I’ve been going to this place for YEARS, since they were in their other location. Great food, nice crowd, and perfect for vegetarians. Even my meat eating friends love this place! I highly recommend the grilled cheese with basil.

There’s a reason everyone told us to go here when we got into town. Really cute place with lots of outdoor and indoor seating, cute quirky art, easy parking, and delicious food. Any place that serves breakfast all day is my kind of place!

Very good vegan food options. I also eat meat. So, I am picky about vegan food. Very good and hearty food. Good ambiance. We enjoyed sitting outside. Pleasant, attentive wait staff. Ate here twice on a visit.

This is Austin in a restaurant with its eclectic décor and casual atmosphere. This vegetarian haven serves all the favorite breakfast foods sans meat all day. The veggie royale, their award-winning veggie burger with the chipotle pecan pesto, is highly recommended for all you first timers. Meat lovers won’t even bat an eyelash with the first bite. Joe’s smokin’ omelette with a potato cake is a great runner up too.

Oh man this place is the bees knees — the food is so tasty! Came for breakfast/lunch(brunch?) with the daughter and parentals. Waited for a table for about 15 minutes and then had some killer food. So many choices(vegetarian) with everything tasting awesome — we kept tasting off each others plates. The sauce on the Smokey Joe was unreal — actually put it on top of my renedict which was amazing. Great for vegetarians and meat eaters alike cause the flavors are so awesome. Parking is tight and there’s a wait but isn’t that the case at all good places?

I’m a huge fan of meat, so I was hesitant when we got here. In addition to the fact that it’s a vegetarian restaurant, we had to wait 30 minutes for a table. Not the best first impression, but the meal was worth it. It was around 2pm, which probably means that there is always a crazy line for this place, but the food! I got one of the omelettes and I don’t know if I’ve ever enjoyed vegetarian food that much. I easily cleared my plate and was quite full afterwards. They also don’t take you until your whole party has arrived, so don’t plan on reserving anything until you’re fully ready.

I am a carnivore; a red meat-eatin, gun-totin, boot-scootin, yee-hawin Texan woman. I really, really(really!) enjoyed the Potato Leek Omelet with the sides of tomato and black refried beans. And this meal was eaten within an hour of having breakfast elsewhere, so I was surprised at myself that I ate that plate like I just finished fasting for Yom Kippur. I never thought I’d ever write a nice review about a brunch meal that was missing a slab of meat. Verdict: I just can’t resist the delicious hipster charm of their food and service. Listen. Best tofu scramble on the planet. If you come here and you don’t order a tofu scramble dish… you might as well not come at all. Well still come. But I’d question you as a person. Get the eggs Benedict dish but with tofu. Sit outside and get any of their champagne drinks and relax. Everything else has already been said. Very good food. Very Austin-y. Open late.

This is seemingly a pretty popular place and is special because it is all vegetarian food. As a lifelong vegetarian, I am pretty unsatisfied with this place. I ordered the Enchiladas Del Flor, which had this blend of spinach, herbs, and hibiscus flowers, all topped with a chipotle sauce. In theory, this sounded unique and promising to me; in practice, the enchiladas were bland and the texture was actually very unpleasant… the enchilada filling was quite gritty. I tried a couple of other things from my friends: the leek and gruyère omlette was alright, but the vegetables were not well-cooked and there was hardly any gruyère detectable. The zucchini bruschetta was actually pretty good, but it was served with a horrendously bland quinoa. All in all, the food were was not bad, but not amazing in any regard.

