Great experience at Bird’s Tire Service. I pulled up on a Saturday afternoon, needing a tire patch. Roger was informative, educational and kept my automotive fears at ease. Less than an hour later, I was out the door for only $ 10.
Highly recommend!

Yay!!! This amazing tire shop saved the day! They stayed open just for us to come in and get a tire fix.

I started off my morning with a flat, only to find that my spare was also flat. I live in that neighborhood, and I limped my car over. I have found in the past that when I do go for a tire repair or replacement, I am usually treated like I am a stupid, walking, talking, wallet. This was not the case at Birds. I initially asked for a repair, and they did their best, but the tire was too far gone. They had a replacement fortunately and I probably would have purchased another tire as a spare had they had it. They were very quick, and very polite. Having read these other reviews before I went over there, I knew to have cash in my wallet and to tip. (Thanks Unilocalers!) I will certainly go back should the need arise and they have what I need.

I got 4 ALMOST new tires at an incredible price for my wife’s car. I couldn’t be happier with these guys. They were nice, helpful, and stupid FAST!
I usually get my tires at Discount Tire, but it was closed today (Sunday). So I went to Birds Tire. I was in and out in under 30 minutes with 4 new tires!
2 Things:
1) They only accept cash – no credit card or check.
2) Tip the guys who do the work! They do a GREAT job and deserve a little something extra.

The core principal of this business is great! I live in Houston and literally travel all the way to Austin to buy tires and do a few other personal endeavors. The tires are usually good with lots of tread sold for «cheep cheep» prices.
I will say this though. I gave this place 3 stars because of one certain employee who scammed me. I came to purchase one tire that had been losing air. Picked out a tire and they got to working. Maybe 10 minutes later he’s done and the tire is on my car. I ask the gentlemen that helped me if he could break a $ 100. He said no, so I proceeded to make change at a restaurant next door (always count your money when breaking a $ 100). I took out what I needed and even left him a tip. Folded it, handed it to him, and left.
He comes running back and says I shorted him. In my head I was like «stupid motherfucker is trying to be slick» but I looked at his face, and saw that he looked scared and a little malnourished. So I’m thinking to myself, make a scene or just be nice. Said fuck it. Paid the man, and left.
Long story short if you don’t want to leave a generous tip, make sure you watch your money like a hawk.

My spare tire was stolen a few months back. I was dreading buying a new rim and tire, but with a 2000 mile road trip coming up I couldn’t put it off anymore. Found Birds on Unilocal and called them to see if they had a rim and tire. They said I think so, just have to check if it fits.
Went there and and they had the right rim that matched my lug nuts, and a tire to throw on it. $ 45 out the door. I couldn’t have even bought a rim for that much, never mind a tire too.

They got ‘er done quickly and efficiently. It was late afternoon in July, about 101 degrees outside, and these guys had been working all day in a hot garage. Therefore both chit chat and rapport were understandably in very short supply. This was not a problem at all.
Birds managed to get the locking wheel bolt off with the wheel lock key (which had been previously broken by someone else). Another garage had ridiculously over-​torqued the bolts so the process of getting the locking bolt off (with no key) needed elbow grease and experience.
I was in and out in 15 minutes. The low amount of money they charged for the aggravation, sweat, and muscle the guy put in was a serious value.
Although I would recommend Birds, I give them four stars because the place is a little rough (in a good way really), the credit card machine didn’t work, and there are zero creature comforts. I’d rather give folks 4 star expectations so customers have the right expectations.

Low Prices, good service, Fast and Great Quality tires. Best Combination To purchase tires. I will definitely come back! Oh and Hours are wrong but hopefully they will fix this. It’s actually open Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 8PM and On weekends from 8:30 AM to 5 PM. Came back again, to get ALL 4 tires replaced for a price you cannon beat or find anywhere else.

If what you’re looking for in your tire replacement/​repair experience is luxury and ambiance, Bird’s will not scratch your itch. But it’s fast and super cheap ($ 7 patch).

Went there after a tire blew out on the highway. Saw the great reviews and am pretty happy so far with the job they did. They had a used tire and put it on for $ 32 total. They also offered a 30 days guarantee so that was nice. Definitely support their local business!

Ditto was other Unilocalers said. This place is the spot for no frills, honest and fast tire repair. Crazy fast and was tire was patched. $ 10 cash and 13 minutes. Good bunch of guys and they know tires… my go-​to spot next time I need tire work.

My friend was very happy with his like-​new tire replacement for a very-​used cost. I was very happy because it was quicker to get the service and job completed than the drive to get there. Very worth it! I am thrilled other users put «no frills». And no frills indeed (but neither is the car). I was able to stay in the car as they jacked it up, played with the dog in the back seat, and we were on our way, with a little money in our pockets for Sunday brunch! OOOOH yea, AND they were open on Sunday!
However, if you are like me, frills needed, alas, this place isn’t for you. All of my tires must match, be balanced, weighed and all that other mumbo jumbo tire stuff!

I had a flat tire with two nails in it. Came to birds cause it was the only place open late enough after I got off work. I got there half and hour before they closed and he fixed it in 5 mins. It was so cheap and my tire had been fine ever since.

Bird’s is indeed strange. All the workers there look like they came from a poor man’s version of Duck Dynasty. Overall atmosphere of the place is like a 1930’s documentary film about the Great Depression.
The good part: Fast service and their used tires are in fantastic condition. I’ve never seen used tires like this. I bought two used tires that were almost new for $ 45 a piece out the door.
The confusing: You don’t get a sales receipt and all the transactions are done from one of the guy’s pants pockets. No mention of a warranty on the tires either.
When I chose the tires I wanted I asked the installer if they accept credit cards. The guy said, «We aren’t accepting credit cards today.» Did he mean they would accept credit cards if I was there the next day??? I was in a rush to get the tires, so I had to drive about 3 miles to my bank to get cash, and then drive back to the shop to get the tires installed. Totally inconvenient. Bird’s, either you accept credit cards or you don’t accept credit cards — please let your customers know about your payment options.

