Very good place with excellent, authentic food. My daughter lived in Argentina for almost two years as a missionary. She verified that it was legitimate. Make sure you try the Mate. It’s definitely uniquely Argentinian.

I came to Buenos Aires Café on a Wednesday evening. I ordered the Pescado de la Noche and my friend got the 12oz Ribeye. Both were average at best and definitely not worth the $ 30+ price tag. I’ve ordered the Parrillada for two before and that was a tastier meal. The place has a good vibe though.

Love the restaurant’s vibe and the look of the place! It’s a classy/casual restaurant with a funky look to it. Authentic Argentinean food! The best thing here is the sangria! I tried many sangria by their Sangeria had some notes of cinnamon in it which surprisingly made it delicious. I got the quarto leche cake because I wasn’t too hungry and it was delicious! The sponge cake isn’t as wet as a Mexican tres leche cake. The cream and fresh aspect of the strawberries made this dessert worth while! Will be coming back.

Love the family jive here! Everything is fresh and expertly prepared! The angus burger is most excellent — add the proscuitto… amazing! The empanadas are as good as they get. I had some friends from Brazil(i know different than Argentina but thats closer than we are) who were completely impressed. They have an expert bar manager who shows an amazing palate and incredible drinks. Keep up the good eats and drinks!

Here I am, have been waiting to visit for a while looking to relive that BA experience. Overall good vibe, authentic to the level of clunky homemade heavy wood furniture closely located next to each other. Bovine centric decorations abound, I like it. Empanadas for all to start as usual and all were happy. Argentinian wines well represented at okay prices but considering the current exchange rate should even be cheaper. Mains are next. The seasonal $ 37, dry aged ribeye was uncuttable with the steak knife. A much bigger knife was later supplied that barely did the job. This salty ribeye with no dry aged taste and chain saw-needing texture was of low grade. Others were more happy with their entrees including Pastel de Papas(shepherds pie). Sadly the restaurant never reached much more than half full during prime time Saturday night. Some good things and some not so good things. For me a 3, for others a 4. Majority opinion is a 4, but a 3 for me.

I don’t get to Austin often but while visiting my sister, she suggested we try it out. The chill vibe was exactly what was needed on a Friday after a long week. The wine selection was great and the empanadas were extremely flavorful. I would recommend this to any couples, friends, or singles looking for a place just to unwind. Will definitely add to my «must visit» list in Austin. Now if I could only find a place like that in Libbock!

Love this place. Empanadas are yummy and any of the steak dishes are great. I really love their Shephard’s Pie. To drink… Pisco Sours are to die for… absolutely the best in Austin. Sometimes it’s a bit slow, so go with good friends and enjoy your time.

If I had 10 stars I would give them all :) The Lomo De Especial was perfectly seared and juicy. The quatroleches and chocotorte desserts were both flavorful and rich. Nice, friendly, unobtrusive service. Quiet, cute ambience with the Gotan Project playing softly in the background It was likely the best restaurant experience I’ve had here in Austin and I will definitely return!

This is easily one of my favorite restaurants in Austin. I have never had anything less than delicious but the stand out, must try items: –empanadas specifically the tuna and vegetarian one. The crust is so flaky and the ratio of filling to pastry is perfect. I could eat these empanadas for every meal. –canelones. It’s like pasta meets crêpe and has a savory spinach and cheese filling. –spinach salad –any and all of their desserts especially the dulce de leeches crepes. The bartender makes the best Negroni outside of Italy and the interior is cozy and romantic. You can really tell this food is made with love!

I love going to Buenos Aires Café. It is a high-class casual spot with delicious food. If you love savory plates that are well thought out(rather than just pretty), then you will like this place. And there’s the wine list — long enough to have plenty to choose from, but not so ridiculously long that you feel overwhelmed. Service is slow, but not in a «they are ignoring you way.» Rather it is more like the relaxed atmosphere and slower pace that we should all be at while out to dinner.

