This was a run of the mill campus type college bar with a mediocre band playing party songs.

I love this place since it is located on center of the 6^th street. They have good drink especially draft beer. One good thing i love about this place is the great live Music and it is loud. Even if you are in stress, you will be humming and jamming there after couple of drink with great music playing live on the stage.

Cool bar, however gets only 2 stars because when I was there last weekend, my boyfriend was at the bar in the back left corner trying to order and the bartender (don’t know her name but average height/​size blonde white girl) was being rude and completely ignoring him (made eye contact several times and never attended to him, and there was no one else asking for a drink so it’s not like there was other people ahead of him). She finally takes his order, and hands him the shots with no smile or even saying anything. So my boyfriend, usually a very good tipper because we understand the system, gave 0 tip because she didn’t deserve it. We’ve NEVER left no tip but she was so rude. Then the next day we check our statement to find that she charged him for a $ 4 tip! I’m not sure what that’s called, fraud or theft or what, but that is not legal to write in your own tip! We’ve tried calling but nobody picks up… She can keep the $ 4, but I just want the manager/​owner/​customers to know that this girl is not a good bartender AND steals from her customers.

Just don’t do it. If you’re looking for dancing, Bat Bar will only suffice if you’re hoping to be groped and have a seizure from all the lights.
6^th street is a shit show and Bat Bar takes in all the rejects you do NOT want to touch you.
Buy your drink, pound it, and leave. Better yet, turn around and walk away.

Came here on a Saturday night and they had a Dj. Club music. Head straight to the back to the shot bar. Pick out of about 12 shots. Fun experience. Loud but good place for dancing

Not sure if the bartender (long haired dude) was high or was trying to take advantage of us cause we were here on vacation, but he totally charged us 3 times on our bill of only two drinks! Not only that, my 77 drink was pretty much all seven up/​sprite. It took him 15 minutes to cash us out. And the bar had no more than 10 people in there!!! Pretty crappy. Had to call the bank and make sure everything was okay. Plus the bathroom was awful one stall was filled with water and the second stall door didn’t lock or anything and the roof was caved in. The band was awesome and the idea of a bat bar is awesome but what a lame experience.

I wish I could give minus 5 (–5)!!! The music was fantastic BUT the place is filthy! The bathroom especially! As a female who frequents clubs I understand things get a little dirty but mould on the toilet and a collapsed ceiling! Yeah no thanks!

Free drinks lured us in but I can’t say that anything else really stood out about this place. It is a bar on 6^th street. There are plenty of them. Is it better or worse than any other place. No, not really. The Bat Bar is just o.k. Nothing more, nothing less.

We went there for the first time and we had a great time! They had a band playing called Boss Street and they were amazing! We will so be going back when we get another night out without the kids!

Average. At least the place tries to be unique; cool ceiling, two levels, different bar in back. I think the problem is the crowd and the music — absolutely collegiate.. .but in a college town, that’s what you get. Go there, have a drink, check it out, move on.

Another large Sixth Street bar with live music, cheap drinks, and a somewhat younger crowd. When I stopped by, it was emptier than other places I visited, and you could feel this in the energy level of the band as well. Still, probably worth a quick stop as part of a larger bar crawl, especially when things are livelier.

Strictly collegiate scene —
which is a plus if you are collegiate — and your crowd is black cocktail dresses or hot pants.
First rate real estate.
Well appointed. Lots of nice places to sit. Great balcony.
Excellent dance floor lights — some of the best I have seen.
Maybe I was unlucky when I was there — but the music was horrible my night.
One of the worst hip-​hop deejays it has been my misfortune to listen to.
Not much dancing occurs here. Its a stand and talk to your friends place.
The bar is heavy on get-​you-​drunk-​fast multiliquor shots.
Of the two I had, one was awesome and one was foul — which covers the gamut of what people are looking for in shots when the main point is to slam them down.
In my book — which is not going to be the book of the fraternity/​sorority customers — the décor screams for classy techno or electronica … where this place could be the reincarnation of the better days of the Apple Bar.
But the place fills after 11:30 so they are doing something right for somebody.

I had come here previously a few months ago before «peak time». Not a fan of it now due to the silhouettes of women dancing seductively on the big screens. Unnecessary.

Definitely one of the most fun bars we went to on 4^th of July! The DJ was playing really hip dance music (as hip as you can get in Texas) there is a shot bar in the back and a regular bar to the side. A little grungy but a fun place to dance the night away on 6^th street. I thoroughly had a good time up in the club here!

This place is a night stop on the Austin bar crawl. Cool place inside then again most of the local bars are. They actually have a shot bar inside here as well oddly enough.
The staff is pretty cool here, hell their usually standing out front prompting you to come on in and visit… really, can I?! Haha! Not like you don’t get enough of that around 6^th street right???
In all it’s a good place to grab a drink and on to the next stop as they say…

Bat Bar is a cool place for what it is. I dont mind roughin it every once in a while and doing something a little different but I cant say that there is anything spectacular about this place. I’ve been a few times but this last time I was there for SXSW and had a pretty good time. The music was good and the atmosphere was mixed. Obviously, lots of college aged people here. There was all hiphop when we were there which we thoroughly enjoyed. The bartenders were… eh…not really nice though they didnt ignore us. I got a long island and i couldnt really taste the alcohol so I was a little disappointed.
I woiuld go back if I was in Austin but I wouldnt make a special trip.

Lots of solid service which is why I’m giving this bar 3 stars!
Lots of dudes dancing by themselves. Puke in the girls bathroom sink, solid way to start off SXSW.

Der Name der Bat Bar ist eine Hommage an die «Bats», also die Fledermäuse, die es in Austin reichlich gibt. Hierzu empfiehlt es sich, die Tagesschlafstelle dieser Getiere aufzusuchen. Die Bats leben unter einer Brücke, die sie zum Einbruch der Dunkelheit wie auf Kommando verlassen, um aufzusteigen und wie eine Wolke durch die Stadt zu ziehen.
Zurück zur Bat Bar: auch hier gibt es Livemusik und Bier, aber leider nicht Fireman #4 oder Shiner :-(

I was drawn into the Bat Bar by the band. The music blaring onto 6^th street wasn’t nearly enough for me.
We got a table up front, ordered a couple drinks and watched a great show. No cover and great live entertainment wherever you go on this street. I usually pick the bar by the band and we got lucky that night.
