Austin Simply Fit

I have been training at ASF for years (am in my mid-​50s), and it has literally and figuratively changed my life. My trainer, Krista, has helped me get and stay in shape both when I was healthy and recovering from several difficult injuries. I have total trust in her ability to know when and how to stretch my abilities to achieve sustainable progress. She approaches working out from a wholistic point of view – strength, function, and health. I’ve never worked out with someone as present and focused during training sessions – I plan to be a «lifer» at ASF!

I’ve been working out at Austin Simply Fit for about a year and a half. It’s a great location, and I can walk from home, which is so convenient. I really like the atmosphere. Everyone is friendly and I never feel intimidated or self conscious like I have a bigger gyms.
I am really really happy with my trainer Chris Tejeda. I’ve worked with trainers at other gyms, and once we got into a grove, I got bored. Chris keeps my workouts interesting and challenging. He always pays attention to my form, making sure that I don’t hurt myself and that I’m getting the most out of my workout. He’s the perfect combination of knowledgable, focused, upbeat, and motivational. He’s a genuinely good guy who’s great at his job. Thanks to him, I feel stronger and healthier after every workout.

I started training at Austin Simply Fit in March 2015 one year after having back surgery for a herniated disc. I used to be a Crossfitter and I wanted to get back into weightlifting without hurting myself. 1-​on-​1 coaching at ASF was the answer!
As a woman I am happy to report that everyone at the gym is non-​judgmental and really accepting. It’s like a little family. The gym is super clean and has great equipment.
Chris Tejada is my trainer and he is AWESOME!!! Super positive and fun to work with. Most importantly, he is very knowledgeable on the technical aspects of lifting heavy weight with proper form. With his guidance I have successfully gone back to deadlifting and back-​squatting without any injuries :)
In the short time I have been at ASF I have seen massive improvements in my core strength and stability and have made impressive gains in my lifts. To top it all off I’ve been shedding pounds. In the past 3 weeks I have lost 6 pounds of body fat.
This place is great!

I’ve been working with Krista at ASF in private and semi-​private sessions for the past 6 months. I am in my late thirties and have always been active in the outdoors, but have never done consistent strength-​training. As I move toward the big 4 – 0, I wanted to regain some strength that I’ve lost since my twenties and prevent further injuries. I can’t say enough for this investment. Krista has been a great coach who is both attentive and dynamic in her workouts. She often changes things up if she sees that I’m struggling in an area. She pushes me to work harder, yet remains positive and encouraging. The gym is a friendly, laid-​back, unassuming environment. All of the coaches are welcoming — not once have I walked in and felt intimidated. The results have been incredibly rewarding. I feel stronger and better about my body than I have in years. I have intermittent/​chronic back pain that has disappeared with the focus on core strengthening. I would highly recommend ASF to anyone — do this for yourself, its a worthwhile investment.

As a college student, I was looking to loose a couple of pounds and become fit my senior year before real life hit! However, I didn’t know how to start or what to do. I would go to the gym and feel extremely intimidated. I had enough of making excuses and realized I needed help. Somehow I found Franki (my lifesaver) at ASF and it has been one of the best decisions I have ever made!
Over the past months of semi private training sessions, I have felt more comfortable, knowledgeable, and confident with myself when it comes to fitness. Gyms no longer intimidate me and I have become fitter/​stronger. Not only does Franki make you feel welcome but the entire staff really does motivate you to train at your absolute best. Despite everyone constantly working up a sweat in the gym, it is one the cleanest and organized gyms I have been to.
I recommend ASF to anyone who is looking to quit making excuses and is seeking some help to start their fitness journey. Most importantly if you want to truly enjoy your workout and laugh off the pain/​soreness, get with Franki! She is FREAK’IN AWESOME. She has a great personality and outlook on fitness/​life in general! She genuinely engages with her clients and made my goals a priority. I never thought I would say this but… she actually made me excited to workout and get my butt kicked!

I’ve now been going to ASF for about 3 years — so they are obviously doing something right. My trainer for the last 2+ years has been Brendan Morr who I like. He knows my limits and I let him stretch me.
This gym suits me great and I have no desire to change at this time. I think any personal trainer is down to the rapport you have with them providing they have the skill and experience.
My blood pressure is right where it should be and my doctor thinks its great.
Im a little older than most and its gratifying to find I can keep up with the rest of them. Well sometimes!