I’d been wanting to come here forever. Buenos Aires is at a great location and it’s as cute as you can get. When I got there, it was almost empty, except for a large party. The host seated me quickly and I got the best seat in the house — by one of the large windows at the front and with plenty of pillows. If it were just up to atmosphere and nuance, I’d rate this place 5-stars. It’s picture perfect. On the Sharing menu, go for the House Fries(HOUSEFRIES, Rosemary & Parmesan, chimichurri aioli(V) 6). They’re super good, crisp and sprinkled with Parmesan cheese and, at $ 6, you couldn’t ask for more. I should have stopped there. It would have been best for everyone involved. But, what occurred was a disappointing drink(my fault), a chewy entrée and a perfectly good dessert. I got the wrong drink. The Santiago($ 11) and sort of wanted to send it back, but I figured it was my bad selection, so I didn’t. I ordered the Octopus($ 16) and the Spicy Crème Brulee for dessert($ 4 — chocolate with a touch of cayenne). My friend ordered the Lamb Skewers($ 12) and two empanadas(apple and … berry?) for dessert($ 2 each). M Octopus was tough and chewy. Thick and dense. It wasn’t overly tasty, but not entirely bland. And the sauce was nice, but there was a tad bit too much chorizo. My friend’s Lamb was nicely cooked, but rather small. Think popsicle-stick-skewer-size small. That’s not an exaggeration. But the yogurt sauce on it was nice. My friend orgasmed over the empanadas — apple and berry(I think) — with whipped cream on top. They were amazing, I’m told. My dessert(Spicy Crème Brulee) was creamy, with a thin, crisp crust. Perfectly fine. It was good.

In town for Jan. 1st holiday… gave up on stupid Franklin BBQ line and Unilocaled this plan B place… could not be happier. Took family of four for lunch Jan. 1st… and had empanadas(so very good!!!) and great butrgers \ sandwiches! Service was very good, patient and helpful(first Argentinian experience for the family) and place was clean, eclectic and just fun! Personally I had vegetarian sandwich cooked to perfection! Only reason not 5 stars is had a soup that was surely good… but just no to my palate… wife loved it though! Oh, almost forgot… the french fries we so yummy!!! Would go back anytime!

Came here twice. The first time, my boyfriend and I just wanted a couple drinks. A waiter(not a designated host, I believe), told us to seat ourselves. We waited 15+ minutes for a menu. Finally, when BF asked for one, a waitress snapped that if we hadn’t seated ourselves, we would have been served already. Ok… The service was just as slow. Came back today, in case they were having an off day. We were seated quickly and the empanadas came out quickly. Drinks and my meal were slow. The food was pretty mediocre: empanadas dry and bland, soup lukewarm. Somebody in the kitchen made a mistake and sent out an extra order of empanadas. Despite telling the waitress we didn’t want them, she shrugged and said, «well, they’re extra!» This felt deceitful when we saw them on the bill. Two stars for boring food and terrible service.

Empanadas — must get! The crust is not dense and is full of filling. So yummy! Ordered the meat platter for one which was steak, short rib, and chicken. It was good but nothing to note. The meat was well cooked and flavorful. When I return I will just order the empanadas and a bottle of wine to complete my meal. Ambience and service was awesome!

Had the butternut squash soup and churrasquito. Good quality was great. Had a little kick to it but nothing too hot. The ambiance was good and service by Chris was excellent. It was one of the few open on Dec 26th and we were glad to be there.

We had a gift certificate when we came here so that made the cost of things not as bad. That being said, they have a great selection of unique, and well thought out dishes. Follow the recommendations of your server if you are confused. Not much room inside, but we had a great time and the food and dessert was fantastic. Definitely a classy date place.

Glad I stumbled upon this place. Cozy setting and great menu. I have to go back and try the desserts. I was so full from the generous serving. The server even brought out extra fries because he said our plate looked like it didn’t have much. Coming back soon!

I came here for lunch with a friend recently during lunch on a weekday. Parking was easy and it wasn’t too crowded. I was excited to try this place, because I haven’t been here before and there’s isn’t an abundance of Argentine restaurants all over town. I had an carne picante empanada that consisted of spicy ground beef, green onions, raisins, green olives, fresh herbs, traditional spices. This was very good. The portion was ample for $ 3.50. For my entrée I opted for the Supreme which is breaded & fried chicken cutlets with a lemon caper butter sauce with house fettucini. This dish was $ 15. I wanted to like it, but the wine in the pasta was too overpowering. The chicken needed salt. I didn’t finish this plate due to not liking the flavor. The service was slow and inattentive. I got there at 12 the beginning of my hour lunch break and after 15 minute literally got up and grabbed a waiter by the bar to get our orders in. We were greeted and offered drinks by the same waiter he just disappeared for 15 minutes. The food took another 20 minutes. After I was done in had to chase him for the check as well. My friend had a steak for lunch in had a bite and I wasn’t impressed. I won’t be back here, but it may just be my taste and their food weren’t match, but the service well that’s needs to be faster and more attentive.

