Very unique concept with different areas within the bar. When you go early, it is very enjoyable. I would say the price for the cocktails are on the high side and were not that great. Once it gets late at night on a weekend, good luck ordering drinks! It is quite popular and there will be a long line to get in.

This is handsdown my favorite bar on Rainey Street. I love the entire concept of taking shipping containers and strategically placing them on top of each other to create a one of a kind hangout. Effing genius. At nighttime it’s balls to the wall packed but if you can find a corner or container room with enough people, it’s almost like having your own private party! And the container’s are air conditioned. They have live music on the patio against Bungalow which kind of creates a bit of noise pollution/chaos between the two but it’s not unbearable. The bartenders are friendly, drinks are drinks, not cheap but not too pricey. It’s just a neat spot with good music and vibes. They had a taco truck, or there are trucks all down the street if you’re hungry.

We went around 6PM on a Friday. It was not very crowded yet so we had no issues ordering drinks and there were plenty of places to sit. This bar is a super cool concept. The whole thing is made out of shipping containers. You can walk through them and in some of them, sit in A/C and enjoy your drink. One of them even has a DJ booth and dance floor. This is a 2 story bar so we sat on an upper deck and overlooked everything. It was a great view and a fun time.

My group and I had SO much fun here. None of us have ever been in a bar/club like this where shipping containers were central to this spot. You can browse through them and there were mini couches and chairs for people who want to sit and mingle versus outside where the crowds are. The AC inside the containers surprised me even more! The drinks were priced so much less than what my friends and I are used to so we had no problem drinking a little more than we had in mind. There was a food truck inside as well. The line wasn’t too long when we got there but we waited at least 30 minutes to get in. We thought it was normal since it looked like one of the more popular spots on Rainey St but people around us were complaining a bit. Another negative that I took from here was the dance floor. It’s made of gravel and some dirt. My friends and I love to dance so we spent most of our time down there but one of us wore sandals so it was bothering her a bit since the rocks were getting inbetween her feet. Some other girls there were in heels and that was disaster with keeping balanced on rocks. So if you’re planning to hit up Rainey St — avoid heels! The music was great! I loved the late 90s and early 2000s music and that was pretty much ALLTHEYPLAYED. So yes, I was in love. A solid 3.5 stars.

This is artsy AF. Shipping containers stacked in interesting ways to make a bar and a few AC-ed dark lounge seats. So cool. I woulda danced but it wasn’t my kind of music. Tried their Cherry Old Fashioned. Yummy but it was only a couple of gulps.

Had a ton of fun here with my boyfriend when we were in Austin this past weekend. We wanted to go bar hopping on Rainey St, and we started here. There was so much space here and we were able to find seats right away. There is an open air space in the middle of the bar, and a cool ledge upstairs that we wanted to check out but didn’t. The set up here is really unique. The bartenders were very efficient and they were quick to serve even though the bar was crowded. Good music too!

We came early even on a Saturday. It was on the slower side. Had a great chance to see everything & have seating. The music was great with good bar service. We life to do some bar crawl. When we walked back to the at 11pm Container, there was a huge line & it looked packed! It’s really a great place to go & do some bar crawling!

This is one of those places where I feel like I have room to breathe. They have really delicious cocktails as well as a decent selection of brews. I typically show up on Sundays as I pay tribute to #sundayfunday in anticipation of the disgusting hangover that inevitably follows on Monday. It’s cool to show out of towners this place and walk around the different«boxes». I’ve never had a bad incident here and the bartenders are always extremely friendly.

The idea behind this place is really unique and cool. I can honestly say I’ve never been to a bar made out of shipping containers. It’s conveniently located right at beginning on Rainey Street and was a great place to start off a couple nights during our 6-night stay in Austin. And there is plenty of outdoor space, including a food trunk and an area for corn hole boards. They have a few cocktails that are decent. The Cherry Limeade could be quite dangerous because it’s so sweet and you can’t even taste the vodka! The Bee Sting is a decent gin drink, but I would still probably stick to beer for future visits. It’s a fun idea with good drinks and a large outdoor space!

Have you ever felt like partying in shipping containers? Then Austin’s Rainey Street has the spot for you at Container Bar. Pretty fun gimmick. On the ground floor, there’s an open area with a bar where they have several house-made cocktails along with the usual assortment of beer, wine, and liquor. There’s music blasting and a dance floor. Unfortunately, the dance floor is in gravel which doesn’t make a lot of sense. Why would you set up a dance floor so everyone can get their shoes dirty? There’s also a second level with a balcony where you can overlook the first floor. Throughout the bar, there are several private containers with private music which is pretty cool. I’d definitely go this route if you have a good group.

Drinks and bartenders at the Container Bar are average for Rainey St, but I love the style and clientele of this bar, so 4 stars! I’m absolutely in love with the feel of this bar, and hooray for recycling and converting old shipping containers into working space! It’s colorful and fun, everywhere you go is a little niche or fun area to discover. Lots of outdoor seating, and a stage for bands to play. Overall, a cool bar and worth the wait to get in on a Friday or Saturday night.