I came to ASF as a person who had NEVER stepped foot on a gym. From a dance and Yoga background, I was looking to gain strength and lose a few pounds. It has now been 5 months since I started semi-​private sessions with my trainer Franki and I am never looking back! I’ve dropped two jean sizes and feel stronger than I’ve ever felt before.
ASF is nothing like your typical gym. The trainers are friendly and encouraging, allowing us to never feel judged or uncomfortable. The facility is also very clean and never too crowded!
I would recommend anyone who wants to get in shape to join ASF and ask for Franki. She knows exactly how to work you out in order to help you achieve your fitness goals and will adjust every exercise to accommodate injuries. Aside from that, Franki is super down to earth and someone who I genuinely look forward to seeing three times a week. If you want to jam out to major lazer, vent about all of your life problems, talk about all of the foods you ate but shouldn’t have, all while getting a bad A$$ workout, take my advice ;)

Just celebrated my 2 year anniversary! I have competed in 3 powerlifting meets, getting a first and third place medal in my categories. Pretty impressive when 2 years ago, I wasn’t doing this at all. I train with Franki, in a 3 person powerlifting group, 3 times a week. I love the group sessions! It’s a great way to train hard and work with people that keep me motivated. I highly recommend Franki as a coach, though all the coaches are approachable, supportive, and great teachers. Joining the ASF was a good way for me to focus on getting stronger. Go now go!

I moved here from Atlanta back in 2013. I’d had a couple of years of on-​and-​off experiences with gyms and trainers there, with middling success dealing with stamina, strength, and knee issues. I searched high and low for a gym here in Austin that wasn’t the usual big chain kind of place, and finally settled on ASF. Turns out it’s the best gym in town and the best decision I could have made.
The atmosphere is supportive and friendly, and my trainer, Franki, has been a rock for me. After a bit over a year training here, I’m the strongest I think I’ve been in my life, and my joint issues are leagues better. I would recommend this place and the people here to an annoying degree.

I had a couple years of lifting experience before I got started but man has Franki taken it to the next level. Going from someone who worked out alone to working out with a team of awesome people has made a HUGE difference in my lifts. I feel way more confident about training because I have an entire squad of personal trainers to help me with my form and make sure I’m doing things right.
And the environment is amazing. I’ve never been to a gym like this. Everyone is friendly and encouraging. From the moment you walk in the door to when you leave it’s a ton of hard work and lots of laughs in between sets.

I came in at my highest weight feeling crappy about myself and now I feel so much more confident as a whole person and strong. She is so encouraging and knowledgable. I used to dread working out, now I look forward to it and know I will get a fantastic work out when I come to my twice weekly private training sessions.

That is one of the mantras at Austin Simply Fit. And as a client of ASF, it fits perfectly for what I want out of a gym.
I showed up in mid-​February at my highest weight, ever. I felt lousy, uncomfortable. My dad had just passed away a month earlier and a one-​year relationship I had just ended. It was definitely time to make some changes in my life.
There is so much that I love about this gym, but the best part is the feeling of community that Mark sets in the gym. You walk in, and any number of people are saying hi. I do the small group classes, and I have gotten to know quite a few «regulars» in my classes. We push each other, cheer for each other when we set PRs, suffer together and achieve together.
As for the actual workout regimen, it fits me like hand-​in-​glove. The strength building classes are intense but incorporate a good amount of variety to keep you on your toes. The dynamic conditioning classes are challenging and fun and incorporate timed intervals with weight-​based exercise. Sometimes the weight is your own body weight, sometimes it’s resistance bands, and sometimes it’s sandbags or dumbbells. It’s always fun though.
When I walked in for the first time, I couldn’t do a sit-​up, could not hold a plank and definitely couldn’t do a pushup (full or modified). 3 months later, I can do plenty of ab work and can hold a plank over a minute. I just did my first real pushup in years and the inches are falling off of me.
I’m looking forward to a long and rewarding relationship with ASF!

I spent years trying to get rid of chronic lower back pain. I tried everything from physical therapy to avoiding the activities I enjoyed most like running. I thought Mark Rogers was nuts when we began our strength training program which included squats, dead lifts and bench press. Fast forward 6 months and my back pain is gone, I can lift 185 lbs, I’m running again without fear and my butt is looking pretty good! Mark Rogers and the entire team at Austin Simply Fit is knowledgeable and experienced. They know how to motivate you and push you past your fears and limits. The best part, it only takes 30 minutes out of your day! I would highly recommend Austin Simply Fit to anyone who wants to be strong — inside and out!

I joined Austin Simply Fit in October 2012 with the intention of losing a few pounds for my wedding the following March. Meryl Carey came up with a detailed plan to help me meet my goals, which I did, and I was so happy with the results that I continued to go to ASF even post-​wedding. Meryl does a great job motivating, teaching proper form, and keeping the program fresh — even after 9 months there I am constantly doing new exercises. It is a great atmosphere at the gym… not pretentious at all, people of all shapes and sizes, and they even let you pick the music! (Sorry anyone who works out at my time that does not like A$AP Rocky). For any fitness level, ASF is a great place to work out. I recommend Meryl highly, but all of the other trainers I see working there all look to be fully capable and professional.