What’s new Beunos Aires. I wanna say, I’m just a little stuck on you. Wow! This place is incredible! Buenos Aires Café is a small restaurant on the east side of downtown. We came here on a Monday for a work dinner. Not crowded and got a table right away. Monday’s also means 50% off bottles of wine under $ 50. I do not know much about Argentinian wines, so the wait staff made a recommendation that was great. You must try their empanadas! I had the spinach empanadas and the special, which was a ground beef and potato. So wonderful! I ordered VENADO — «an 8 oz bone in Venison chop, seared & roasted, served upon a carrot purée, accompanied by pickled gold & purple beets, fresh blackberries, dollops of beet vinaigrette, & sprinkled with puffed red quinoa». I had to restrain myself to not gnaw on the bone. I figured it was socially unacceptable in front of my coworkers. We ordered the Brussels sprouts, bok choy and fries as sides to share. The Brussels sprouts were my favorite side. For dessert, I tried their DARK&SPICYCRÈMEBRÛLÉE «Dark chocolate, spicy pasilla & cayenne peppers topped with a fresh strawberry». It certainly was spicy. I liked the contrast of sweet and spicy. My coworker ordered pepitas — shortbread cookies with jam. Do not bother with these. They are seriously stupid small. I mean a total joke. they are not even a bite. A small bird would even think these were small! Your biggest problem here will be what to order because everything looks amazing!

GOODTASTE all around. Killer grilled meat platter, perfect cube-tube steak, chicken and quail, the ribs were almost all fat but tasty. Beats the snot out of any downtown steak place for the money. The crab pasta thing was deelish. Pork stuffed pepper was kinda sweet but nothing wrong with it. Four Leches dessert, huh huh… YUM. The classy-but-not-stuffy atmosphere, warm stylish décor and low-volume groovy music make this place perfect for a date — so don’t bring your screaming kids here and ruin it.

We came on a Friday night and it was pretty packed the wait time wasn’t to bad(about 25 min) but we were able to grab a quick drink at the bar. The food was amazing. 1st timer over here and we were starving so I am happy to say that all the food was amazing! I had the Churasco NY Steak with the rosemary fries and Brussel sprouts that were amazing! My wife had the empenada Carne suave provider a and the pastel DE papas which was crazy delicious. One side note after a long week in the office I was happy to see that they Houston brewery Karbach Brewery available but living in Austin I stuck with Live Oak Octoberfest beer!

Had a nice meal here with a big group. My biggest complaint is that after working with the manager quite a bit to line it up, we arrived on the day and they didn’t have our reservation. They scrambled beautifully to make it happen, but on a busier night we would’ve been in DEEP trouble. Nice rustic atmosphere and tasty food, although it can get pricey quickly if you have big appetites. Their fries are quite exceptional. To me, the empanadas were just ok, just because of their nature. They’re like really good Hot Pockets made with real ingredients; it’s hard to amaze with that setup. I would’ve rather investigated other parts of the menu.

Nice place nice staff, i hate to do this but here it goes as nice as the staff was they were pretty distracted and they took for ever to serve my food and to refill my drink in fact they didn’t refill my tea until i was done with my meal they servers were never around or asking how was my meal, now i order the special of the day ppfff 16 dollar sandwich with a cup of sup and tea to be a total of 20 dollars and cents and 2 dolar tip for the bad service so 22 dolars but here is the worst part nothing on that meal had good taste not the sandwich or the soup or the tea, I am very disappointed. Sorry I hate doing bad reviews and I hope other costumers have a much better experience that I did.

I dined at Buenos Aires Café’s East 6th Street location on a random Tuesday afternoon for what was supposed to be just a quick bite but instead extended into a several hour long happy hour. The reason? We felt so at home. This spot is cozy and bright with unpretentious furnishings and a welcoming bar. As the sun went down, this spot’s ambiance changes into a warm and romantic place for dinner or just a drink and tapas. The restaurant has an affordably priced happy hour with a great selection. Desserts are off the hook and crazy affordable. My favorite menu item is the Lomita Beef Sandwich. The beef is tender and savory.

