Blo Blow Dry Bar

ughhhh this place is amazing but i am also now mad that i came cause i legit want to go every week and i just cant afford that!!! lol
My apt was at 6 and the street parking right in front pay period ends at 6 so that was clutch
i was greeted promptly with a glass of white wine (you can choose from white, red, champagne or water)
I went with my friend and the stylist were sweet enough to rearrange so we could sit next to each other and talk
i took my stylist advice and slept with my hair in a high twisted bun and it still looks perfectly flawless (got it done Saturday night and its Monday night)
for 40 $ and a 10 $ tip its definitely worth the money to pamper yourself.

Two years later I am still going to Blo Dry Bar on 5^th Street. J.C. has moved on, but Emily is my new favorite stylist. Very easy to work with and she is friendly and talented.

Want to look like a movie star? Guaranteed fabulous movie star hair, every time. And it can last for days!

I LOVE Blo!!! I have been a customer for a while and I love getting it blown out here. I went in today and had Vegas do her magic. She totally rocks it. As usual at Blo I left feeling beautiful and with smooth, shiny, bouncy hair. I have lots of curly, wavy hard to manage hair and the stylists at Blo always time it and bring out the best.
I am a Blo die-​hard. The blow outs last for several days and I swear it takes 45 min off my morning getting ready time.
I highly recommend Blo on 5^th!

Vegas did a blow out of my long thick hair in 35 minutes (which is a record) and it was amazing! Loved the products and atmosphere! Awesome!

Hardly used any product. Didn’t really know her way with a curling iron. I asked for volume with curls so I could have a style that would last the next few days (making it worth the money) and my hair was flat as soon as I walked out the door and looks dirty now (day after). Overall the style was short of what I would give myself with a basic blow dry at home. Really lack luster job. Which seemed to be what I was seeing with the other customers too. Last blow out I had (not from here) I looked like a movie star for days! It had been such a great experience that I wanted to try it here. Sadly this place didn’t even reach the bar. And what’s up with the plastic chairs? Cheapo!
For all the raving reviews, makes me wonder if all these ladies REALLY know the difference. Oh well. I’ll keep looking.

I’ve been to blow bars before but in other cities before weddings.
I was attending a wedding in Austin last night and the wedding started at 2 in the afternoon and was going to be an outdoor reception.
Enter Blow Dry Bar.
I have short hair so am used to not being able to do much with my hair for events. I told the lady I wanted to try something different, and we did relaxed curls with a braid! so cute! I didn’t think my hair was long enough for a braid. I got so many compliments on my hair from family and friends that see me on a regular basis at the event! Will definitely go again for upcoming holiday parties.
For the price, the quality is outstanding. I would have paid even more for my blow-​out.
The building is awesome, makes you feel all ritzy while you’re getting your hair done. They offer you champagne too when you walk in (my appoint was at 9 am, otherwise I would have grabbed the bubbly). Convenient scheduling online. Calling is sometimes hard to get someone on the phone so I would just make an appointment online.
Also, my hair lasted ALL NIGHT. I was not expecting this as I was getting my hair done at 9 am.
It was still even curly this morning when I woke up until I showered it out
If I wanted to do an up do I’d probably go to my stylist, but for a blow out, this is the best bang for your buck!

A friend had recommend that I go to Blo before hitting the town for my 30^th birthday. Everyone was extremely welcoming coming upon arrival. They promptly asked if I wanted anything to drink. Who wouldn’t want champagne while getting their hair done?
The stylist was friendly and prompt. I really enjoyed the scalp massage and the wonderful Smelling hair products. She was very sweet and asked me minimal questions so I could relax during the massage.
I told her I wanted something fun and curly. Something different than I normally do. She was excellent and made my hair look fabulous. My hair has a hard time holding a curl so I was a little worried.
However my hair looked fabulous all night long! It even held its curl and stayed looking great the next day! I will be returning to Blo for sure. Love everything about this establishment.

