Chris does my color, and what a pro! He’s quick, very professional and friendly. Such a great atmosphere and I dig his art collection. Kevin Murphy hair products are sold there, they are my fave. Don’t hesitate to try it out!

Go see Greggory Reveles for awesome men’s cuts, ladies and coloring. Gregg always cuts and styles my hair perfectly with little to no direction or fuss. He asks how I style it and what products I use and works with it and makes great recommendations! Now that I’ve moved from Austin, well I go see him when I’m in town! He is extremely funny and personable and I just feel great and relaxed for the whole day after visiting Gregg!
I would highly recommend Gregg and Mantis Salon! It’s worth the trip ;-)

I love Chris. To bits. He is everything I want in a stylist. And so is the salon.
The shampoo chairs are like no other. It’s like your head is floating and not crammed. His head massages are ah-​mazin’! HIs cuts are the best because they actually grow out into a style. I never feel rushed to get back to his shop to have a trim. He’s that good. The salon itself is clean as a whistle and super stylish. Great products. I could go on and on…

I had my first appointment with Chris yesterday for a cut and color. He was awesome! I haven’t colored my hair in 10 years so I was really concerned about getting it right and keeping my hair healthy. He went through all of the options with me and we came up with a plan that matched what I was looking for. As mentioned in a previous post, he gives a great head massage, and the shampoo chair is amazing — you are basically laying down in a recliner, so your neck isn’t jammed into the sink. Very cool. When it came to the cut, every snip was deliberate and precise. I spent about 2.5 hours in the chair but he was so easy to talk with the time just flew by. Go see him!

Kate has been doing my hair since August, and I have been very pleased with the work she does. Getting my hair right is very important to me as I have a unique hairstyle. Not only does she get my hair the way I want, she is genuinely nice and hospitable.
Most of the salons downtown are very impersonal, overpriced, and don’t do a good job for the money you are paying. This is quite the opposite, and the salon is centrally located so you could get their from north or south fairly easily. I can’t say enough about her attention to detail and personal touch.

Lisa at Mantis is Amazing! And affordable, in my opinion too… The salon is super cute and low key, yet v. stylish.

Kate has been cutting my hair for the past two years, since I moved to Austin. Most of the time I just give her a general idea of what I want and let her figure out the rest. I’ve never been able to trust a stylist like that.
She’s not only incredibly talented, but she’s also personable. She doesn’t ask me to purchase any products nor any services that I didn’t make an appointment for. I’ll continue to going to her as long as she’s here in Austin :)

Kate saved my wedding day photos by working me in at the last minute after my regular colorist moved to Dallas without letting me know she wouldn’t be able to do my hair for my wedding. She is so friendly and knowledgeable about not only hair products but nutrition and biology as well. The quality of the color she uses is fantastic, she was able to get my hair perfectly color matched, and maybe even a little better. Super friendly, and for 70 $ for all over color she is the highest quality for the price I’ve seen in all of Austin.
It’s a 5% discount if you use cash or check since her card machine charges her.

I too, followed Lisa from Orbit up to her new digs at Mantis. This was my first appt. with her since the big move and she’s just as awesome. :)
The salon is *very* cute. I’m partial to businesses in old homes and Mantis does it right. Very sleek, very pretty. Love the décor in the fireplace.
I went in for highlights and cut at 5:30 (because yes, she does late hours a few nights a week). We did blonde highlights and on a whim, I asked her about bangs. She recommended piece-​y bangs as opposed to blunt, thick ones. So we went for it. And now I have awesome bangs that I don’t hate. Win!
She listens, she cares, she does what you ask for and somehow manages to make me look amazing when I say ‘eh, just do whatever’.
Prices are right on target with Orbit. I couldn’t be happier. So many complements on my hair today, from male co-​workers no less!

I followed scissors genius Lisa from Orbit up to her new place, where she and a few other local stylists have gone in together. Today I went in not sure I needed to keep my appointment, and she took a good look at my hair and gave me a quick dry cut to trim out a few dry spots and keep the long layers moving around, and it looks amazing. Another instance of her really listening and thinking it through. (Another hugely positive review of her work is back at the Orbit entry.) Thanks, Lisa, and congratulations Mantis folks on the new endeavor! The place looks really great!