Very popular. Also very good. We showed up early, at 11:00AM for Sunday brunch for 5 people. We were told the wait would be 25 minutes max. Actually ended up waiting for 45 minutes. We waited outside, enjoyed the beautiful springtime weather, and looked at the menu. It was worth the long wait. Thank you Austin for being so vegetarian friendly. This place is vegetarian/vegan only. And you can make everything on the menu vegan. It was hard to choose from so many great options. I went with the Kool summer sandwich, mostly because it had the most veggies. My motto: the more vegetables, the better. My sandwich was thick with veggies including sprouts, avocado, lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. It comes on a soft and delicious Ciabatta bread. The Chipotle pesto is pretty good too. It’s a little sweet and just the right amount of spicy. The sandwich was very filling, probably because Ciabatta bread is so oily. I ended up taking some of the chips and salsa I got as my side dish home. Note: their salsa is really really spicy. Bouldin Creek’s parking lot is tiny, but street parking is basically unlimited. Just park in the neighborhood nearby like everyone else does. Love the ambiance. So Austin. The waiters have an unofficial hipster dress code. At least one tattoo needed to join.

Came here with a date one night. It was really busy it was close to closing time around 11ish and there was a wait cuz the place was filled up. We waited about 10 mins and then we were seated. This place has a few meat options but even those are aimed for vegans and is breakfast related. Despite the vegan premise the food here was really tasty I had one of the omelettes here. My date had something similar and sort of liked it, but she wasn’t a vegan so she didn’t love it really. My waiter was amazing. I wish I could have remembered his name he had a long beard that’s all I could remember about him. I really want to come back here sometime. Props to the artwork and the design of the place. Cool patio too.

I’ve been kicking myself that I didn’t try this place for so many years in Austin, especially being a vegetarian. So many options on the menu! Such reasonable prices, a hipster vibe and perfect human portion sizes(not obesity inducing Texas sized) color me impressed. I couldn’t ask for more. Tried it on a crisp spring day in Austin. There was an expected wait of around an hour on weekend for brunch. Staff was friendly and non pretentious. I was impressed to see a pet friendly and bike friendly atmosphere and they still had a private lot. Lot of young people, pets & beautiful jasmine flowers set the patio ambiance. Plenty of beverage choices; I tried their orange juice, I was surprised to see an actual small glass when I ordered small size. Thank you for having a real 8oz small size and not serving 16oz with 8oz ice to just to jack up price. Some of my friends enjoyed their cappuccino and smoothies as well — next time for me. I ordered their veggie royale, also tried veggie tamale and grilled cheese sandwich. All of them were very tasty. The best part was their chipotle pesto sauce — TODIEFOR! I could drink that by gallons and put it on everything I eat. My followers know I am a sauce guy, and this is equivalent to the Award Winning DONA sauce from Tacodeli. All my friends loved what they ordered and were actually hungry for more. This is one of those places that anything they cook is really well made and tasty. Some chefs just have that in their hands. I’m going to be a regular here, hope to see you there !

A fantastic place for a good healthy brekky! We are visiting from Sydney, Australia and this was a nice little gem. Relaxed atmosphere, great service by Blake and great food. We got the ‘predictable breakfast’(with Rye) and the ‘granola’ and they were both yummy, we even took the granola home to have for later!

Deliciously strange, and also pretty delicious — I really enjoyed my everything egg bagel, the delightful staff, the warm patio and the dog friendly vibe. It is a gloriously Austin spot — much tie dye, body hair and face piercing — definitely not somewhere to bring your terribly smart Aunt Matilda who thinks eating with your hands is akin to child beating. An excellent spot for my vegan mama though — and even my carnivorous(and noted cheeseburger enthusiast) father was happy with his facon(tofu I think?) and egg scramble. Also despite their down to earth vibe they didn’t bat an eyelid at my ‘decaf almond milk late’ request(I am self aware enough to recognise that this is the least coffee coffee possible) — I like them. I’ll be back for sure next time my ma’s in town.

Simply great food. Genuine Austin vibe, and someone drawing Invader Zim on the specials board. How much better can it get? None more better. I had a spinach and onion omelet, with chipotle sauce. Organic beans, while wheat toast. I’d better finish this review because I’m going back for dinner. Bye.