They did a fabulous job on my hair and were very accommodating with my changes in schedules as I had to reschedule twice. Added bonus: the building is so cute and fun!
The only downfall was as soon as I walked in I was seated and the stylist got to work. She did ask what the occasion was and I excitedly told her I was getting my hair done for my engagement pictures. A lady walked in shortly after me and was greeted and given a book of styles she could pick from, which I did not know even existed, they then offered her a glass of champagne, which I too was not offered. That is not to say my hair didn’t turn our fabulous or that anyone was mean, I was just upset that I was not given the same experience as the next client.

I go to BLO probably a LOT more than I should just to get my hair washed and styled, but it’s totally worth it to me.
If you go on Mondays and Tuesdays, the blowout is only $ 30 before tip, and if you tell your stylist not to use much product, it can last a really long time! I get compliments on my hair every time I go.
I’ve never had a bad experience. I’ve seen so many different stylists and the outcome is always great. I’d have to say my favorite stylist is Marina– she is SO knowledgeable about hair and she’ll talk to you the whole time about any hair concerns, products, etc. It’s like a little hair lesson while you’re getting pampered.
Parking is also free and easy in the garage right behind the salon.
I’m a regular and I love it!

Had an amazing experience at Blo! I got an undo for a wedding I was going to and I absolutely love how it turned out. And it held up until almost 2am. Will definitely be back when I’m in Austin!

I just have to say I have been to a few different blow dry only salons and Heather by far is the BEST!!! She takes her time and knows what she is doing. Plus, she has such great energy, she is just a pleasure to be around!

This will be my first negative Unilocal review and as a disclaimer I’d like to note that I typically assume that people are over reacting when they give negative reviews. I worked in customer service for almost a decade as a server and I know that some people just cannot be pleased. However, the experience I had was unpleasant enough that I feel justified saying something.
I went in with a bridal party last weekend. I should also preface this by saying that I don’t make a ton of money and I don’t spend a lot on myself so this was a TOTAL treat to myself, I wanted to be included with the girls and to feel a little pampered for the festivities. We were greeted and offered a drink and the place is adorable so we were off to a good start. I was taken back, had my hair wet (not washed because I came in with it clean), I was given a suggestion for a style based on my dress and the occasion. Then I was given a seat at the bar and my stylist came by. He was clearly pissed from the get-​go. I only know his name is Ben from overhearing it because he never introduced himself. He didn’t really speak to me the entire time and I felt like I had done something wrong and wished I hadn’t even come in. I honestly felt like I was in his way and he was annoyed that he was doing my hair. The manager, I assume, came over after some time and they both worked on my hair, although it was extremely awkward because it was obvious they were angry at each other. The other bridesmaids were on either side of me and across from me and I could hear them chatting with their stylist and having a good time, not so much for me.
When we were finished the other girls asked me what was wrong with my guy. Even the girl across from me, who could only see between 2 mirrors, was wondering what the deal was. Not to mention, after I stood up to go pay the girls beside me said he threw my chair in after I had walked away.
That being said, I loved my hair, until it fell 2 hours later before we took a single wedding picture.
I spent $ 40 to feel uncomfortable for nearly an hour. I don’t typically frequent places like Blo, this was a special treat to myself, on a special day for my friend. I won’t be returning.

Sometimes you just need a little pick me up and this is the perfect fix. It’s such a cute little salon and the stylist are all friendly. The appointments are for 45 minutes, but it’s never taken them more than 30 minutes to style my hair.
Whatever they do, my hair always looks amazing… even better than when my hairdresser blows it out. At $ 40 for the basic blow, it’s a little pricey, but as a special treat, it’s completely worth it.
Wish there were more locations in Austin.

I came in to blo for the very first time on the day of my UT graduation photo shoot. I was a little skeptical and nervous about trying somewhere new on a day where pictures were going to be taken, but I thought «why not?» And just gave it a shot.
I am extremely glad I did! At one point, I had two stylists working on my hair (my hair is thick, long, and a lot to deal with) and got me out of there quick and very satisfied with my style.
I definitely recommend blo and say go for the «holly would»!