A group of 6 of us were walking by and decided to come here Saturday. We loved the cornhole that was going on in the courtyard. Drink prices are a bit cheaper here than large cities(I paid about $ 7 for a Bulleit on the rocks) but still a little pricier if you want a cocktail. Rainey Street prices are definitely s step above the prices when you hit more local-frequented places. We grabbed a round and took a lap around the place — quite a few guys«out on the town» and there were a few bachelorette parties(the matching shirts and tiara gave you away, girls) — those groups were walking around with targets. you’d see members of the opporsit sex approaching them constantly — so if your goal is to meet people, come here. Our group popped upstairs overlooking the place and enjoyed the fresh air on a chilly April evening. We event snagged some cubes inside one of the containers and sat for a bit, playing a game of «Guess the Password» for anyone that happened to try and pass through our little spot(the answers varied but were all pretty entertaining). We ended up parting from this place after our round of drinks to check out some other spots — as the live band was setting up to play. Definitely a hoppin’ spot, even early on a Saturday.

This place was SOMUCHFUN. Came here for a bachelorette party, decided for our first night out in Austin we wanted to have fun but not get 6th street sloshed(a new term I have coined after witnessing the drunken mayhem that is dirty 6th). The bar is built from shipping containers and is such a fun and funky venue. A good portion of it is outside, but with the nice Austin weather that just makes it even better. The music was poppin,’ the crowd I was with really enjoyed the mix of top 40 and 90’s classics(spice girls for the win!). And the cocktails were AMAZING. Apparently, $ 8 is a lot for a cocktail in Texas, but for my California self, getting a quality and delicious cocktail for $ 8 while listening to some great tunes for no cover is living the going out dream. The one I got(the name is escaping me) but it was rum-based and it had coconut cream in it — the stuff of DREAMS! There are some bachelor/bachelorette parties in there which I’m guessing could get annoying as a local, but they seemed of the older, slightly less drunken antics variety. Not the falling down, screaming drunk girl variety(see aforementioned 6th street sloshed reference). Would definitely recommend this place for anyone visiting Austin!

It’s always nice when the atmosphere of a venue is enhanced by cool architecture… Or lack thereof! This place is literally a bunch of shipping containers that got turned into lego-style into a cool contemporary bar scene with all sorts of interesting areas to roam. The drink menu was cool too… My friends thought I was drinking orchata but I was sippin on coconut cream and whiskeyyy. Keep Austin weird!

Awesome atmosphere, but that is it ! I ordered vodka tonic, not tonic… It was mostly tonic… Which in fact was also flat, I told the bar they ignored me, and I said can you do something? The lady looked at the guy, he said I’ll try it, he tried it… He said doesn’t taste flat to me? And walked off. Not can I get you Sprite or soda or ??? So whatever. Then ordered vodka redbull a little after, at least tried, stood at the bar for 7 minutes while the bartenders just stood around and talked, then when they finally paid attention and came to get drink orders, they helped the people that JUST walked up. Part of your job as bartender is to make people happy by making good drinks, being attentive and nice, and getting orders taken in ORDER ! Hope they have new people by the time I decide to go back.

Austin is in Texas. Texas is hot. It’s not complicated. So when you have a shipping container designed into a air conditioned room, that’s a huge plus. As the name suggests the bar is made out of a multitude of old shipping containers. Were they ever used? Is so, what did the ship? Automobiles? Electronics? Dead hookers? Who knows? It’s a really unique idea, and pretty cool. The place is large with lots of different levels. Bartenders were super chill, and my group had a blast.

I’m not sure how I feel about this place — I love the concept of the bar being made out of shipping containers, but the feel of the place was… I don’t know. I felt like it was worth it to stop by here once, but I don’t think this is a place I’ll find myself visiting often. The cherry limeade drink I had was decent — not super alcoholic tasting, but not exactly weak, either. You get a cherry with it, so that helps. We went on a very cold night and were a little surprised to see this was a mostly outdoor bar until we noticed that you could walk upstairs and hang out in a nice heated container. From inside the container, I couldn’t hear much outside noise, so that was cool. For a while, we held down our container fort until more people started to show up and then our container fort became a container social area, but it was time to go then, anyway. They accept Tabbed Out here, which is super awesome. Tabbed Out is usually running some kind of special, so it helps with the high drink prices. The bartender was friendly and efficient. Apparently there is a food truck and I tried to figure out which one it was, but I failed. I still don’t know. Container Bar is… okay, mainly because I don’t know how else to describe it. It’s not the worst thing in the world to be just okay.

A really cool Austin bar down on Rainy Street, there is limited parking in the area though, but it’s a great place to go out at night and walk up and down the street and check out the bars. It’s a great local area, with really interesting bars. This bar is really interesting, each room is a shipping container. There are about 6 in the bar space,. Each one has AC and some seating. There is outdoor seating as well.

Stumbled upon Container Bar while on a trip to Austin and absolutely loved the concept! It is so unique and really has a great vibe. We ordered a couple drinks and some sliders from the resident food truck. Both were fabulous and perfect to sit down and enjoy the scenery. I love the lawn games and just the fun overall atmosphere — highly recommend a visit if you’re on Rainey Street. :)
