On a Saturday night, some friends and I were waking down 6th and decided to drop into Burnside. The stench of stale beer and dirty bar was so strong that before we could even get a drink, we had to leave. They need to clean this bar.

I have all great things to say about this bar, however I only went there one night(a Wednesday) for about an hour. I was downtown with a group of friends and we had just left an(amazing) Unilocal event and were looking for a place to have another drink before calling it a night. We were walking along 6th(probably on the way to Maggie Mae’s…as usual) when we heard the voice of an angel yelling to us-«Free champagne!». I don’t associate with people who decline offers such as these, so we went into Burnside and had a great time with lots of bubbles. Being a Wednesday, it wasn’t especially busy but we met some new people, played a little beer pong, and danced in celebration of hump day. Also, there was a guy there taking requests who was AWESOME and basically played us any song we wanted. I don’t know how this place is when it gets busy, but for a Wednesday semi-late night, I’d say it was pretty spot on.

This used to be my favorite bar because there was always a friendly bartender that made our drinks just right! I believe his name is Ryan. I haven’t seen him in over a week so my friends and I settled for the other bartenders, but they just aren’t friendly like our usual bartender was. I hope he’s just on vacation because if not I’m taking my money elsewhere.

is there a way to give zero stars?!? this place was pretty bad. we went here ONLY cause they had«wine». the wine was gross. on top of that, our bartender and some random chick were basically dry humping at the end of the bar and didn’t even offer us another drink. wish I could give them zero stars! don’t go here. ever. EVER!!!

Loved it. Played great country music. People there were not ratchet and the beer prices were good.

This place sucks. I was in a group of ten girls and the bouncer wouldn’t let me in because I have an out of state ID. I’m 25. He let everyone else in the group inside though. Don’t go here, they are jerks.

Great venue for college graduation frat parents party. It’s a bit bowling alley shaped– so conversation was tough. But so is everything else on sixth street

Great bar right on 6th street in Austin. Friendly staff, good drink prices and a friendly staff. I’m convinced this place also has the best door man in Austin!!!

Nice spot on 6th. Although shaped a bit awkwardly(long rectangle), they did a great job fixing this place up from it’s prior incarnation. The best part about this place is the staff – they are awesome and do a great job taking care of everyone in the bar! The bands play in the stage area toward the front of the bar & they have had some good ones. A bright spot on dirty 6th!

Pretty chill bar here on 6th street. As per usual, beers are cheap all on 6th st. They’ve got beer on the tap for just $ 3.25!!! Good vibe and music. Kicked ass in beer pong btw.

Only go here if you’re looking to get your phone or credit card stolen. Myself and over 20 of my friends have had either their iPhones or credit cards stolen from this bar – BYTHEBARTENDERS. When you hand the bartenders your credit card they tell you that they gave it back to you when they do not. When you ask them to double check they get super defensive. WORSTBARON6THSTREET! DONOTGOHERE!!!

I stopped by this bar last night and it was very nice, the drink was on point and reasonably priced. I love the TV’s, the long bar, it was busy but service was still great, and I love the chandeliers too. The DJ was awesome too! A good place to dance, drink, and watch sports!

Just got back from a trip to Austin and this was hands down one of my favorite bars. And we went to A LOT of them. Not inferring we were drunk the entire time but let’s just say, we weren’t not, not drunk. You figure it out… The bar had a chic look to it with fancy chandeliers but didn’t take itself too serious. There were hilarious quotes from well known historical figures along the wall and the drinks were not expensive. I was convinced the quotes were all made up but after some extensive research(a quick Google search), I’m pretty sure they are all accurate. The live music was some of my favorite of the weekend. They encouraged group singalongs! Can’t beat that. It is a nice change of pace from the dirtiest of Dirty Sixth Street bars.

I love the chandeliers! It does have the vampire-ish look to it but I think they need to add some more seatings. It is also the only place here that didnt have loud live music — at the time of our visit– and that was quite refreshing! we loved it! We met an interesting character, a local architect named Chuck. It was all good: D The prices were so great! $ 3 margarita and $ 3 local draft beer! yum-o!

Really glad this place opened up. It’s in the spot where Treasure Island used to be. They did a great job in cleaning this place up and making it nice. I like to go during Happy Hour where they have discounted local draft beers and $ 3 margaritas. A very welcome addition to 6th Street.

Burnside’s is really a bright spot on Dirty Sixth… okay, okay you’re still on dirty, so hello frat boys, and black out drunks, and vomit in the bathroom. But, the interior of Burnsides could easily be on West Sixth or even Rainey. If you have to be on dirty(as I did for my besties brothers 21st) then Burnsides is a relief from the other places. Not so fantastic I’d go out of my way to get there, but decent enough that when I’m in that part of town I always stop by.

This was a cool place. The drinks were super cheap($ 3 margaritas) and I got a free beer when I checked into Unilocal. The bar staff was very friendly and it was pretty busy(Friday night). There was live music which was pretty good but after that ended, the DJ wasn’t very good.

Live music, PBR, and an open air front to let the night air in? It’s a nice spot if yer out with the lads. The beer is not too dear, and the location is brilliant.

I remember Treasure Island from when I snuck into bars in Austin underage. The glory of that pirate bar with the 25 cent drinks. Fast forward some years later and the underage appeal was gone but I managed to pop in there for the cheapeast of drinks occasionally. Since the Yassine brothers’ properties were all shut down, we’ve been anxiously awaiting the new concepts going in those spaces. Burnside is a nod to Admiral Burnside and his portrait, along with other famous American figures(Lincoln, Jefferson) adorn the walls. I’m not sure if they always had that nice brick as I think it was obscured by a giant ship but it looks clean and all growed up. The long bar has hooks underneath it(SCORE) and they’ve got these very sexy chandeliers. An alternative would be to shut the bright lights down, get better housing for your liquor, embrace the more dignified side of this spot and don’t try to straddle the dirty sixth meets bar in Capitol Hill feel. Maybe there’s an option to do something classier Sun — Wed and then go back to getting as many patrons as you can in the bar the rest of the downtown nights.

Goodbye, Treasure Island and hello, Burnside’s! Hey! Love the new look. The dim chandelier lighting, and dark ceilings all come together with the bar’s theme. Came here on a slow night so I don’t know what kind of crowd comes here. We just decided to check it out because it looked cool inside. Bartender Jessica freakin rocks! If you’re not a fan of Dirty Sixth, this bar might be a safe haven for you.
