My co-workers and I look forward to Thursdays lunches. The downside is that sometimes we have a hard time deciding which of all the dishes we are going to choose. We always come out with our«Hats off to the Chef».

I’ve been going to lunch here for years and have NEVER had a bad experience. The people are friendly, the food is excellent, and if you have dietary restrictions like I do, they will accommodate you as much as possible. The meals are top-notch and very reasonably priced. I meet the nicest people at Café Divine. There’s something about the place that invites table-sharing and good conversation. Chef Ray Trono of the CIA(Culinary Institute of America) is a delightful guy who loves tie-dye and making people happy with all the made-from-scratch entrees, sides, and desserts.

The food is always great at Café Divine! The variety is excellent and the portions are very generous. You eat in the parish hall of old St. David’s Church, which is an experience within itself. With line service, it doesn’t take long and you can visit with your friends or other diners while you wait. It is a great place to take friends or out of town guests who are checking out downtown.

The food is consistently good and plentiful. They always have a vegetarian entrée option! You won’t find friendlier servers anywhere. Lunch is served buffet-style so there’s not a lot of variety, but then you don’t need that it’s so yummy. Desserts are outstanding. The only shortcoming is they don’t serve every day, just Thursdays.

LOVE Thursday lunches at St. David’s. The food and the community are really great. It’s the best place around for a downtown lunch. Love St. David’s!

I absolutely love this place. If someone asks to schedule a lunch meeting, I usually ask if they are available on a Thursday so we can go to Café Divine. I have never been disappointed by anything there. The food is excellent, reasonably priced, and the service is so friendly. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about this place. I love that they partner with students through AISD Special Education to give them life skills and that they re-invest the money they bring in to the community. More churches need to get on board with high quality community service models such as this one. Thank you, St. David’s!

For the amount of money you pay($ 8) you get an insane amount of food. It’s usually a salad, an entrée, two sides, a drink and dessert(coffee is available also). Everything is made fresh, but served to you by volunteers. There aren’t really a variety of veggie options; but when I went I told them I was vegetarian and they made me a LARGE salad instead of a side salad and I just got mashed potatoes/veggies on another plate. So they will definitely accommodate you, just let them know. The mini pies were so good! I had banana cream pie. Delicious. A lot of business people from downtown go here. Also some older people(I’m assuming who attend the church). Everyone is really nice and it’s definitely worth the money. Also, you can sign up for their email list on the website and they will email you the Thursday lunch menu a few days in advance so you’ll know if you want to check it out.

SUMMARY Much like the café’s name, the Muffaletta is Divine and the catfish remains so. DETAILS The muffaletta was served with a not-to-olive-y relish, just enough ham and salami, and a puffy, fresh, delicious bread. Olive oil drizzled inside complemented it all. The catfish remains excellence. Crispy, juicy — very fine.
