Austin Manage

I lived in an Austin Manage apartment a few years ago and had a really mixed experience.
Pros: I really liked the apartment and the apartment finding service was actually really helpful. The realtors were really friendly. Maintenance was done pretty timely, even though there were always problems that needed fixing (animal infestations, broken air vents, broken appliances, water leakage).
Cons: When I leased my apartment, there was a pool that worked. Halfway through the lease, the management company jack-​hammered the pool and filled it in with gravel. No compensation. When electricity and water was turned off for the complex (which happened frequently, sometimes by the City, sometimes by the management), we got only a half hour or hour’s notice — not enough time to plan ahead for showering/​eating/​using the toilet. When I moved in to the apartment, the carpet was dirty and I noted that to the management. When I moved out, I thoroughly cleaned the apartment according to the guidelines sent out by the management company, including cleaning the carpet. When the management company kept a large part of my deposit for «cleaning» and «replacing lightbulbs» that I had definitely replaced, I brought this up, politely, with the management company. The receptionist told me it was normal for tenants not to get their deposits back and the owner yelled and threatened me over the phone. I’ve never had problems getting my deposit back from any other management company. The management company also let in a guy from Craigslist into my apartment because he was one of their former realtors. I came home at the time I was supposed to meet the Craigslist guy and sell my couch to find my couch gone. I had to search to find the cash he’d left in payment, because neither Realty Pros or the Craigslist guy had told me they were going to take the couch without me being there. Not cool, guys.
I personally would never live in a Realty Pros apartment again, though the rent is fair and the apartments aren’t too bad for college students. But… I’d keep in mind that I’ve lived in a lot of different apartment complexes and a few houses and none of the managers were ever as rude as Realty Pros. Good luck!
