OMG! The prices are crazy here! They’re more expensive than Silicon Valley!!! I was quoted one price, then another price was written down. My bad for not catching it when they gave me the ticket. When I went to pay, I questioned the charge but the gentleman said that’s what I wrote down. I couldn’t argue, but it wasn’t just $ 10 or $ 20. It was more than double! I had to have my shoes back so I paid. Definitely WON’T come back here. I don’t care how personable the person was. Plus when I initially went to pick up the shoe the workmanship was sloppy and shotty. The gentleman corrected it and the price went up again! He said it was tax. Uhhhh… not coming back here again. I’ll take my shoes back to Silicon Valley, when I have to go back, where the prices are WAAAAAYYY cheaper and the quality is top notch.

Friendly service. Lovely establishment. All repairs I’ve had done at this location have been very professional. They take pride in their work.

Tough call here on 2 or 3 stars. I took my wife’s boots and her Burberry purse here.
First, the boots. They were only in need of a good cleaning and polish/​shine. No heels, repair work etc. They were ready when promised and they looked nice, but I think the cost ($ 30) was high for what amounted to a shoe shine. I have seen similar results for $ 12 at the Nordstrom shine stand.
The purse… Oh the purse. Again, just a cleaning, no large stains and no repair work. It was just dirty from 4 years of use. He was upfront, said they send them off to some company but said that it should look much better when done. Well, $ 90 later it looks NO different. Not one bit. I’d suggest they stop offering this service if these are the results they get.
Front desk guy was very friendly and personable. He is the reason I bumped it to three stars. But overall very expensive and mediocre results. I doubt I’ll be back.

We’ve been using Austin Shoe Hospital at the Y for the past four years and have never had any complications or complaints! Emilio, the manager, is very nice and polite.
We typically have shoes reheeled, everything from my dress boots to my work boots to my heeled snow boots come to Austin Shoe Hospital. It typically takes anywhere from a week to two weeks to have shoes reheeled here.
I’ve found the prices to be pretty reasonable, though I’ve only dropped shoes off once personally.

I have been trying to get my riding boot repaired here for last 6 months. Had new zipper put in at a cost of $ 125. Zipper never worked properly as it had a faulty tooth. After wearing boot maybe six times the zipper tore. Took boot back but all they did was sew tear. Unable to zip boot as zipper still had faulty tooth. They wanted to charge $ 125 to put in another zipper. The guy who works here is nice but sure doesn’t stand behind his work.

I have had outstanding service at this location of the Austin Shoe Hospital. Emilio is friendly and helpful. They’ve fixed all kinds of shoes for me, but of note, he repaired the toes of an expensive pair of boots (Cole Haan) and some very nice heels. They both looked great after the repairs, and i am really hard on shoes. From now on, I am taking all my shoes in to have caps put on before I wear them, since I tend to wear out the toe area. Recently, I scraped the color off of my new Coach purse in three places when I dropped it. It was a gift, and I was just sick because of my carelessness. The repair was expensive ($ 90), but much cheaper than a new purse. Even better, it looks brand new, which I did not believe could have happened. Kudos, Austin Shoe Hospital!

If you need to take your shoes in for repair, the 290 location at the «Y» is the place to go. Emilio makes all the difference. He is very friendly and has a lot of experience with what he does.
I have taken a few pairs of shoes in for repair and have been happy with the results. My favorite pair of boots looks brand new — and this is the 4^th year I’ve been wearing them.

They did a terrible «repair» on the toes of my vintage one of a kind boots. The caps they put on we’re nowhere near the color of the rest of the boots, and they weren’t even close to even in length. After wearing them once, the cheap, crappy caps started to peel away from the rest of the boot. Shoddy, lazy, cheap, unprofessional work…
Best of all, THEY DONT GIVE REFUNDS! Even with the original receipt.
The ONLY good thing I can think to say is that the man working the front at this location is polite, professional and seems to be genuinely invested in his job. Way to go dude, you can do much better than this company.

I was about ready to cut pieces out of all my pairs of dance shoes since I developed arthritis and couldn’t squeeze into them any more. Emilio, our– go– to– Guy, pulled out a tool, stretched all of them, sent me home with the tool and all of my precious shoes.
The cost was less than one new pair of shoes. It was a miracle!

I took in my shoes in to have the sole glued back on and Emilio did just that! He gave me the best option for my wallet and he is genuinely the nicest guy. I kind of want some more of my shoes to fall apart so I can give him some business. A+ on customer service, attitude, and shoe glueing! Well done, Emilio. Austin needs more folks like you.

Austin Shoe Hospital at the Y– Oakhills area. I am so upset with them. Had an brand new pair of shoes and wanted heel cut down a little. It came back 3 times with heel cut slightly off and each correction got worse. One heel cut slanted so Emilio said it should be ok. I said that I will certainly break my ankle with heels this high and slanted. I am insulted. Plus a safety pin was piereced through the suade with a ticket. He said they do with with all the shoes to identify. When I examined to pin hole he used his dirty thumb to try to work hole out. Still waiting for the final sendback. Horrible work. No refund either.