This place RULES! You don’t even realize it’s a vegetarian spot until you’ve already ordered because they have so many awesome options. It has such a great funky vibe, and if you have the chance you should definitely try to sit outside because they allow dogs so you can hang with some pups while you eat. If you can try anything new while you’re there, get the chipotle pecan pesto. It’s amazing. Put it on anything. I like getting the garden bagel and putting both the chipotle pecan pesto AND cream cheese on it, with all the veggies. All of the vegetables there are always SO fresh — amazingly red tomatoes, perfect sprouts, seriously they know how to pick ingredients. They’ve got some really fun drinks too so try to grab a unique one! Two I’ve really liked: coconut limeade and lavender lemonade. Great teas too. All the waiters I’ve ever had there have been really sweet and also just really cool people. They almost always have interesting tattoos and piercings. Really great spot, it screams Austin. Definitely one of my must-picks when I bring people to Austin.

This place is only good for peeps who are legit vegetarians or for those who love vegetarian food. I had the potato leek omelette and it was average for me. It lacked flavor, but I appreciate the healthy aspect of it, I guess. What I did enjoy was the Lavender Mocha. It was rich in flavor and unique! Expect for the service to be slow. It took us over 30 minute to get our food after our server put in the order.

Be warned, it’s menu is struck vegan… no meat just meat like names I’m a meat lover who likes to explore unique vegan creations! This didn’t meet my bar for making me forget there is no meat. On the bright side it would be an amazing coffee/drinks joint! Food-related 3.5÷5(IF you are vegan) For breakfast with eggs it was decent… a couple tasty omelette The service 2/5, we got the mute server The service wasn’t very customer oriented… the guy who sat us was more interactive walking us to our table then our server was all meal. Our server literally walked up and said«are you ready to order» I asked for recommendations and he literally said two items names and that was it. Then he asked our order again because he forgot the first things we orders including coffee, water, 2 meals. The only other interactions were him asking«is everything OK» then I ordered a sandwich to go and he answered with 1 word answers Maybe he was having a bad day. Overall, this would probably be a favorite of vegans. The lack if meat was not offset with cool vegan dishes for me. On the bright side they have a very impressive drink menu, with teas(including topshelf), coffees, even wines and champagne cocktails.

It’s hard to really be impressed by an omelette, but the house omelette had me going«mmm mmm good!» I think it might be the garlic/garlic sautéed spinach? Whatever it was it had me leaving happy. The blueberry cornbread sounds delicious but was dry and not delightful. There’s also quite a long wait on the weekends but they give you a pager that works within a block radius so you can grab juice at the soup peddlers across the street to hold you over. After getting paged, it still took a long time to get service at the table and then actually get our food order.

Authentic & funky south Austin scene with quirky servers and hands down the best vegetarian food I’ve ever had. This place helped my husband and I transition into being vegetarians. It has amazing options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Some of our faves? the pecan pesto on anything(or by itself), lattes are incredible, brekky: smokin’ joe’s omelette, lunch: veggie royale(amazing veggie burger) with pecan pesto, dinner: Tarzan salad or Aztec pasta. While you’re at it have a ginger lemonade and an oatmeal sandwich cookie.

Delicious, fresh food made to order. I often check Unilocal for eateries when I’m away from home, in addition to asking locals for vegan suggestions. This one was not mentioned by the latter, but I’m glad Unilocal led me here. I had the vegan soul food plate, and a tofu/vegan chorizo taco. They’re generous with the servings, and certainly don’t skimp on flavor. The employees were also great. This will be at the top of my list the next time I’m in Austin.