Good food and good people! I came here with two friends for a nice dinner before we went out on a Friday. The hostess said there was one table ahead of us, but we chose to sit at the bar for drink and stayed for our meal. The bartender(Joe?) made us amazing margaritas and I wish I could’ve just had 12 of those for dinner. We ordered the cheese and meat plate from the appetizers and every single empanada available. The chimmichurri, as always, was the perfect compliment. We then got fries and cake! Adam was awesome and all the staff were very friendly! Definitely a must if you’re ever in Austin!

I had been to the Buenos Aires in Bee Cave many years ago for happy hour, but hadn’t tried it since. We went to the east 6th location for lunch on a Saturday. The restaurant seemed understaffed as they had the bartender seating people and only two other waitresses. The atmosphere is a little quirky and it’s one of those restaurants that looks like the inside of an old house. We were seated by the window, which was nice. I ordered the carne suave and verdura empanadas for my lunch. Both were good. The verdura had ricotta in it, but you wouldn’t have known it. Boyfriend ordered a pasta dish with a lemon butter sauce and fried chicken on top. It could have used a little more sauce, but it was ok. For dessert, I had a chocolate torte, which was layered with strawberry ganache. I liked it, but it was very very rich. It also had a balsamic glaze drizzled around the plate, which was also very very rich. Boyfriend had the caramel crêpe and it was scrumptious. Although I felt like the balance between caramel and crêpe was a little off. The crêpe was almost stuffed too full. Our service was meh, since, like I said before, they seemed understaffed. We were actually waited on by the bartender, who was also working as the hostess.

Really wanted to try this place out because I pass by it everytime I’m on my way to Practice Yoga. The hostess was nice, got seated right away, they kept coming by consistently to fill our water glasses, and the atmosphere is very calming and had a nice upscale Spanish feel. The food here is good. I think you’ll find that everything on the food menu is pretty delectable. I think I just wanted to write this review to warn people not to order the Sangria. It’s $ 24 for a carafe and let me tell you, it is not worth it. They fill the carafe full of ice and then they give u a glass full of ice. So the actual amount of sangria is minimal, you’re pouring an iced drink into an iced glass??? You’re basically drinking sweet tea at that point. Also we had the white and red sangria; and both were just not good. They didn’t have any actual fruits in them and tasted like cheap vodka mixed with grape soda.

So when you’re eyeing your plate then casting furtive glances to the left and right, and your wife lifts one eyebrow and, reading your mind, says«No»… you know that was a killer dessert. I totally woulda licked the plate if she hadn’t been here. We just had a four course lunch. $ 60 pre-tip and completely worth it. Holy cow. We started with empanadas, had salad, then shared the three meat platter and finished with Quattro leches cake and crepes with caramel sauce. Wowwee. So, so good.

This place had a lot of ups and downs for my first visit. And I was very excited to check the place out as I’ve actually been to Argentina and the last time I’ve eaten at an Argentine restaurant was 2 years ago outside of Atlanta. My friend and I were left waiting for at least ten minutes before getting any attention. This was not off to a good start unless they were importing the authentic level of service from Argentina as well. On the bright side, every item on the menu is representative of a dish I’ve actually eaten in Buenos Aires including a few homemade favorites I enjoyed with the host family I stayed with. I ordered a large version of their arugula salad to start. It was a massive helping of arugula with some cubes of squash and two small dollops of goat cheese. I’m not sure if there was any dressing on this salad. The whole thing tasted like bitter arugula. I asked for some red wine vinegar when I was halfway through. At roughly the same time, they delivered our entrees. This kitchen needs to get their timing down. My companion ordered two of the empanadas. They are classic Argentine style empanadas, and the carne suave tasted as good as my favorite empanada shop in Recoleta. For my entrée, I got the gnocchi quartet. This dish had a lot going on and not in a good way. The gnocchis themselves were delicious. I wish they just gave me a big bowl of gnocchis in a balsamic reduction. There were roasted red peppers, artichoke hearts, mushrooms, and Haricots Vert which didn’t all go together. Also, the parmesan cheese on the top was in such large pieces that it overwhelmed the gnocchis. Parmesan needs to be grated thinly for pastas. Actually, the Parmesan would have improved the salad significantly. The pasta was still palatable and enjoyable, but with a few changes it would be stellar. For dessert, we got the chocotorta. This thing is a tower of alternating discs of flourless chocolate wafers, strawberry-dulce de leche sauce, and cream. It was very good. 3 stars because the service was woeful for a quality sit-down restaurant, and some of the kitchen choices were confusing given my tasteless arugula salad and overplayed pasta.