I dropped off an expensive Michael Kors purse to have just the straps re-​dyed white/​cream as they had worn down to the leather, and wound up leaving it there for two weeks as I had a baby. When i had my husband pick it up and bring it home a few weeks later, it was clear that they hadn’t even touched it. So, I sent it back and waited another week. I just picked it up again and not only is the paint/​dye job tacky and sticky, it shows fingerprints and smudges, and the paint got on the MK fabric. The purse literally looks worse than when I dropped it off. I’m disappointed as I have used the Shoe Hospital before and never had this kind of shoddy service. Hopefully they will try to fix the situation.

I got a Groupon for 2 heel repairs and Emilio is so friendly and they did a great job! I am not sure what the full price would have been, but I was very happy with their work and will return for any zipper work or shoe repairs in the future.
True it can be a bit tricky to get in and out but his friendliness makes it worth it.

I was a bit skeptical after reading the reviews, but this location had the best reviews of all the Austin Shoe Hospital’s, and it’s closer to me in distance. I am hard on shoes, so I often need repairs. I went in and the owner was super helpful and friendly. I do feel that they are a little pricy, but when I received my shoes back, they had done a very nice job with the repairs & polishing them up. My shoes came back better than expected.

Buyer Beware! Took 2 pairs of shoes, one was a pair of sandals where the toe strap broke– the other of the pair was fine. The other pair was a pair of child’s boots that a decorative piece of leather at the top had come unsewn– most likely my child pulled a thread. When I took them in, it was suggested that I have the heels reinforced on the child’s boots because the back of the heel was worn. The estimate, which I was given a receipt was 44.95… I am thinking maybe borderline because neither pair of shoes cost that originally… but ok. I go pick them up and the final bill is 75.00!!! I was livid. When I asked why? He said «Well, it’s for 2 pairs», I left feeling ripped off. Had I been told it was going to cost 75.00, I would not have chosen to get the repairs done.

Great customer service. I showed up at 6:05p to pick up my shoes. They close at 6p. The manager was in his car ready to drive away. When he saw me pull up, he quickly got out, opened the door and gave me my shoes. Awesome.
They did a great job too. I gave them a pair of leather shoes that were scuffed up. They sent them to to be reconditioned and re-​dyed and they look great again. I will most definitely be returning.

This place is a well-​managed Staple in Austin’s history. They have not changed the careful, precise, hand-​crafted ways they fix shoes since I’ve been alive, and no one does it like these guys. They put care into every shoe they handle, and when you get a pair of shoes (especially boots) remade, you walk out of there feeling like you’re walking on a cloud! Not to mention they make ‘em look FANTASTIC! You feel like a million bucks too! Prices are well worth the work – your shoes will last forever after wards!

I have been extremely pleased with the service at this location. They fixed my favorite sandals that had ripped. They cleaned up and repaired the interior heal lining of a pair of my husbands shoes so they were wearable again. I had a nice pair of sandals (Born) that I loved, but one of them squeaked loudly (air pocket inside the shoe) when I walked. They fixed the squeak on site. Last weekend I got grease stains on a pair of light color leather sandals and they cleaned them on the spot and didn’t charge me. I’ve been very pleased with the service and quality of work. Prices have been reasonable. Most repairs are done off site.

I have been meaning to write this review for some time. I was very disappointed with the job they did dyeing some suede shoes. It was also extremely expensive and then they lost my shoes. It took forever for me to get my shoes and they were super evasive about the whole thing.
Then, went to them with a very small repair — to just fix the loop on a dog collar. They quoted me a CRAZY price, then apologized, saying that they do no work on the premises — they ship everything to one place to have their little factory (I picture a sweat shop), fix things, then send them back, so with all that sending things back and forth, they can’t do small little instant repairs that your mom and pop shops will do for a reasonable price. The price they quoted was the price of a whole dog collar, pretty much.
I prefer going to a place where you talk to the shoe guy/​gal, they look at the repair over half glasses, with stained fingers, solemnly shake their heads, and quote you a price. You make eye contact with the human who will be fixing your shoes. They hand you a ticket and you return and then they recognize you when you come in and smile. That’s my kind of place.
Shoe Hospital is the Walmart of shoe repair.

I am so glad I can depend on these guys to take care of my leather goods and keep some of my favorites shoes looking great even though I wear them all the time. I just found out about their belt resizing. This has been a awesome service for me. I’ve lost a lot of weight and none of my leather, costly, belts worked anymore, and my clothes have been falling off, so really need them now more than ever! They trim the leather, you can even tell they’ve done anything (they do it from the buckle end), and tada! It fits again. Really great when I can only find belts I like in larger sizes, doesn’t cost anything to make it fit! The people who work here are SO pleasant, really make shoe repair fun, if that’s even possible. Easy access location, just a little harder during high-​traffic, but convenient.