Bouldin Creek Café is in an area of Austin called SoFi which is a fancy way of saying west of the SoCo area. Came here by myself for brunch on a Saturday and sat at the bar. The staff were friendly, accommodating and gave pretty accurate advice about the food/drinks. I absolutely loved the funky ambiance of this place, with each room painted in bright colors with a rustic finish and random comical signs and slogans all over the place. They also have a «community wall» with a ton of information about upcoming shows/live music and other activities in ATX. Lots of locals and regulars were all over the place. The café has a variety of food and drink items including a selection of vegetarian/vegan meals. Per recommendation from my waitress, I ordered the blueberry cornbread that comes with the Oven Cake Breakfast platter(with cage-free eggs, agave nectar and butter; tofu scramble, fruit &/or beans upon request) paired with a hot lavender latte. The cornbread was good but I was hoping it would be a bit more moist, it was on the dry side. Also the lavender latte wasn’t as hot as it was warm and it was a very subtle taste of lavender which was a bit of a let down. As for pricing, it seemed reasonable for portions and quality(which could be improved). I’d give it another try for the atmosphere and to try some of the other notable dishes or drinks.

Mmmmmmm bouldin creek. I went 3 times within two weeks of trying it Everything is vegetarian/vegan. Food is always good. There is usually a 10 minute wait to sit down but worth it. The Veggie Royale is my favorite. I also really like the chipotle pasta on the dinner menu. My friends always get the farmers plate. Last time I was there we ordered another round of drinks and then decided to head downtown. We asked if we could cancel the next round of drinks and our waiter was really nice about it. The bar ended up sending it out on accident so we decided to stay. The manager refused to add the drinks back to our receipt. I thought it was really nice of them.

I have been here a couple of times now(w/my vegan and veggie friends) and while they rave and hype it up, for me, the only things this place has going for it is the nice staff and location. I honestly can’t even tell you what I’ve had here because it was that forgettable. I just remembering getting the check and having one of those moments where you think to yourself«Why did I pay that much for that?» I am very much a carnivore, but I can get down w/the vegetarian fare from time to time and, again, I just was not feeling it(and I have had some stunning vegetarian meals that had me not achin’ for some bacon). I feel like I have given this place a fair shot and while I might be back as part of a larger group and might partake of a coffee or snackish item, I don’t think I’m going full entrée here again. But, hey, from the nonstop hype this place gets, they must be doing something right for somebody.

Love this spot and it’s only my first visit! It’s like a coffee shop – plenty caffeine options + free WiFi +open late – but with a FULL kitchen! Sad to learn that the menu changes several times throughout the day(came after 10 p.m. and they had stopped serving the srir fry), but ended up getting the grilled cheese with cilantro, spinach, and pickled jalapeños and it was amazing! They have a TON of beverages/Italian soda options! Service was great so I highly recommend this place :)

I was very upset this with place. After seeing a picture of their grilled cheese sandwich topped with basil or cilantro and some other toppings, it looked very appetizing. In the picture it was nice and gooey like it came right off the grille. When mine came… not so much. The service was bad! Maybe my server Brandon was having an off day or just didn’t care but he messed up my entire order. The only thing that wasn’t messed up was my drink but that was made by the bartender. Here’s the rundown: I ordered a grilled cheese loaded with cilantro(no basil), a side of Asian slaw and their oatmeal. The oatmeal came with a choice of dairy or non-dairy milk. I wanted almond milk. This is what happened. Plate came and sandwich was warm cheese was that started to solidify. There was basil on my sandwich when I asked for cilantro. The side he gave me was chips and salsa instead of Asian slaw that I wanted. The waiter did fix that mistake. No oatmeal ever came, I had to ask him to give it to me togo and he admitted he forgot to put the order in. Then when he brought it out along with the milk it was dairy milk and not the almond that I wanted. I just left it on the table. I only topped 10% which was still too generous. He didn’t get anything right with my order even though he wrote it down. My husband order was fine the only problem he had was that the Parmesan peppercorn dressing for his salad had little to no flavor. It tastes like thick peppered milk. I will never go back here unless it’s to have a drink. My ginger lemonade was the only positive thing about the meal, but again that was all thanks to the bartender.

