If you are looking for a quiet place to get a good pedicure this is the place. Alex is timely, professional and very clean. Its just you, him and some good music.
The reason for 4 stars is because his pedicure is more expensive than most any other place I have been and it is not necessarily a longer pedicure, nor does he appear to use any super expensive products or high end polishes. I don’t necessarily need all the frills that some salons offer but if the pedicure is more expensive than most than It should offer more, whether that be a longer foot and leg massage, more choices of polishes (Butter, Sparitual, Deborah Lippman, etc.)
He is very hard to get an appointment with so clearly he is in high demand. If you can afford him and appreciate the intimate environment it is worth it. I will say that his pedicure lasted for 4 weeks, which is amazing.

Worth. Every. Penny.
If you can’t get in, get on the cancellation list. It’s heaven. Alex deserves his reputation.

I’ve had a standing appointment with Alex for 8 years now. I’m hesitant to recommend him only because I don’t want him to get so busy that he can’t do my toes any more. What I’m about to say should only attract folks that want the best pedi in town and are willing to be patient to get appointments and pay top dollar.
If you’re still interested, keep reading. A friend once told me that she can get an appointment with her gynecologist easier than she can with Alex. He has tons of loyal customers, so if you’re new, expect to wait a few weeks for that first appointment. Take those appointments seriously too, they are hard to come by and when it’s your turn, you’ll understand what all the fuss is about.
You get what you pay for. This pedi lasts; no chipping or fading. My nails grow out before the polish wears off. Your feet and toes will never look better. Alex literally looks at my toes from different angles to make sure everything is perfect. No one gives toe attention like he does.
Get that appointment, turn off your cell phone, enjoy the results (this is no 20 minute appointment) and you’ll be convinced. Life is too short for ugly feet.

I am so happy I found Buff thanks to these reviews. I have been searching for a personal and peaceful nail salon. Alex gave me a perfect pedicure and provided pleasant company as well. I definitely recommend him.

Alex is simply the best. From his lovely, light-​filled space to his careful attention to detail, cleanliness and client comfort (not to mention the great eclectic music offering!), Alex offers a serene and reenergizing experience. Not inexpensive, but the safety, privacy and excellent results are worth it.

Alex is absolutely amazing! I have been going to him for close to 10 years. Once you have a pedicure from him nothing else compares. His attention to detail is amazing. I don’t know how he does it but I have never had a pedicure where the polish lasts an entire month from anybody else. His leg massages as part of the pedicure are to die for! I also love Alex’s attention to keeping things above and beyond clean and sanitized. Overall seeing Alex is a great experience and one I look forward to every month!

If you are looking for a top notch pedicure or manicure, this is the place to go! Alex’s attention to detail cannot be matched.
His sanitation practices have always been a step above the required law so there is not a worry about cleanliness.
This is a lovely and quiet place to get away from the busy, push you out of the way salons. He always allows enough time and I never feel rushed.
You will be offered a beverage and his magazine selection is super. Go see Alex at Buff and treat yourself to a wonderful manicure or pedicure experience.

I love Alex! I’ve been seeing him since I moved back to Austin 8 years ago and he’s the best. Completely agree with Jennifer R’s review and there’s not much else to say. Once Alex gives you a pedicure you’ll be spoiled for anywhere else!

Buff is a private nail studio off Burnet Road. Alex provides personal, professional, attentive service. He gives amazing attention to detail; the best mani-​pedi in town, with no pretentious attitude. There’s always good music playing to go with the good vibe. Forget the chop shops, go see Alex.

Alex Rendahl’s Buff on Burnet is the perfect quiet getaway for a pedicure or manicure. I’ve been seeing Alex for pedicures for over two years and he is amazing! Buff is a modern and welcoming space that has amazing sunlight. A pedicure with Alex is one of my favorite ways to spend an afternoon.
