my iPhone.

Nothing but praise for the downtown shop. Took my old Tiger model in twice for repair. Work was done quickly, successfully, and for fair price. Always treated with courtesy by staff and manager. In one case manager even offered a replacement rather than repair at half the price. For a variety of personal reasons I took the expensive repair route.

A great alternative to the Apple Store. If you work or live in the downtown area and need service on your Apple product, don’t bother with the appointments, hassle, and location of the nearest Genius Bar. Instead, give these guys a try.
They are an official Apple retailer and service shop, so the showroom prices match Apple retail outlets. Additionally, your AppleCare warranty still applies. As an authorized service center, they have to follow pretty strict warranty-​validation procedures, but they will offer to ship your device to Apple for a second opinion. I should mention that their turnaround time for shipping and receiving with Apple care centers is crazy-​fast.
I like the staff well enough, too. No complaints.

LOVE these guys! They are super helpful and know their stuff. Plus, they’re extremely fair in terms of price.
My ONLY complaint is actually about the owner, I had a very awkward experience of him talking down to one of his employees and correcting him in front of me. I did not like that one bit, especially since his employees are the ones who are keeping my business! Be nice to your employees, people!
Other than that, they’re great!

Went into the store this morning to drop off my computer for them to take a look at. One staff was fairly pleasant and answered my questions. The other guy was rude, testy and condescending. I was told that they could possibly take a look at my computer by then end of the day, so I was surprised when I called in the evening and the man who answered was so quick to point out that I was mistaken. Rather than simply informing me that it had not been looked at, he gave a rude retort to my inquiry. I picked up my computer and brought it to Compuzone on W. 5^th where I was treated professionally.

My 2007 imac died on my after 5yrs — it would power on but there was no display activity on the screen — and with a heavy heart I brought it to AMW on 2^nd Street, hoping they might be able to find the problem. They took my computer, asked questions, and called me the next day with an update. Basically the motherboard inside was dead and although the part could be replaced, but it would be hard to find and very pricey ($ 700 approx) since the computer was an older model. The tech who called me was so candid and honest, I really felt like he was giving me all the right information to make my decision on what to do. He didn’t push me to make any quick decisions, just let me know what costs would be and also let me know about their recycle program if I decided to just junk the computer (they could take it off my hands for me). I thought about it for the day and went into the shop the next day to let them know I didn’t want to try and fix it. They were so nice, they didn’t charge me for any of the diagnostics and even walked me through the process of how to restore all my backups onto a new computer when/​if I ever wanted to get one.
Bottom line: though I walked in with a computer and walked out without one, these guys were amazing. They know their stuff and offered thoughtful and quick customer service.

I knew I needed to get my mac’s trackpad replaced, but everyone around town was saying 3 – 7 days (WHOA). This is far too long to be computer-​less. I called Austin MacWorks and they said 24 hours, which was great! They took a look at my computer, ordered the part, AND lent me a loaner mouse so I could continue working. The part came in and i dropped my computer off, they had it back to me SAME DAY!
These guys are great and i’d recommend them to anyone!

My 5-​year-​old Macbook Pro needed some love. The folks at the Genius Bar recommended Austin MacWorks, because they could back up my hard drive before sending the machine into Apple’s repair depot (which the Genius Bar is barred from doing by some sort of policy.)
AMW told me that it would be $ 90 to pull my HD and back it all up, then around $ 350 for Apple to do their magic. (Same price as quoted by the Genius Bar)
Turns out that Apple’s repair work was done free of charge due to *who really cares why?* The cool cats at AMW said, «Chip, this never happens!» They were as excited as I was, maybe more. Then, to top it off and make the experience perfectly amazing, they opted to not charge me for the HD backup service.
What a day!
These guys are smart, friendly, and perfectly located across from City Hall. They have lots of space to work, and lots of folks to do the work. Why suffer a trip to the mall when you can get first class service in the heart of downtown Austin? I’ll be back!