I came to Bouldin Creek Café yesterday, not knowing that it was a Vegan place. I am not Vegan but I do enjoy Vegan food. I had the chickpea«chik’n» salad sandwich with avocado and loved it. My boyfriend had the veggie burger and it was also great! I wouldn’t rave about the desserts, but the brownie was good. I would not recommend the ice cream cookie sandwich; we didn’t finish more than one bite each of that. Overall the food was good, the server was attentive, and the restaurant was cute. This is the vegan and vegetarian’s heaven! Their food is super fresh and delicious. The prices are pretty good for what you get but the service can be slow. I don’t know why but they are frugal with their ice so if you like your water or iced beverages to have ice in them then you need to ask for an extra cup on the side. Parking can be limited so be prepared to park a bit down the street and stroll your way here! They have a nice patio area and they allow dogs!

It was my first time in Austin and I’m SO glad we decided to check this place out. We came on a Saturday for a late lunch and there was about a 40 min wait [worth it]. It’s a cute place with indoor and outdoor seating and interesting décor. I ordered the fajitas italianas which was deeeeelicious! HIGHLY recommend. I used to come here more often a few years ago when I lived south and was a vegetarian. I still stop by once in a while when a friend wants to go. It’s a great vegan option and much better than Counter Culture in my opinion. Most all of what I’ve had here has been good to really good. Some menu items change as they used to have a spicy pasta dish that I didn’t see last time I was there. It’s hard to go wrong with any selection and it’s a great place for breakfast. For dessert, their dairy free ice cream with espresso is where it’s at. It definitely has that funky Austin vibe and service is pretty good. Depending on what you order, it’s a pretty good value too.

I’m ashamed to say, I’ve only been to Bouldin Creek Café twice in the last 4 years, but both times have been magical. All of their dishes are vegetarian(I think) and most of them can be made vegan. If you’re a meat eater, don’t let that scare you away. They’ve got some of the best veggie chorizo on the planet. You wouldn’t even know it’s not the real thing. During the most recent visit, we went around 9am in the morning to get some breakfast. There was a wait inside, so we opted to sit outside on the patio. Luckily it was covered and they had the heaters on, since it was cold outside. I was just glad we were able to get a table, since this place can be so busy. They don’t take reservations, so they even have a disclaimer on their website that wait times during brunch can be 30 – 45 mins. Boyfriend being a tea drinker ordered a Tokyo fog(green tea chai, steamed milk, and vanilla) to start. It was good but could have used an extra tea bag. Or maybe we just hadn’t let it steep long enough before drinking it. For food, I ordered the tamale plate. Two sweet potato and pecan tamales with eggs, tortillas, and salsa. Remembering how fantastic their veggie chorizo was, and being that I got a couple of tortillas and some eggs that came with my tamale plate, I ordered a side of the veggie chorizo and made myself a la carte tacos. Delicious!

Absolutely the best vegan food in this here City! I love this place and cannot get enough of it. I’ve dragged the man, the kids, all the girlfriends. Some have come willingly, and hey, even if you don’t LOVE the food, the people watching is a kick. Great, cool, patient servers(they have to be, this place gets a long wait list) who are easy to talk to and will give you lots of great recommendations. The coffee is too strong for me, but if you love your Joe nice and black, I’m told this is a great one. Try the Smokin Omelet if you favor some heat. The Renedict however, is my fave. I dream of it, particularly in the summer time when fresh tomatoes rock this dish. Just GO!

How is it that it’s taken me this long to review Bouldin? It is easily in my top three of favorite Austin establishments. First off, as a vegetarian, I often experience FOMO when going out to eat. Like, «oh the whole rest of that dish sounds amazing, but it would be weird for me to order that steak dish without the steak?». As a now pregnant vegetarian, the struggle becomes more and more real with each inch of expanding belly. However, when I’m at Bouldin, I’m in a safe place where my options are abundant and delicious. Every time I come, the food is fresh and delicious. I often finding myself craving certain menu items for weeks at a time until I can venture down south to get my fix. I used to live so close to BC, but was a FOOL and didn’t even try it until after I had moved away! The service is *usually* very friendly, although I have seemed to catch a waiter or two on a bad day. Overall, no complaints on that front. My carnivore husband and friends also love coming here, so that definitely counts for something!