I have been to Blo bar over the last two weeks 3 to 4 times. I have been in the salon industry for the last 20 years and My first visit I encountered Justin over the phone to help confirm my appt. Due to a computer glitch he was extremely helpful and
called me back immediately to assure I was booked.
My first appointment was with Heather and I absolutely loved her immediately and because of her I have been back so frequently and will continue to do so. I believe in being loyal to a stylist and will always request her. However after meeting several others staff members (such as Emily, Ben, or Josh) over the past two weeks I would be happy to sit in their chair if Heather was not available. Blo has a wonderful staff and I know that I would be very satisfied with anyone. Love love the experience!!!

It may come as a surprise, dear readers, that I am not inherently girly or fussy. It takes incredible patience for me to sit through a manicure or hair appointment. I once got eyelash extensions, that was the worst. Who has time for that?
So, as you can imagine, before my blo stylist was done blowing out my bangs, I was already anxious for the whole procedure to be done. Why would I subject myself to this torture then, you wonder. Well, I have been to blo once before in a similar situation. You see, the only time it makes sense to me to go through this rigmarole is if it saves time and effort elsewhere and I can have great looking hair while I’m at it.
Naturally, before hoping on a plane for a work trip, a blowout makes sense: I want to look professional, with hair that won’t quit, and not have to bring my own salon with me. And believe me, the last time I went to blo, it was to California for three days and all I did in the mornings was spritz a little dry shampoo, shake my hair, and I was done. I even got picked up on the plane and the guy took me out to fancy dinner the next night. Not over just hair, but the confidence that a woman with great hair exudes. And, before that, a guy bought me a drink in the airport bar. Man, that blowout totally paid for itself three fold!
One thing, and hence the four vs five stars: I can’t remember what style I got the first time. Maybe «big and bouncy» or whatever they call it, but today, I asked for «Executive Suite» (or «Sweet»?) and it really wasn’t what I had in mind. In my mind, that’s the blowout you get when you’re going on what’s basically a three-​day interview to prove you deserve the job you just got. In blo universe, this style just means «stick straight» according to today’s stylist. Methinks it should be called that. I just wanted serious, bad ass hair. And the description in the hair menu says something to the effect of, ‘the hair for a client meeting, a board presentation, or asking for that raise’, three things that sound exactly like what I’m doing and only once in the description do they mention they’ve got the best flat irons on the job. I can’t be the only person to have misinterpreted this very evocative menu option. I likely asked for Executive Suite last time and the stylist was probably like, «no, that’s not actually what you want» and she gave me exactly what actually wanted instead. So, live and learn. I came home, touselled it up a bit, flipped the part, and added a couple more hair accoutrements to my suitcase and crossed my fingers that I can still get away with just a little dry shampoo and a shake for the next three days.
PS– they are doing a special on Mondays and Tuesdays, from 10 – 3, blowouts are only $ 30. So I might pop in again soon and choose a different menu option to figure out which is the one for me.

I was able to score a Saturday appointment the same day by checking in the morning which was lucky. Blo Bar is a popular place on the weekends. When I came back in at my appointment time, I was greeted by my friendly stylist Josh and walked back to get a good scrub in the sink followed by a precise blow out.
The products used smelled wonderful and were all vegan. I have short hair, but a lot of it, and Josh took time sectioning out my hair to make sure I had the right amount of body at the roots and straightness throughout. It came out lovely! I’m hoping the style lasts through the middle of next week and I have a feeling it will. This was my first Blow Dry Bar experience and it won’t be my last.

I just left Blo and Marina yet again made me look fabulous! I always feel so pretty and it LASTS for days. It’s so obvious Marina loves her job and making her clients look their very best. I leave refreshed and ready for the day.
There was a glitch in the on-​line booking service, but my daughter and I were accommodated and made to feel just as special as other clients. Something is up with the computer system, but I’m always pleased with the results once I’m there.
