So happy that the bachelorette party I was with left the crazy, college-scene of Sixth Street and found the more mature Bar96 on Rainey Street! Loved the big, beautiful house setting with the casual vibe and friendly crowd.

Love this place. If you like to watch football yet cannot stand sports bars, Bar96 is perfect. It’s more like a regular bar that happens to have zillion TVs. They always show my Raider games, the staff is very friendly and helpful. Lack of douchebags you’d normally see at a ‘sports bar’. Top notch.

Plenty of TVs, games, great service and, most importantly, best Bloody Mary in Austin. I just get disappointed everywhere else I order a Bloody Mary now. They really set the bar. Harharhar…

I came here on Sunday for some Sunday funday and had a great time. Pretty nice selection of beer on tap and just played some cornhole while watching the football game. There are some tables in the back to sit and watch the tv’s as well. The food truck in the back, bomb tacos, is pretty good.

This bar is on the edge of a great location, but that alone shouldn’t make it popular. It’s more of a sports bar having a handful of large TVs, but the beer selection isn’t great and parking isn’t easy to find. Service is okay. Ambiance is okay. Not a bad place, but doesn’t really stand out in my mind at all.

This is my favorite place on Rainey to meet people and socialize. Very friendly atmosphere and generally has the right mix of people. Unfortunately the bar is area is pretty small and there’s usually one too few bartenders working, so it can take awhile to get drinks when it’s busy. On the plus side, they have ring on a string and I love the Bomb Tacos in the back.

The bartender, I think his name is Eddy, was amazing! fantastic service! They also have this rad ring toss game that I’m super badass at! The food truck outside is amazing. There is nothing about this bar that I dislike. Go mets!

What a fun place to kick back and watch some sports. Love this bar on Rainey Street! Its super chill, super dog friendly, and has lots of tvs for your viewing pleasure. There is a decent amount of outdoor space as well as some tables inside. The bartenders were fast and friendly! They had Deep Eddy lemon and grapefruit(I mean duh. this is Austin) so I was a happy drinker. Bring your pup and watch the game!

If you are around Rainey Street and you are looking for a place to watch sports & drink on a patio, you really can’t beat Bar 96. The prices are reasonable, the sheer volume of TV’s is impressive, and the patio is huge. Enjoy a cold beer and some cornhole while taking in the NFL action for a great Sunday.

Monday Night Football has a new home! I will start off with my one and only complaint. They really have no specials at all on Monday nights other then $ 3 modelo’s. Other then that, I really enjoy this place. They have the game on every single TV with plenty of outdoor seating and the sound is always turned up. To top it off, they have a great Mexican Food truck that goes beyond the normal lineup of regular tacos. I highly suggest the 96 Taco! The bar staff has been very friendly and I will definitely come back for some more Monday Night Football.

Looking for a solid sports bar on Rainey? Look no further than Bar 96. This place has TVs everywhere and they even print out what games will be shown on what TVs and at what time. Very helpful. The main bar inside can get pretty congested but the bartenders are usually pretty good about cranking drinks out at a good pace. Don’t expect you’re fine craft cocktails here. Stick to the solid selection of local brews on tap and the basic drinks. Otherwise you’ll probably be disappointed. The back porch has a secondary bar for when they get really busy which might get you a canned beer a little quicker than inside. Also a side window on the left can get you service faster. Bar 96 has a few cornhole boards set up which is always fun and the crowd is typically really friendly. There’s also a food trailer out back putting out some pretty good mexican food. Bomb Tacos trailer, I believe. All in all, this a fun spot for a bit of day drinking on the weekend to catch a few football games. Just beware that once you start Rainey it’s very hard to stop Rainey. A few drinks in and next thing you know you’re at the other end of the street, it’s 8 hours later, and you’re calling an Über to take you to Whataburger. Don’t tempt me with a good time.

Bar tender messed up order. Turned into a ‘thing’. Treated poorly. Kinda hate this place.

I honestly love this place. Where else can I get wasted with my mom, get a good dirty martini And a good taco?(Also. She loves the music. She is currently grooving to Hotel California. Win/win?) Well. Probably lots of places. But she likes it here. And she pays. Right now I am eating a migas taco… Looking at the Frost Tower and cursing the fact that I live in Sugar Land now… I miss you Austin. I miss you so hard.

We went on a weeknight with a crowd, and the dog, and had the whole backyard to ourselves. We pitched beanbags for at least an hour and got a little rowdy, it was super fun. Most everyone was drinking beer, but I got a mixed drink and it was good, no skimping on the alcohol. There is a taco truck in the back, and one of our friends got a quesadilla and said it was great. We’ll definitely be back!

Cool bar, Used to be a house and they turned it into an awesome bar. Great vibe and good drinks. Loved being outside on the benches hanging out with my team. Good spot.

This place isn’t bad, but it’s probably the weakest of the Rainey street bars. It has a bunch of tvs for watching the games but it’s often tough to get seating. Also, if you’re not watching a game I don’t think this place is that much fun. It’s not as interactive as Lucille’s, Bungalow, Icenhauer, etc. The drinks are expensive too. $ 5 for a draft beer. It’s not a bad time but I recommend keep walking down Rainey for a better place!

Positives– Lots of outdoor seating, lots of TVs with lots of sports, games like bean bags and ring toss, awesome taco truck in back, good drink variety and full bar. These are the reasons I go back even though I don’t love everything about this place. If any other bar on Rainey had games and TV’s I’d never go back here.(Except maybe for the tacos!) Negatives– Super rude staff, like all of them all the time. I’ve been there probably 30 times over the course of a couple years and I’ve had maybe 2 interactions where they weren’t rude or entitled. Also, $ 5 for draft beers no matter if its the middle of the day or at night, which is a bit high.

Simple venue for a meet-n-greet or the networking event I attended. I forgot to ask the name, but the Hefe beer they serve was chilled at the correct temperature and brewed well. Nice spot with convienent parking across the street for about $ 7.

Bar 96! I have only visited this spot twice, but I’ve had a blast both times. The first was during SXSW and there was an awesome swedish band playing. We didn’t stick around for too long, but for as packed as it was, the bartenders were crazy efficient. The second time was during bar hopping on Cinco de Mayo. We couldn’t believe it, but they had the hockey game on several TVs! That almost never happens in this town. There weren’t any tables left near the TV outside so we asked two guys if we could sit with them. They ended up being super cool and very nice and it turned out the crowd in general was into the hockey game, which was beyond awesome. The service is beyond excellent, doesn’t matter how busy the place is. And the crowd has always been very laid-back when we’ve visited. Also, that taco truck has some yummy, if extremely fattening, tacos. I really like this place, I just wished they opened even earlier! :)

The check-in girl at our hotel, with all the best intentions I am sure, might have been a little off the mark when she guided us here. When asking her where she recommended we go for drinks, she noted that we looked probably a bit older than the 6th Street crowd(and you would be very right about that, since we’re not 19) but we should try Rainey Street. No. Just… no. While it’s true this might be where you graduate to after you’re too old for 6th, this was still a very early 20’s crowd. We are all in our late 20s, early 30s, and it mostly just made me glad I was no longer in my early 20s and made me want to run very far away. Who knows, it may have a better vibe during the day, but it was fairly douchetastic on a Friday night. The best thing about this place was the burrito food truck out back. Damn that thing was good. The drinks here, however, were almost undrinkable(in fact, one of my girlfriends abandoned hers). Maybe the beers are ok but the wells for the mixed drinks were about a half step up from rubbing alcohol. We hopped on a couple rickshaw-style rides and got ourselves over to 4th Street with the other grown-ups as fast as humanly possible.