Coffee places aren’t really my thing so I really had no interest to come here until one Sunday morning. My husband and I were doing the usual back and forth«where do you want to eat?» and the«I don’t know. Where do you want to eat?». As I opened my trusty little Unilocal app this place was the first thing I saw. Little did I know they had a lot more to offer than just coffee. So here I am writing my review — 3 visits later. Potato Leek Omelet — this is by far one of my favorites. I say this but I’ve only had a few of the many things here. By favorites I mean I would come back just for this dish because I liked it that much. The combo of everything that made this dish worked well. Plus — get the potato hash cake — perfectly crisp and the type of «stringy» hash that I like. Tofu Chorizo Taco — so I’m totally opposite of vegan or vegetarian but this taco intrigued me. I’ve had vegan chorizo before and was a bit impressed. The tofu scrambler which many a Unilocaler raved about definitely screamed«try me!». First off, the portion size was great! The insides overflowed out of the taco filling the small plate that it came on — there was more tofu scramble and vegan chorizo than the tortilla could handle. Second off, the tofu scramble and vegan chorizo lived up to the great reviews on flavor. Never would I have known the scramble was tofu just by tasting it. Great flavor and definitely have had this at more than one visit. Veggie Burger — the larger portion size of this also surprised me. The type of toasted bread was also a good choice on the restaurants part l as I am not a big fan of traditional hamburger buns. The top slice was a bit too toasted and crunchy as it was hard to bite and tear easily into — but the bottom was perfectly toasted. The homemade veggie patty was a little dry but held together well and had good flavor. I do have to say it almost got lost in the mix of all the fixins’ on the burger.

I am absolutely a fan of Bouldin Creek and guess what I am not a vegan or vegetarian! If all of is this delicious I might jump on the bandwagon! If I didn’t know that was what was going on here I would probably have no idea because the food is that good! I went on Sunday for a late brunch. There were 3 of us and we decided to put our name down for first available with the hostess. About 40 minutes later our table was ready … I was really hoping that it was an inside table because it was super hot outside. Luckily we got an inside table. I would have sat outside and loved it I am sure, but I was thankful to not be in the heat. Their patio is nice, shaded and I think they may have even had some misters out there. We ended up sitting at the wooden tables directly in front of the bar. It was a good view of the action at the bar and kitchen area. We ordered a round of mimosas to start and the chipotle pecan pesto appetizer. The mimosa was delicious and refreshing. The appetizer was not my choice and probably not something I would have ordered, but I was pleasantly surprised how delicious the pesto was. I could see how and why they serve it with a lot of their meals. I ordered the Joe’s smokin omelette with fruit and red and black beans. My omelette was folded properly, filled with cheese with some spinach mixed and the pecan chipotle pesto on top. It was great and something I would definitely get again. The beans were awesome too! My friend got the veggie royale burger which she was a fan of. My husband ordered the soul food plate which was collard greens sautéed with onion, a bowl of our organic mixed red and black beans, and homemade vegan cornbread, served with red wine vinegar and real butter. He loved it! Oh and I had read a tip from Kimberly K before hand that the blueberry cornbread was a must so I also got a side of that too! OMG was she so right on! I could easily come here just for the blueberry cornbread alone. It is served with butter and syrup… mmm! The other thing that makes me a fan of Bouldin Creek Café is their prices — it is definitely priced fairly and you won’t break the bank eating here.

It is my favourite vegan food place. The food is really awesome. Good relation between quality and price. I only found a problem there, the music is so high and you can have problems to follow a conversation.
