They probably don’t deserve 4 whole stars, but they helped me out when I needed it, and I’m glad they exist. I spent the better part of Friday at their emergency psychiatric services clinic. I don’t have health insurance, and needed some help, quickly. They are a walk-in clinic, and the process is that you fill out your paperwork, then eventually see the nurse, then eventually see the counselor, and then eventually see a psychiatrist(if you’re lucky). I was there for 5 hours, most of which was spent in the lobby, waiting. I am glad I brought a book. Their options are that they can hand you a list of counselors and send you home, prescribe meds to you, or hospitalize you. You don’t go to them for therapy, it’s emergency services for a reason. Everyone there was patient and kind, despite how busy it was. There were occasional communication issues. The emergency psychiatric services clinic is open 24 – 7, though the psychiatrists are only there Monday-Friday, to my knowledge, and during business hours. My understanding is that it’s best to go in the morning, because if you do need to see a psychiatrist, they leave at 5pm, and considering I was there for 5 hours waiting for one, I’d guess that if you show up at 3pm, and need a shrink, you’re going to have to come back the next day. Oh, the emergency clinic is at 56 East Ave., near the Holly St. exit of I-35.