Went to Bird’s again yesterday and had another great experience.
Just bought an old Toyota truck and the left front wheel was wobbling bad. Both fronts were really worn, so I thought I’d just replace them, but was having trouble finding 14″ ones since they don’t make them much anymore. Then I remembered Bird’s.
After driving all the way across Austin (from Oak Hill), they did have two 14″ tires, but only two and another woman had already called about them and was on her way. The man who helped me quoted $ 79 for the two, mounted and balanced, and one old one mounted on my spare’s rim. But he seemed hesitant. I can understand why. I felt bad myself for wanting to buy them knowing someone else was on their way to get them after having been told they were there.
So he said, «I have a couple 15» rims that will fit your truck and quite a few tires here that will fit the rims. It’ll make it easier for you to find tires from here on out. I’ll give the rims to you if you want. The two tires, mounted and balanced, will be the same price. You can keep one of the others that were on the truck for a spare.” Deal!
When they were done, they weren’t so busy as when I first got there, so I asked them if they’d swap out my old license tags for my new ones real quick and they did. Happily.
Even with all that, I was in and out in half an hour, despite three vehicles being worked on when I got there. Awesome! These guys HUSTLE, man! NTB? Took me half an hour just to find out they didn’t have tires to fit my truck! And that was AFTER I’d stopped in the day before and made an appointment because they couldn’t get to me for an hour and a half because they had three other cars ahead of me. Again, Bird’s had three ahead of me, and I was still out the door in less than half the time I wasted futzing around with just NTB «making appointments», KEEPING those appointments, and still leaving without good tires. Dumb me. Should have thought of Bird’s first. I surely will next time.
Yes, it’s a rough-​looking place, but it’s a tire shop for god’s sake. If you want a cush waiting room, his and hers bathrooms, and all the workers in matching uniforms, go to some other place. You’ll pay for it. Literally. In the real true literal meaning of the word.
Me? I’d MUCH rather sit on a fold-​out chair in their parking lot talking to one of their friends while I watch the oh-​SO-​helpful tire-​guys work their asses off to take care of my truck problems freakishly fast for eighty bucks cheaper than NTB. AND save SO MUCH time in the process.

Bird’s is the best. You can’t beat the prices and these guys hustle. Tell them what you need and you’ll be out of there 15 mins — tops. I got two very nice BFG tires mounted and balanced for $ 90.61?! You can’t beat that.
Tips for an optimal tire experience:
. Call ahead and make sure they have the tire size you need in stock.
. This is a no frills joint. It is dirty, the guys are a little rough around the edges, but you are getting quality tires at such an amazing price, you can’t complain. Just don’t touch anything.
. There is no waiting room because there is no waiting.
. Credit Cards are now accepted, but cash is preferred.

Went here last week to get an almost-​bald tire replaced on my car. The guy gave my tires a quick look, and rolled out with a tire that looked better than the tire I got brand new on my car just a couple months earlier. I was in and out of there in less than 10 minutes paying only $ 45.
This will be my go-​to for tires from now on. Oh and they do take cards now!

I cannot believe that I was able to find at least two almost brand new tires here and get them mounted and balanced for only $ 129 (roughly $ 64.50 a tire). These were big, beefy BFGoodrich P255 70R15 tires that I purchased. I wanted to replace all four BFG’s on my crew cab Nissan Frontier which had P265 wide tires. I was so glad I found Bird’s Tire Service while scooting around on
, and then going there literally on a wing and prayer (not even calling to see what they had in stock). I was happy to get even two of the tires, and what made it even better was that they said they get tires all the time so to check back with them for that size tire either that afternoon or the next day, and he’d make sure to reserve two more for me. I sold the Nissan Frontier shortly after I got those tires.
What makes my experience with Bird’s even better was that this month, I curbed the right rear tire of my Honda Ridgeline badly enough to damage it beyond repair, and even though Bird’s did not have that tire in stock that day, they went right across to Ajack’s and confirmed that they had two tires of the size I needed. I decided to get two of them since eventually they both needed replacing due to worn tire tread. I only ended up paying about $ 140 for two tires there at Ajack’s. Needless to say when I need like-​new tires, I will deal with either Bird’s or Ajack’s and never pay full price for any tire ever again.

No frills, no hassle, no bs. You tell them the size you need, and he’ll tell you if he has the tires or not. They’re used tires, obviously, but still really good quality! I got all Michelin tires for a steal for my SUV at a way more affordable price than what «Discount» Tire was offering.
I called him up to see if they had the size I needed, and he said they had it in stock, and he said he’d even give me a little discount off the already super cheap price if I bought 4 tires, which I was planning to do anyways. I got there and they told me where to park. They had me in and out in no more than 20 minutes, and he takes cards, which was impressive since it just looks like a hole-​in-​the-​wall type of place that might take cash only.
Don’t let the look of this place scare you away, the owner is really legit, and if you just go there with an open mind, you’re sure to get great service.

Tires for my Jeep are expensive. To get a new tire is around $ 70 — $ 80.
Used tires for my Jeep from Birds Tire Service are affordable and in excellent shape, the guys are super nice and friendly and helpful and they cost me around $ 30!
I will NEVER buy a new tire again! The guys here are over the top nice and I couldn’t have asked for better customer service or a more quality product!
