Employees are mistreated, overworked and underpaid. High turnover rate due to abusive former store mgr and still current district mgr.(The last store mgr was forced to retire. Manipulative, abusive upper management still exists.) Employees are forced to sell magazine subscriptions and credit apps. Their jobs are threatened if they don’t meet ridiculous quotas. Makeup counters are the most competitive and sales people have to make a lot of sales to get little commission, which causes resentment and infighting among the petty beauty advisers. The women that run Lancome and Estee Lauder since 11⁄2013 cause unnecessary drama and create tension and a hostile, unwelcoming atmosphere not just for other beauty advisors but clients as well. One of them makes customers uncomfortable by discussing religion. She doesn’t know anything about cosmetics and her appearance shows it. They hoarde cosmetic samples at the counters, so you’re better off getting samples at Ulta or the mall. This store may look«nice» at first glance, but the organized merch and aisles don’t mask the negative atmosphere, which customers do pick up on and have commented about. The negative attitudes are merely a reflection of the corporate bullying and threats and favoritism(in some cases) that associates deal with daily. The merchandise is cheap quality and not worth the marked up pricing. Their lame coupons do little to help. Don’t waste your money and time here. There are better places to shop, especially for cosmetics.

I was here about a month ago just to buy some acne treatment stuff for a friend. Let me tell you. If you have someone ask if you need help getting something, jump at the opportunity cause getting any sort of help from this place is the worst I walk in wanting to buy this Clinique stuff which turned out to be right at the entrance but it was to late. As soon as I walk in the store, the lady woman number 1(we will call her Sarah) asks if I need assistance and I said no. When I finally find what I wanted, a woman with a very well groomed mustache comes in with a used bottle of lotion and says: «DOYOUHAVECREAM?» Sarah begins helping her by searching the store, calling other stores in Austin, calling the corporate office, calling the White House and so on. By now I’m looking for help else where but there is only three women in the whole store. So I don’t want to be rude I wait in like behind a woman returning something thinking I can ask another clerk for help. I proved to approves the counter and tell the clerk, «I just need this bottle of Clinique.» She apologizes for the wait and walks me around to get the bottle. As she is doing that, this couple stops her midway and says: «can I get this cream here?» she then proceeds to help her. Meanwhile Sarah is still helping mustache lady and when I finally get Sarah to help me, I’ve been here an hour. I hate to be rude but these people only respond to rudeness or they will just forget about you.

I haven’t been in a Bealls since the early 90’s. Nothing has changed… It’s just not for me

This Place is nice. Better then a lot of other beall’s that i have been too. I came here for an interview. I can say that from the interview to what actually happens is different. They say they are friendly and talkative and great with customers, however not one person asked me if i needed help, no hello, no finding everything ok, no smile. Wasnt until i kept circling that one of the assoiciates asked if i needed help. Then i went for my interview. It’s nice inside and looks somewhat organized.