When I started working with Meryl in January of 2013, my goal was just to lose a few pounds. At the gym, I would see super-​fit people doing what looked like impossible feats and I thought I was nothing like them. Then one day Meryl had me do one of those exercises, and I started thinking differently about myself. For the first time in my life, I thought «What if I don’t have to live my whole life as an overweight girl with a pretty face? What if I could actually be fit, like those people?» That afternoon, I devised a new goal: My 31^st birthday present to myself (12 weeks from then) would be to become the fittest and trimmest of my adult life. I had frustrations and setbacks, but Meryl always asked the right questions and offered the right information to get me back on track. I’m proud to say that 4 days before my birthday I surpassed my goal by 2 pounds! I’ve lost 4 inches on my waist and am buying smaller clothes.
But the most amazing thing of all is how I see myself now. I feel strong and capable. Meryl is not just a trainer, but an artist, a sculptor. My posture is improved, and the shapes on my body are altering in beautiful ways. When I look in the mirror, I see a super-​fit person emerging.

I started working out at Austin Simply Fit in January 2013. I started with Mark and he was awesome! He paired me with Meryl Carey and i’ve been training with her three times a week since then.
Meryl is phenomenal! Her attention to my form, breathing and ability makes the workout great each time. I have gotten stronger faster than ever before with these 30 minute workouts. It’s fast paced and that makes it easy to do 3 x per week. As far as scheduling, Meryl is great about keeping my schedule. If I need to re-​schedule, we find a new time that works and she emails me an updated Appointment Change reminder. Their system works great with my planning. Meryl’s super friendly personality is great to work with. She is able to push me while still being a positive friendly person each time.
A couple of times, I’ve trained with Brandon Morr as well as Meryl was out of town. Brandon is an awesome trainer as well! Brandon was in sync with what Meryl and I had been doing in my prior workouts. I didn’t feel like they skipped a beat during the substitution.
For the first time in my life, I’ve truly enjoyed training so many times per week. I highly recommend Austin Simply Fit to anyone interested in a serious speedy workout.

My boyfriend and I started training with Dave in January of 2013 and we love him! He is very invloved and is always making sure we are breathing right and have the proper form for each exercise. Since working with Dave I feel much more comfortable around weights, and how to use them. He definitely kicks our butt, and it is working! We ended up signing up for 20 more sessions with him, so we are still going once a week, and getting stronger! I can definitely see a difference in my legs, back, and arms. All of the staff there has always been super nice to us as well!

I have been working out with Mark at Austin Simply Fit for a month now and think he is an amazing trainer! He offers just the right amount of push and motivation without being in my face. I appreciate that! I am coming back from an injury and have seen drastic improvement since I started working out with Mark. He has gone above and beyond to make sure I get a great work out, while compensating for my lack of mobility in my right arm. The environment at Austin Simply Fit is great — non intimidating and nice staff. Anyone at any level of fitness will feel comfortable there. It is nice to have the one-​on-​one training attention!

So we started coming here about a month and a half ago (I’ve worked with Brendan and my wife with Molly) and this place is great. The sessions are cheaper than my wife would pay at Lifetime or 24 Hour Fitness and the interaction is much more personal.
I’ve already lost 10 pounds and look a lot better. In fact I feel better and I have to start buying pants I haven’t fit into in years. I definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a personal workout and results. And if you do, check out my man Brendan.

Austin Simply Fit is simply great! I’ve been working with Bonnie for about two months and I am already seeing serious results. Not only am I getting stronger, I also have more energy, have less problems with my knees on runs, and am looking better in those skinny jeans!
I’ve never been a super fit person, but I’ve always been pretty active. This summer, I started getting really into running (completing my first half-​marathon next month), but I was still intimidated of the weight room at the gym. My aerobic endurance kept improving, but I still lacked strength and I had reached a plateau with my weight loss goals… that’s when I called Austin Simply Fit for help!
I first spoke to Mark, who was extremely friendly and informative, and he set me up with my first appointment with Bonnie. Both Mark and Bonnie took the time to talk to me about my goals, my health, and my overall fitness background. The workouts Bonnie plans for me are truly focused on my needs. Bonnie pushes me to my limits every week, and she is always incorporating new exercises. My body aches the next day, but I’ve never been hurt from a workout there — Bonnie is always careful to check my form and makes sure my workouts only produce the «good» kind of pain. Over the holidays, I had David as a substitute trainer for a couple sessions, and he was wonderful to work with as well (and kicked my ass, just like Bonnie does).
Everyone at Austin Simply Fit is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. It’s great for any person at any fitness level — I can’t recommend it enough!
